ORAS UU HO---The Marriage of Steel and Skin

So what's up peeps, Triple-L G back with another sick UU RMT. Now I've been having some decent success with this team, not worthy of a screen shot, but a pretty nice win rate, and I'd always like to make it better. So this is a team centered around the biggest and best bee buzzing beneath the birch bequeathed to me, Mega Beedrill. This team is centered around whittling defensive and balanced teams down with Mienshao+Mandi+Beedrill and then sweeping with either Cobalion, Hydreigon, or Bee.
beedrill-mega.png

So Beedrill. An amazing turner, attacker, and the bane of all of those disgusting fairy things that this team hates. So what hurts beedrill? Fire? Ground? Flying? Ok maybe there's only one good flyer in UU but still. Who counters almost all of that?
beedrill-mega.png
hydreigon.png

Hydreigon is amazing. With insane special attack and a life orb, he be dropping Dracos all over the place. That sweet green skin and awesome purple hair combined with great stats and awesome coverage makes him a great partner to THE BEE as it takes care of fairies that Hydra hates.

Seeing as this is kinda an HO team, Azelf.

mienshao.png

Mienshao is a staple of any team that prides itself on killing fairies and hating Empoleon. Its insane attack stat coupled with U-turn makes it a great pivot and a great sweeper once its checks are removed.

Special Nasty Plot Lucario looked pretty good as it set up a win condition and surprises a lot of people

mandibuzz.png

"Excuse me, you said this was offensive?" you ask in a slight british accent, "What the bloody hell can Mandibuzz do?" I'll tell you. Foul Play+U-turn. Omg that combo is so good. It serves as a pivot once I take THE BEE, Mienshao, and Hydreigon back in with U-turn. I then can roost off the damage, defog the SR away, or OHKO beedrill, boosted salamence, and a bunch of other threats with foul play.

Even With priority, Lucario wasn't a fast enough threat to outpace a lot of the meta, so I added my favorite stalion, Cobalion. The combination of SD and coverage rounds out my team pretty well and makes it a whole lot more solid.

Originally this was a Memento-Scarf-Chady+Slurpuff team but I wanted to change it, so here it is.

So let's jump a bit father in here.

Hepatitis (Beedrill) @ Beedrillite
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Protect
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Drill Run

Ah Beedrill, My second favorite mega besides Swampert. With a base 150 attack stat and once of the best offensive abilities in the game, this guy is insane. With a bit of prior chip damage, he can singlehandedly sweep a team. Sadly, his movepool is pretty bad. No, it's terrible. He doesn't get any STAB moves above a base power of 80, and has pretty bad coverage moves too. He also is abhorrently sluggish before his Mega, so protect is a necessity. I'm running jolly right now as outspeeding most other Beedrills is nice, though adamant can pick up a few more KOs. U-turn imo is one of the best moves in the game, and with adaptability and STAB, it is a 2HKO on almost every mon that doesn't resist, and even some who do. Poison jab does the same but to disgusting fairies and things that resist bug. Drill run really helps against the fire, steel, and rock types that threat THE BEE. The EVs are really standard and self explanatory.

Oh, Sleeper (Hydreigon) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power / Flash Cannon

Oh yea, the Hydra. While Hydreigon's stats are psuedo-high, it really get's held back by it's 4x weakness to fairy. However, if the opponent does not have any fairies, feel free to drop some giant meteors on their ASSvests. Choice scarf really outspeeds everything in UU barr other scarfers. Timid does help him outspeed a lot more, though modest can be run for more power. Fire Blast really helps against Doublade/Forre. Dark pulse is secondary STAB that really helps against non-scarfed Espeons that think they can get you with that Dazzlin' Gleam. Personally I run Flash Cannon as an Aero counter, though earth power can be run as an Entei/Arcanine counter. I feel like having one shiny on your team isn't too try-hardy, and shiny Hydreigon looks just too damn cool. The sets are standard and obvious.

Uxie (Azelf) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Explosion
- Knock Off

This is hands-down my favorite Azelf set I have ever created. I know someone has probably used it before, but I haven't seen it before, so F U. This set functions as what Azelf does best, seppuku. SR really helps my team get some early KOs. Taunt shuts down other leads like forry. Explosion and KO are where this gets fun Explosion gets a KO with in 9/10 games that I play. This means that instead of being behind the 8-ball, I'm just on par almost every time. Knock off cripples scarfers or spec leads (don't lead with a scarfer/specker without U-turn) and gives me some momentum if they do switch. The set details are pretty simple, go as fast as possible while hitting as hard as possible. FS is to always get up SR, though if I'm facing donphan, I sometimes just outright explode as he shreds this team. Chandy is one of the few true counters to this, though not really as knock off does around 70% and then I can outspeed and get SR up anyway.

