Alright, so I did a little bit of research into what new moves pokemon will learn in HG/SS, and I discovered that Rotom (all forms) gets Pain Split. I think that adding this to or changing a few movesets could increase Rotom's ability as a viable spin-blocker/defensive pokemon. Here is a specific moveset that I have been thinking on for a while:
Rotom-S @ Leftovers:
Nature: Bold
Ability: Levtitate
EV Spread: 252 HP/168 Def/88 Sp
Thunder Wave
Confuse Ray
Air Slash
Pain Split
Essentially Rotom-H's standard set, but on Rotom-S with moveset changes. Start off with Thunder Wave, then Confuse Ray, then begin Air Slashing. T-Wave has a 25% chance of paralysis:
100%(0.75) = 75% chance of moving
Confuse Ray will give them a 50% chance to hit themself instead of moving every turn. Factoring both of these in, that leaves the enemy with a small chance of retaliating:
75%(0.5) = 37.5 = ~38% chance of moving
Finally, Air Slash has a 30% chance to cause flinch, which is normally mediocre without Serene Grace. However, with both paralysis and confusion in effect, it still has the same effectiveness:
38%(0.7) = ~27% chance of moving
Given that you can successfully get up Thunder Wave, you have a very high chance of forcing a switch. Even if they DO get a move in, you can always Pain Split and recover some health.
So? Any suggestions on the EV spread/nature or moveset? Also comments are appreciated.
