Hello,

The speed display when you’re battling currently displays an opposing Pokémon’s speed as a range from absolute min to absolute max. This is useful for checking whether you’re faster than something with max speed, but the minimum value feels pointless in the vast majority of games where I want to know whether I am faster than something with min EVs+max IVs. This isn’t the only useful value that I kinda wish was there either.

I think there are five values that provide useful information to the player (Key: IV / EV / Nature):
  • 0 / 0 / Negative
  • 31 / 0 / Negative
  • 31 / 0 / Neutral
  • 31 / 252 / Neutral
  • 31 / 252 / Positive
I think having a little added resolution by displaying these five values would go a long way towards making this tool a little more useful, especially for newbies. I have a lot of common Speed benchmarks memorised from playing for years, but when I’m using someone else’s team I might not know what a certain EV spread targets and only think to check mid-battle when it’s important, especially for Pokémon with six billion optional speed benchmarks (e.g. Lando-T, ORAS OU Rotom-W, a lot of VGC/dubs Pokémon, etc.).

That said, I am aware that the hover window is already fairly cramped without additional text, which isn’t a problem I know how to solve without pulling it up in front of me (not in a position to do that RN), so if anyone has any suggestions regarding how to deal with that feel free to chime in.

Thank you for reading and considering this.

Before I put my opinion in, I thought I'd note that I had suggestion regarding boosts applying to Speed here.

I really wish the Speed stuff was more effectively communicated, as the minimum Speed presented is very rarely used in a real match. It's weird that completely neutral Speed isn't put inbetween at least. I don't think Min-Neutral-Max would be that invasive an addition, personally. I can see why others could be, but...