Justin Bieber (Heliolisk) @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt

- Hyper Voice
- Grass Knot
Heliolisk is just a great pokemon, with a decent SpAttack stat and great speed tier, along with double stab and Volt Switch. His mediocre defenses make him near the definition of a glass cannon. This guy is OHKOd by pretty much anything, though his immunity to water makes him an ideal team member combined with so many physical attackers. Life orb gives him increased power while still allowing him to switch moves. This guy 2HKOs a lot of common threats like the Nidos, Suicune, and pretty much anything else except for blissey. Grass knot OHKOs swampers and gets donphan down to sturdy. Hyper voice is STAB that hits everything that the other moves can't like the Nidos. Thunderbolt is just STAB power, and Volt Switch get's some great momentum going and forms a VoltTurn core with THE BEE. The sets are really standard, not much explaining to do there.

Uptown Funk (Cobalion) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 64 HP / 252 Atk / 192 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sacred Sword Close Combat - Darkerones
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge Substitute - Darkerones

This Cobalion set-up set is pretty average, except I chose sitrus over lefties or LO because the burst health is really nice as Cobalion is not very bulky, and a few well-placed scalds will do him in. SD sets up for justice. (Read that last sentence in Batman's voice) Sacred sword Close Combat is one of the Stallion's best Fighting moves. Iron head does great damage to a lot of things like Aero with STAB. Stone edge rounds out the coverage of my team and helps deal with mence/crobat better. Substitute makes sweeping easier. I changed around the EV spread a bit. It outspeeds max speed Entei, Krookodile, and Arcanine while maximizing Attack. I dumped the rest into HP.

'Murica (Feraligatr) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
One of the biggest threats in UU right now, Sheer Force Gatr. This probably the most threatening set-up sweeper in the meta right now aside from Calm Mind Mega Banette. With great HO stats and varied boosting options, feraligatr is the gatr you can count on. DD boosts him up so he can outspeed a lot of the meta and OHKO almost all of them with great coverage of Waterfall (STAB), Crunch (great for cresselia), and Ice punch (destroys fliers) which come together to create the savage beast which is Feraligatr. I so hope this thing doesn't get banned.

All Legs (Mienshao) @ Life Orb Choice Scarf - Darkerones
Ability: Regenerator Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off / Fake Out / Stone Edge
- Poison Jab

The best within has just come out. And it's name is Mienshao. I love this guy. U-turn+Life Orb+Regenerator is really insane and actually gives you health. HJK is obligatory massive STAB while the next moveslot is a toss-up. Fake out let's me win against low health non-resists, Knock off is an amazing move and helps against psychic types, and Stone edge OHKOs offensive crobat on the Switch. I personally run knock off as it has given me the most success, though they all have their merits. Poison Jab OHKOs any fairy including mega mawile. Yes, mienshao is so amazing it OHKOs an immunity. There's not much more to say about this guy. Choice scarf is an option as it really helps against Beedrill/Scarfed Darm, two of the fastest threats in OU, but I like LO the most as it gives both damage and versatility.
tumblr_m0be7k5sCG1r658wuo1_500.gif

2Metal4U (Mandibuzz) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Defog
- Roost

- Foul Play
- U-turn

The final and most important member of this team. If it goes down, I almost always lose. Acting as a bulky pivot and defogger, Mandy is the glue that holds the team together. Overcoat to help with weather and the odd vileplumes that like to be jackasses. Defog is to get rid of the stealth rocks that almsot always get set up against this guy, and while it also removes our own, if I gave a free turn to defog, the momentum's already with us and I can spare them. Foul play is Mandi's best move imo as it destroys physical attackers that can't do a thing to us. U-turn really helps get some switch initiative as I'm almost always slower than my opponents, so even if they U-turn, I'm fine. The set is a bit odd. It gives me just enough defense to avoid the 2HKO by Swampert's Ice punch even after Stealth Rock. The rest is put into special bulk to sponge those fairy, electric, and ice hits more (not).
So that's the squad! Hope you like it. I'll probably post an updated threatlist better btw.
Crobat---I think you can see why. It's also the only reason why I'm packing SE on a third of my mons.
Bug resists--- Especially Moltres. Without U-turn damage this team flounders.
Mega Absol---Sucker punch can do a lot to THE BEE and my only real check is cobalion, though it's OHKOd by superpower if it has it.

Few optimizations off the top of my head:

Always Jolly on Bee, remove the Adamant slash.

U-turn is pretty meh on Life Orb Hydra, use Roost instead, this is pretty huge since it's your only Fire resist on the team at the moment.

Literally zero reason not to use Scarf Reckless Mienshao over the mediocre LO Regen one.

