[SET COMMENTS]
High base attack stat combined with its unique access to a Bug-type STAB makes Heracross the quintessential asset for handling Psychic teams. Megahorn is essential for Heracross, its 120 base power with STAB lets it hit Psychic-types like Indeedee-M and Gardevoir for immense damage. Close Combat is Heracross’s most reliable STAB move, providing good neutral coverage against Fire- and Steel-types when used with Megahorn. Knock Off provides great utility, allowing it to cripple walls that would switch onto it like Toxapex and Galarian Corsola by removing their item. Stone Edge covers Heracross to hit Flying-types that resist both of its STAB moves like Mantine and Togekiss. A Jolly nature with maximum investment in Attack and Speed allows Heracross to hit as hard as possible while outspeeding threats like Zeraora and Volcarona. Heracross should mainly be used to revenge kill fast threats such as Cinderace and Noivern. Your main goal is to keep Heracross healthy until the opposing team has been whittled down to the point where Heracross can clean up and garner boosts via Moxie. Alternatively, Guts can be run instead of Moxie to take advantage of status moves like Will-O-Wisp and Toxic allowing it to check Sableye, Slowbro and Mew, however Moxie is generally preferred as a cleaner for late-game.
Fighting teams appreciate Heracross's ability to combat Psychic teams with Megahorn and checking Ghost teams with Knock Off. Wallbreakers are appreciated due to their ability to pave their way through bulkier Pokemon so that Heracross can clean up late-game. Urshifu-S can handle specific walls like Corviknight and Sableye. It is also notable for punching holes through the opposing team, so that Heracross can have a easier time setting up for the late-game while the latter benefits from Heracross dealing with Psychic-types like Celebi and Slowbro. Keldeo can deal with physically defensive walls like Gastrodon and Skarmory, which otherwise check Heracross easily. Stealth Rock setters like Cobalion and Kommo-o pair well with Heracross, allowing Heracross to break through certain walls like Mew after being burnt. In particular, Cobalion is a fantastic partner for this set as it can handle Fairy-types that wall Heracross and give great support through Thunder Wave, acting as a defensive pivot through Volt Switch to bring Heracross safely. Lucario and Toxicroak are possible teammates if you want additional support against Fairy-types like Gardevoir and Hatterene. Choice Scarf Terrakion can handle Choice Scarf users that outspeed Heracross like Galarian Darmanitan and Charizard. Hawlucha can help weaken Heracorss’s shared checks so it can break through later on.
