Draft Honchkrow

[overview]

**Draft Order**: Round 8

**Price Range**: 1-2 points

**Overview**: Honchkrow is a hard-hitting offensive tool with a solid Attack stat that enables it to fire off powerful STABmoves. Its Moxie ability and strong priority Sucker Punch allow it to snowball as a physical threat, while having a respectable Special Attack stat enables it to run special or mixed sets. However, Honchkrow is held back by its bad typing, poor Speed and defenses, and propensity to take damage from various sources, such as Stealth Rock and Brave Bird recoil, limiting the amount of damage it can do before fainting. Moreover, its Dark-type physical movepool is lackluster, as it does not get Knock Off, and its reliance on the inconsistent Sucker Punch, holds it back immensely.

[strategy comments]

Common Roles
========

**Wallbreaker**: By using Damage-boosting items, Honchkrow can bombard opposing Pokemon with its STAB moves, such as Brave Bird and Night Slash. It can also run mixed sets to counter physically defensive Pokemon that may switch in, catching them off guard.

**Pivot**: Honchkrow can also use Heavy-Duty Boots to circumvent its weakness to Stealth Rock and generate momentum for its team with U-turn, as many slower Pokemon have to switch out in fear of its Brave Bird, and faster Pokemon are threatened by its Sucker Punch. This set can slot in Taunt or Thunder Wave to cause further disruption to the enemy team, preventing it from setting up entry hazards or spreading status.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Brave Bird, Sucker Punch, Night Slash, Dark Pulse, Hurricane

**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Nasty Plot

**Utility Moves**: U-turn, Taunt, Haze, Thunder Wave, Whirlwind

**Coverage**: Heat Wave, Psychic, Psychic Noise, Hex

Niche Moves
========
**Perish Song**: When an opposing Pokemon intends to set up on Honchkrow or when Honchkrow struggles to KO a bulky Pokemon, Perish Song can be used to force a switch out.

**Foul Play**: Honchkrow can use STAB Foul Play to damage Pokemon with high Attack or those intending to set up.

Common Items
========
**Damage-boosting Items**: Damage-boosting items such as Life Orb, Sharp Beak and Black Glasses power up Honchkrow’s attacks while allowing it to switch moves when necessary.

**Choice Band**: Choice Band gives Honchkrow's Brave Bird immediate power. It also makes revenge killing with Honchkrow's Sucker Punch much easier.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots allows Honchkrow to come in throughout a match without worrying about its Stealth Rock weakness.

Niche Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Honchkrow can don a Choice scarf to get the drop on foes with its increased Speed and try to sweep with Moxie, but it will still get outsped by other Pokemon that commonly use Speed-boosting items.

**Scope Lens**: On wallbreaking sets, the increased critical hit ratio from Scope Lens gives Honchkrow a chance to deal massive damage with Night Slash and Super Luck.

**Assault Vest**: Honchkrow can equip Assault Vest to patch up its weaker Special Defense to check Special attackers while still being able to grab momentum with U-turn.

Tera
========
Honchkrow is generally outclassed by other Pokemon at its cost level as a secondary Tera Captain, as it is still held back by its Speed and low bulk. However, when selected as one, Honchkrow can use Tera Flying or Tera Dark to increase the power of its STAB attacks to nuclear levels.

Draft Strategy
========
Honchkrow stands out among the lower tiers as a powerful attacker with quite a few abilities at its disposal, such as wallbreaking and pivoting. Drafts with already strong pivoting and entry hazard removal can appericate Honchkrow being another offensive Pokemon on the team.

Checks and Counters
========
**Flying- and Dark-resistant Pokemon**: Pokemon that resist Honchkrow's STAB moves, such as Raging Bolt, Tinkaton, and Tyranitar, can come in on Honchkrow's attacks easily and threaten it out.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon that outrun Honchkrow can easily OHKO it with a super effective move, such as Enamorus, Meowscarada, Iron Valiant, and Enamorus.

**Physical Walls**: Pokemon like Dondozo, Zapdos, and Garganacl often have enough bulk and recovery to outlast Honchkrow as it faints to recoil or chip damage.

yo seems like you are new so you made some common mistakes from people just starting
this doesnt count as a QC so you will have to still wait to get 2 of those
also i would recommend writing/editing these in smogon because when it gets copied over from other software like google docs it adds a ton of extra line breaks for no reason

[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 78 onwards

**Price Range**: 1-2 points

**Overview**: Honchkrow is a hard-hitting offensive tool with an excellent solid Attack stat that enables it to fire off powerful stab moves. It’s Moxie ability and strong priority Sucker Punch allows it to snowball as a physical threat, while having a respectable Special Attack stat enables it to run special or mixed sets. However, Honchkrow is held back by its bad typing, Speed and Defenses, and a propensity to take damage from various sources, such as from Stealth Rock and Brave Bird recoil, limiting the amount of damage it can do before fainting.
125 attack is good but not excellent

Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: By using a Life Orb or a Damage-boosting items, Honchkrow can bombard opposing Pokemon with its stab attacks, such as Brave Bird or Night Slash. Physically Defense Pokemon such as Galarian Weezing or Pokemon which resist these moves, such as Kingambit or Klefki, has have to watch out for Special attacks coverage moves such as Hurricane, Psychic or Heat Wave, them think twice about switching in.
specifying that it can be a mixed attacker is more important to mention than specific coverage, also no need to specify pokemon it threatens in this section