The Cobalion set is just all over the place. Replace it with this one below:
Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Substitute
- Close Combat

How do you beat Suicune with this team? In general you kind of struggle with bulky waters, I recommend replacing Mienshao entirely and trying out Life Orb Heliolisk to counter Suicune and form a nice VoltTurn core with Beedrill. Why Mienshao and not Cobalion? Because Cobalion is valuable for Mega Aerodactyl which otherwise ruins this team.
I also really don't get how Mandibuzz fits into this team, you have a suicide hazard lead only to Defog your Rocks away in the end? Makes no sense. If anything I'd use that slot for another offensive mon, something like a Gatr could be cool since it's typing is good for the team, is decently bulky, and cleans really well after the rest of the team has worn down the opponent.

Preferred Gatr set:
Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
- Dragon Dance

Hope I helped!

Thanks for the r8 Darkerones . I ended up taking your Cobalion movepool and it's worked decently well so far. I also agree that it's the only thing that stands between Aero and the win. I also took your Gatr set, and it has made a huge difference. I no longer really have to worry about fire type or crobat (as much), as it has really helped destroy them. I did end up keeping Mienshao though, as reckless HJK has around an 80 percent chance of 2HKOing max defense suicune, while it can't OHKO mienshao in any world, though scald sucks. The U-turning action doesn't work as well since mandy is gone, as it acted as a sponge to hits, but the added damage Gatr can give makes up for it. Thanks for the r8 and have a good day!

OK so going to agree with Darkerones and change Mienshao to Life Orb Heliolisk as it helps you deal with Suicune, as your calc must have been wrong since Reckless HJK from Mienshao only 3HKOes Suicune. I'm also not a fan of dual Fighting-type cores, as they stack awkwardly in between Fighting-spam and singular almost mandatory Fighting-type for offense imo, but that's just me. Grass Knot is preferred imo since you can OHKO Mega Swampert which looks deadly against your team, while Surf is an option should hitting Gligar, Krookodile, Nidoqueen, and Fire-types for more damage be more to your liking.

252 Atk Reckless Mienshao High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Suicune: 162-192 (40 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Heliolisk @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Voice
- Grass Knot / Surf

I'm also going to recommend changing Hydreigon from Life Orb to Choice Scarf. Without Mienshao, you are now lacking a Choice Scarf user to revenge quicker threats, such as Mega Aerodactyl. Choice Scarf Hydreigon also provides you with a solid answer to Mega Absol, while also forming a good VoltTurn core with the rest of the team. Flash Cannon is, imo, preferred for this team, as it allows you to prevent Slurpuff from freely setting up and sweeping your team, but Dragon Pulse can be used for more consistent cleaning.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- U-turn
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Flash Cannon / Dragon Pulse

I don't understand those Cobalion EVs, if you don't mind explaining them, that would be appreciated but otherwise I would go with the EVs Darkerones listed above me. I would also consider using Shuca Berry / Chople Berry on Cobalion if you don't use Leftovers (Sitrus Berry's one time use isn't as good as Leftovers's consistent passive recovery, especially not outside of Doubles), as Nidoqueen Earth powers freely outside of Hydreigon and even then it's pretty risky, while Chople prevents Slurpuff from cleaning should it get a free turn against Hydreigon. Best of luck otherwise.

Hey Kreme, thanks for the r8! I tried out the LO helio idea w/ choiced Hydra, though the ability to not change moves w/ Hydra really sucks, as bluffing a scarf is one of the most effective baits. I really do like Helio, as it helps me kill suicune, though I was wondering what people think about scarfed Helio? Is it viable enough to replace shao? I really dislike CS Hydreigon as it only outspeeds a few more things with the scarf and doesn't have a lot of versatility in what it can do. It is really limited by its movepool and predictions, which can lose you a game if wrong. Choice Scarfed Heliolisk, however, can still get the 2HKO even on Spdefensive suicune and almost OHKO mega bee after SR. I'll update the RMT once I come to a consensus. Oh, and I updated the EV spread on Cobalion. Sorry if it was confusing. It outspeeds base 100s like entei.

If you wanted to play competitive Pokemon without being too prediction reliant, you could always play stall js. Hyper offense is a high risk high reward playstyle. I used Choice Scarf Heliolisk a lot and honestly, it's mostly good when you need a scarfer that outspeeds other scarfers, but not too much otherwise since Heliolisk's best attribute is how it can power through while switching up moves, although Choice Specs is a cool set as well. Not to mention, Heliolisk is kinda weak without anything to boost its SpA. Bluffing Choice Scarf on Hydreigon when you have a Life Orb seems really ehh tbh, besides, Hydreigon is your main way of not getting utterly swept by Mega Absol lol, I also disagree that it doesn't outspeed much more with a Choice Scarf, as non-Choice Scarf variants are outspeed by positive natured base 100s and over, whereas Choice Scarf varians can outspeed up to +1 Haxorus and +1 Adamant MegaPedo.

Update: I have tested the team with every one of the sets and I've come to the conclusion. Thanks to everyone who rated my team. The final consensus I came to was Scarf Hydra and LO Helio. They give the most coverage while maximizing advantages.
