Hey, im new to showdown, i thought instead of using a recommended team for my first time, it would be fun to try to put together a team, as it would help me learn faster. ive watched competitive, like VGC, and other stuff like that, so i started with an doubles OU team. the plan here was to start with mew, and alolan ninetails, or dragapult, urshifu. in the case of mew/ninetails open, i would set up hail, and trick room. and try to freeze with no miss blizzard and stuff, and use aurora veil to protect, and endeavor with weak mew. in the case of dragavult, dragon dance, and reflect then baton pass to something like zap, and ancient power than baton pass to genesect. while urshifu bashes peoples brains in lol. ive played a handful of games, and it's only been effective once, and it was still a super close game. i had fun and the guy was nice. but does baton pass not work as i expected? im not seeing buffs get passed properly. i feel like it doesnt work the way i think it does? anyway. rate my team lol
Mew @ Focus Sash
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 200 Def / 56 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Trick Room
- Aurora Veil
- Endeavor
- Explosion
As i explained up top, Mew here is mostly for setup and protection purposes, and to that end, endeavor and focus sash are there in case he gets instantly targeted, and explosion in case of emergencies. opens with alolan ninetales, who, if is about to die, is worth killing with explosion. but i think this setup synchronizes well with ninetales. although i dont know if the speed EV's are necessary since he'll go last for trick room anyway.
Ninetales-Alola @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpA / 4 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Encore
- Hail
- Calm Mind
- Blizzard
Ninetales here is meant to start getting free blizzards and beating up whatever setup the enemy team has, all the better if she can get off a freeze. Encore has been awesome with locking people into setups and icing them down. shes a bit squish so i stacked some defense ev's and i thought rocky helmet with an opener was a interesting idea.
Dragapult @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Reflect
- Baton Pass
- Tri Attack
- Dragon Dance
This ghosty boy is the other opener i use with urshifu, changing the strat completely, the idea here being to reflect, and set up and pass to genesect or zapdos, for sweep purposes. if baton pass doesnt work the way i think it does, ill have to scrap this entire plan, and start over. but the idea is pretty obvious, the addition of tri attack, is actually for genesect to get off super effective facades
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Leftovers
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
Impish Nature
- Body Slam
- Counter
- Liquidation
- Brick Break
Since this is meant to come out for people who are setting up, brick break is to smash reflects. counter is nice, because he will inevitably get hit, and i thought liquidation was a good STAB. now i will say he could easily be replaced, but i liked having the coverage since i know that fire types are so common in Showdown
Genesect @ Ganlon Berry
Ability: Download
EVs: 44 HP / 120 Def / 156 SpA / 120 SpD / 68 Spe
- Bug Buzz
- Flash Cannon
- Gunk Shot
- Facade
Genesects bug buzz is mostly for coverage, and once he is baton passed too, if the enemy doesnt have a status effect on them from tri attack, then gunk shots 30% to apply, and heavy damage will set up for a super effective facade. he's been pretty effective at sweeping. but like most of this team i feel like theres a lot that needs work.
Zapdos @ Expert Belt
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ancient Power
- Thunderbolt
- Hurricane
- Baton Pass
I have a lot to say about zap. so expert belt, i feel like can be switched but i need him to close deals, and that extra damage is a nice touch. if i baton pass from dragon danced dragavult, into zap, and can get off the ancient power boosts, baton passing from him to genesect is an option. thunderbolt instead of thunder for the accuracy and STAB type coverage, and Hurricane for the same reason, but thats sort of in hopes someone sets up weather, or if hail happens to still be up, ( and honestly i dont even know if hail works with hurricane)
So, in other words, i need a lot of help, but i think the team isnt too bad for a first attempt. it won once lol. totally open to switching things up, whatever you think comes to mind, id love to hear you out.
