XY OU [HO] speed creep: the creepening [1500 and climbing!]

Hey everybody! Welcome to my second OU RMT! This is a hyper offence that I designed around being extremely fast, while not lacking in other areas. So without further ado, here's the teambuilding process!

I started with Talonflame as it is a very good revenge killer/utility mon.And despite being a fire type, Talonflame is pretty cool.

I then decided to add Excadrill, as I needed a spinner to keep Talonflame from losing tons of health do to stealth rocks and Brave Bird. It also has a nice offensive presence.

I then decided to add Mega Aerodactyl as it has an amazing speed tier and has access to Stealth Rocks. It also has pretty good attack as well.

I then decided to add Mega Aerodactyl because it has an amazing speed tier, access to stealth rocks, and decent attack.

I then added Gengar and Thundurus in order to counter Rapid Spin and Defog respectively.

I then added Hawlucha in because it is a really great sweeper/late game cleaner.

I then decided to replace Thundurus with Greninja because Greninja is badass my team had a large weakness to Garchomp, and my team was primarily physical, so having a special attacker would be useful.

The Team In Depth:

bravest bird (Talonflame) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Taunt

more brave than 'murica

This bird is great! Not only does it's great ability and speed allow it to be an amazing revenge killer, but it's support movepool really helps it shine. Of course, if you didn't know that already, you're obviously not a very big fan of pokemon, or have been living under a rock. Regardless, I'll explain the set. It's pretty much your standard revenge killer set. Sharp Beak is there to boost the damage of brave bird, without the recoil of life orb, and the restrictions of choice band. Flare Blitz is another good STAB, as it hits most pokemon that resist brave bird super effectively. U-turn is for getting some damage onto Mew while switching out into something that can KO it. Taunt is great for stopping walls in their tracks.

rapid spin (Excadrill) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

the best bayblade

Before you leave because of scarf rapid spin, allow me to explain. Rapid spin will mostly be used when it threatens out the opponent and forces them into something that can counter excadrill. It can also be used when excadrill is just about dead, and can't do much else. Earthquake is it's primary STAB move, and Iron head and Rock Slide are standard coverage moves on excadrill. Nothing too fancy here, but it does it's job well.

old but not slow (Aerodactyl) @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Roost

get off my lawn before i earthquake you!

This is a set I made by myself that is intended to utilize Aerodactyl's speed and surprising bulk in order to support it's team while still being able to go on the offensive. Stealth rock is pretty self-explanatory. It's standard STAB is stone edge, and it uses Earthquake as a way to get around things that can wall Stone Edge. Roost is in case it has taken a fair amount of damage and I want to be able to use it some more. It's a bit of an odd set, but it works well, and it can definitely help out the team. I guess if I were to name the set I would call it Offensive Support Aerodactyl. I would definitely consider taunt a good option if you want to use it yourself.

scary fast (Gengar) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Taunt
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Sludge Wave

so fast, you might get spooked... might

Yep, Taunt + three attacks Gengar. This set is becoming quite popular, and it's easy to see why. Not only does it easily stop both forms of hazard removal, but it also obliterates stall! Shadow Ball and Sludge Wave are the standard STABs on this set, and Dazzling Gleam is used as my coverage move of choice. I use Dazzling Gleam over Focus Blast because I can deal some nice damage to Garchomp with that. Plus, the Shadow Ball + Dazzling Gleam combo is only resisted by... lol pyroar.

why does the custom sprite for this look so ugly ;_;
double double (Hawlucha) @ Power Herb
Ability: Unburden
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 8 HP / 252 Atk / 248 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- High Jump Kick
- Sky Attack

double the attack, double the speed

This set is pretty underrated. Hawlucha may be weak to common priority sure, but with some team support it can be a huge threat! Swords Dance and Adamant nature are to give this thing as much power as it can get, as 92 base attack is rather disappointing. Sky Attack is to remove it's power herb and active it's Unberden ability so it can outspeed pretty much everything. Acrobatics and High Jump Kick are it's primary stabs, and despite the lack of coverage, it's very powerful! I have swept 6-0 thanks to this guy more than once! ...Or I would have if they didn't forfeit...

the ninjaest ninja (Greninja) @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Grass Knot

more ninja that any other ninja... except bob chairelli man i love in-jokes

Hail to the king! Or queen if showdown decides it's a girl this battle. Regardless of gender, this thing does wonders. Protean is an amazing ability, and it makes Greninja a great sweeper. Ice Beam is it's primary "STAB" and Hydro Pump is used if I need to deal a bit more damage. Extrasensory and Grass Knot are used to get past walls like Mega Venasaur and Slowbro respectively. I want to rant about why Greninja is so awesome, but as a wise professor once said "There's a time and place for everything! But not now."

defy the slowness (Thundurus) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Hidden Power [Ice]

why don't you love me...

Awwww. I'm sorry buddy. *hugs* Anyways, as he was, my team was just too weak to Garchomp to justify keeping him there. Gengar already could block both formes of hazards, and my only super effective moves against it were relatively weak.

I don't have enough patience to make a full threatlist right now, but for now I'll just say that my team is relatively weak to Azumarril, Garchomp, and Mew right now.

Hey you had the patience to read all that! Thank you! Any help with my team would be appreciated! But if you are going to suggest changes, I would recommend you try it out with my team before you suggest it, as sometimes people suggest things that work well with other teams, but not so on the team they are rating.

Hi. I used your team in a learning battle for my tutee for a learning experience.

Your team is weak to certain common metagame threats:

Talonflame
Azumarill

Their respective STAB priority moves makes 5/6 of your team cry. Although Aerodactyl can protect against Talonflame, it gets wreck by Azumarill. Nothing on your team switches into Azumarill safely. That is a big problem.

Ferrothorn, too, can cause problems for your team.

I suggest that you remove Gengar and change it to Thundurus. It is still very fast and can kill those two annoying priority users if you use it correctly.

Good luck with your team

Hi there JungleB, this is a really cool HO team :) However, I got some suggestions I think would improve its performance, so here goes. I like the general nature of your team, but some of your sets seem really lackluster. At the moment, it seems like your team is lacking a solid "glue" Pokemon. Looking at the current members of your team, Aerodactyl stands out as one the doesn't really gontribute much except setting hazards. Adding Offensive Mega Venusaur over it would decrease your weakness to Azumarill, Keldeo, Landorus-T and Mega Scizor by a lot, which is something the rest of your team appreciates. Another memeber on your team that seems out of place is Gengar. Except for checking Fairy-types, it doesn't really contribute much, and becuase I suggested you chenge away Aerodactyl, you need a new SR setter. As you are very weak to Talonflame like Metal Sonic said, I think using SR Tyranitar over Gengar might be a good idea. It also gives your team a great switch-in to Lati@s, which takes a lot of pressure off of Excadrill. Speaking of Excadrill; now that you have sand support, it might be beneficial to change it's set to a Sand Rush one. This makes it much harder to take on for both balanced and offensive teams, and gives you a reliable revengekiller when sand is up. Lastly, Hawlucha's most effective set in the current metagame is its Substitute + Swords Dance set, and I think that is what suits your team best as well :] That was all I had, hope I helped.
