Hitmonlee

I was scrolling through Serebii and I found something that intersted me.
Hitmonlee's Ability "Reckless" caught my eye. I was wonderring about what moves Lee can learn that are in the specific criteria and whether Hitmonlee's too fragile to use it,

Hitmonlee@Shell Bell
Blaze Kick
High Jump Kick
Stone Edge
Bullet Punch

I'm sorta confused about it.

it wouldn't be too fragilw to use, just don't use it a lot. here's what i suggest:

Hitmonlee@Leftoves?
Blaze Kick
Mach Punch
Close Combat
Stone Edge

you wouldn't be using blaze kick a lot so reckless would work well.

The only moves Hitmonlee learns that work with Reckless are Hi Jump Kick (maybe use Wide Lens to reduce chances of missing), Jump Kick (lol) and Double-Edge (Teach as a Tyrogue in Advance, migrate and hope for the randomness of migrated stuff's abilities to work for you. Either use HJK or use a Limber Lee. Or some wacky Skill Swap action in doubles. Reckless Rampardos Head Smash anyone? Almost certain to cause a double-kill lol.

Uh, can you please stop making threads every time you think of a Pokémon, PaPeRpLaNe?

Limber is the much better ability for him anyway.

reckless only effects the moves jump kick and high jump kick. im reading this out of the official nintendo pokemon pokedex btw.

anyway, this ability is amazing with choice scarf. a base 200 move + STAB with 450 speed. yeah, that can FSU in OU

What is this base 200 move? Do you mean base 120 move (Reckless + Hi Jump Kick) ??

In which case... Hitmonlee learns Close combat anyway, and that is more accurate than Reckless Hi Jump Kick.

Reckless actually doubles the power of a REcoil move.

HJK*2=what he's talking about.

better use the choice band, choice scarf, focus sash/reversal/counter, or salac reversal set. they're all better than this reckless set...REALLY. i use the salac/reversal usually.

Yeah..but Lucario can pull that off better.
Just wanted to try something original, you know?
It's not that bad if you have a Sub Passer.

dragon tamer, not only is cc less accurate than high jump kick (85 vs 90)
hitmonlees ability doubles the power of those two kicking moves
but hey, we all make mistakes

Close Combat has 100% acc, unless you're talking about Cross Chop, which has 80 (and I don't think Lee learns Cross Chop anyways).

Hi Jump Kick now has a Base Power of 100, effective as of D/P. However, we're not including STAB in the equation here, so it's really a move with 300 BP on Hitmonlee.

That does actually sound appealing.

Of course, if you miss, the damage you would normally take is doubled thanks to its ability, but I still think it's worth it, now that I look at it.

i proved my own point!!!
i mad a stupid mistake by saying cc has 85 accuracy o the irony
thanks for pointing that out fishin

[ABILITY]
Reckless
[SHORT DESC]
Increases the power of recoil moves by 20%.
[LONG DESC]
Whenever this Pokemon uses a move with recoil, including Hi Jump Kick and Jump Kick, the base power is increased by 20%. Does not apply to Life Orb.

Are the researchers wrong then?

My mistake, I was looking at Serebii purely because it was already open at that time.

It talks about a 100% boost, but I'd sooner trust the Smogon researchers.
That's far less exciting.

Kevlar is rightyou know, CC still does more (than HJK) even with reckless.

CC isn't a recoil move.

The only recoil moves Hitmonlee learns is Double-Edge and Hi Jump Kick (recoil comes from the possibility of missing and crashing.)

You misread my post, Close Combat does more than a reckless boosted Hi Jump Kick, thus making HJK redundant.

Actually, if it's a 20% boost, due to HJK's new base power, they do the same amount.

CC, however, is the more reliable option, as you say.

I misinterpreted your post, I thought you were conveying the application of Reckless to HJK. My mistake.

That is really appealing...but don't forget...if it misses...bye bye Hitmonlee! :(

Edit: If it's only a 20% boost...then CC is obviously better...
