Here be Pokemanz.

Here be Pokemanz.

Welcome, Smogonites. This is my first post on Smogon, so I hope y'all approve. Not my first OU team, but the first one I'm half proud of. I can't take credit for the Strategy, but hopefully I have some degree of originality. The team focuses on letting Dragonite sweep, after removing steel types. So, here goes!

In Depth:

The Lead:

142Aerodactyl.png

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Rock Slide
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Earthquake

Role: I'd never used Aerodactyl as a lead before, but he works a treat. Taunts slower leads, and almost always gets SR up. EVs are standard, and Rock Slide over Stone Edge as I don't tend to have the luck with accuracy, and Aero is plenty fast enough to abuse the flinch rate. He also lures out the steel types for Magnezone to deal with, and if he survives, can come in later to take ground and fire attacks, and cause damage with his respectable attack.

It's a trap!

462Magnezone.png

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Signal Beam

Role: Steel killer, plain and simple. Skamory dies to thunderbolt, and in my opinion Magnezone is by far-and-away the best CB Scizor counter. Signal beam is for wearing down Cresselia, and Flash cannon can be used to hurt T-Tar, although he needs to watch out for Fire Punch. I've basically maxed his speed, although I'm sure the EVs could be changed to be more efficient, so help on that would be good.

GIMME YO' BANANAZ!

392-Infernape.png

Infernape @ Life Orb
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Close Combat
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Role: Your standard Nasty Plot MixApe. Insanely good mid-game wall breaker, and with a Nasty Plot in, this guy can often sweep by himself. Again, +2 STAB Flamethrower helps rid the world or steels, Celebi, and alot of other things! One of the MVP's so far.

So let me get this straight; It's a dragon slaying duck?

233Porygon2.png

Porygon2 @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/40 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic
- Recover
- Ice Beam

Role: Counters so many things it's unreal, this guy does NOT go down easily, and has to be the other MVP so far. Standard defensive duck has worked wonders. Thinking of runnin T-wave support on him? Advice on that would be good.

ZOMG! TEH HYPER BEAMZ!!1!!1

149Dragonite.png

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
EVs: 248 HP/60 Atk/200 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Dragon Claw

Role: Ofcourse, I'm not using Hyper Beam, but in the original games and anime, this beast was awe-inspiring. Late-game sweeper, who comes in once Magnezone and Infernape have done their work. His bulkiness is really useful, and probably his most distinguishing feature from Mence. It also means he can normally get in a Dragon Dance or two, making him deadly late-game. Dragon Claw over outrage, as I don't like being locked in, and Lum berry to stop Paralysis ruining my fun.

"You're my shooting star"

121Starmie.png

Starmie @ Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Grass Knot

Role: In my opinion, the best revenge killer in the game; OHKOing Mence and Gyarados, the choice scarf letting it outspeed. ALthough Magnezone is scarfed, Starmie is slightly more all purpose, also checking Swampert with Grass knot, and many others with STAB Hydro Pump. An all-round great pokemon.

So, thankyou for reading. The original RMT had a team building section, but after an hour's work my computer crashed and I lose it all :(
So please; rate, advise, criticise.

Any future edits to the team will be in RED.

Congratulations. Nice team for a first-poster xD

I would change Dragonite for Salamence, as Sally hits a lot harder.

Also, Sally/Dragonite is/are weak to SR. I would suggest changing Starmie's set to that of the rapid spinner.

Porygon 2 would apreciate Discharge instead of Thunderbolt for the extra paralysis chance.

GL with the team!

Sally?

You really have a hard time dealing with Swampert, especially if Starmie is down. It can virtually come in and 2-3HKO every member of your team, and your only hope is to try to Toxic stall it with Porygon-2. To solve this problem, I suggest you switch Nasty Plot to Grass Knot on Infernape. Keep the EV spread and nature.

CB Tar can also cause some problems, it can switch into Starmie locked into Thunderbolt, which Ttar doesn't take much thanks to the 1.5x boost in the sandstorm. It then will Pursuit Starmie to death. It will probably switch before you send in Infernape. To solve this problem, I think Gliscor can make a much more efficient lead then Aerodactyl for your team.

Gliscor@ Yache Berry/Leftovers
Sand Veil
Impish nature (+Defense, -Sp. Attack)
252 HP/40 Defense/216 Speed

Stealth Rock
Roost
Earthquake
Stone Edge/Ice Fang/U-Turn/Aerial Ace

There you go! Stealth Rock and Roost don't really need an explanation, while Earthquake is your STAB move. Stone Edge provides good coverage alongside Earthquake, while the same goes for Ice Fang. U-Turn can hurt Azelf leads, while Aerial Ace provides secondary STAB to hit Heracross and Breloom.

Hope I helped, and Good Luck!

I second using Gliscor over Aerodactyl as a lead, but I feel you should keep Dragonite. It's quite bulky compared to Salamence and unlike Mence, it can actually find time to use Dragon Dance. I'm not really a fan of your set, though. Since you have Magnezone, Infernape and Porygon2, Steels shouldn't be a problem, so there are a couple of other sets you can use for Dragonite to get it as many Dragon Dances as possible, almost securing a sweep if Skarmory is gone. Here are some I think you should consider:

Dragonite @Leftovers
Adamant Nature
224 HP / 84 Atk / 200 Spe
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Light Screen/Heal Bell
- Roost

With this set, you'll be able to set up VERY easily. Light Screen and Heal Bell is all personal preference, and this set can do some very heavy damage unless it meets a phazer that can survive a Dragon Claw or something really bulky. Your other Pokemon should be able to minimize the chances of them surviving a boosted Dragon Claw, though.

Going with one of those two support moves rather than Earthquake will definitely help Dragonite survivability, and as it seems like your main sweeper, that should always be a plus. Although if you don't want to use either of those moves, your Dragonite as it is truly is an inferior Salamence, so I would advise you to change Earthquake if you want to keep Dragonite or just go with Salamence as stated above.