**Pivot**: Honchkrow can also use Heavy-Duty Boots to circumvent its weakness to Stealth Rock and generate momentum for its team with U-Turn, as many slower Pokemon would have to switch out in fear of its Brave Bird, and faster Pokemon are threatened by its Sucker Punch. This set can slot in Taunt or Thunder Wave to cause further disruption to the enemy team, preventing them from setting up entry hazards or spreading status.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Brave Bird, Drill Peck, Sucker Punch, Night Slash, Dark Pulse, Hurricane

**Setup Moves**: Calm Mind, Nasty Plot

**Utility Moves**: U-Turn, Taunt, Haze, Thunder Wave, Tailwind

**Coverage**: Heat Wave, Psychic, Psychic Noise, Hex

Niche Moves
========
**Perish Song**: When an opposing Pokemon intends to set up on Honchkrow, or when Honchkrow struggles to KO a bulky Pokemon, Perish Song can be used to force a switch out.

**Foul Play**: As it has stab when using Foul Play, Honchkrow can use it to injure Pokemon with high Physical attack stats or those intending to set up, such as Dragon Dance Gouging Fire or Swords Dance Excadrill.
Specific pokemon examples aren't really necessary here

Common Items
========
**Life Orb / Sharp BeakDamage-boosting Items:**: These Damage-boosting items like Life Orb, Sharp Beak, And Black Glasses power up Honchkrow’s attacks while allowing it to switch moves when necessary.

**Choice Band**: In matchups where the opponent has shoddy flying resists, Choice Band can power up Honchkrow’s Brave Bird’s with immediate power. It can also makes revenge killing with Honchkrow’s Sucker Punch much easier.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots allows Honchkrow to come in throughout a match without worrying about its Stealth Rock weakness.

Niche Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: In matchups where opposing threats resist Sucker Punch, Honchkrow can don a Choice scarf to get the drop on them with increased speed
foes resisting sucker doesnt really change much for scarf value
should add moxie scarf sweeps as a possibility and that it isnt a great option due to its low base speed

**Scope Lens**:

Scope lens can let night slash always crit with Super Luck while also making all its other moves 50% to crit

**Assault Vest**: When there are threatening Psychic Pokemon on the opposing team, Honchkrow can equip an Assault Vest to patch up it’s weaker Special Defense to act as a check to those Pokemon Special Attackers.

Tera
========
Honchkrow should not be your first, or second, or third choice as a Secondary Tera Captain. However, when selected as one, Honchkrow can use Tera Flying or Tera Dark to increase the power of its Stab attacks to nuclear levels. Tera Ground, Tera Fire and Tera Fighting give it the ability to use Tera Blast from its more powerful Physcial Attack as coverage. On the other hand, defensive Teras such as Tera Water, Tera Fairy or Tera Steel give Honchkrow some much needed resistances to survive attacks thrown at it.
since honch is pretty much never being a tera cap you should trim this down a bit more

Draft Strategy
========
Honchkrow is usually taken at the end of the draft, and is not a Pokemon to be drafted around. However, Honckrow stands out among the lower tiers as a powerful attacker with quite a few tools at its disposal such as, giving its trainer a often overlooked threat in their arsenal.
Its obvious that you shouldn't build your team around a pokemon this cheap so theres no need to state it
you should say something along the lines of what drafts should/shouldnt pick it (for a really cheap mon like this should be along the lines of: an already well rounded team would be fine taking this because...)
saying tools at its disposal is a bit vague - specify what features it has that differentiate it from other 1 pointers you could pick

**Pivots**: Fast Pivots, such as Meowscarada or Sandy Shocks, or slow Pivots, such as Slowking or Swampert, can bring Honchkrow in safely without risking it taking an attack.

** Entry Hazard Removal**: Honchkrow often wants to use Damage-boosting Items over Heavy-Duty Boots, therefore teammates that can keep Stealth Rock off the field, such as Iron Treads or Hatterene, are appreciated.

For 1 point guys that dont need really specific partners this section isnt really nessisary
its generally fine with any otherwise compitent team and doesnt need specific partners which you could either make a section for or just mention it in the main draft strategy section above and leave this empty

Checks and Counters
========
**Pokemon resistant to its Stabs Flying- and Dark-resistant Pokemon**: Pokemon that resist Honchkrow’s stabs, such as Raging Bolt, Tinkaton or Tyranitar, can come in on Honckrow’s attacks easily and threaten it out.
Try to mention at least 3 examples in these sections

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon that outrun Honchkrow can easily OHKO it with a super effective move, such as Weavile, Meowscarada, Iron Valiant and Enamorus.

**Physical walls**: Pokemon like Dondozo, Zapdos, and or Garganacl often have enough bulk and recovery to outlast Honckrow as it faints to recoil or chip damage.

Niche Moves

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Heavy-Duty Boots allows Honchkrow to come in and pivot throughout a match without worrying about its Stealth Rock weakness.

Niche Items
========

**Choice Scarf**: Honchkrow can don a scarf to get the drop on them with increased speed and try to sweep wtih with Moxie, yet it is not a great option due to still being outspeed by fast Pokemon. Rewrite this last part to say that it'll still get outsped by other Pokemon that commonly use speed-boosting items.

**Scope Lens**: Scope lens can let night slash always crit with Super Luck while also making all its other moves 50% to crit On wallbreaking sets, Scope Lens can provide Honchkrow a more likely chance to deal massive damage to foes with an increased critical hit ratio, and make Night Slash a more reliable attack. Reword this as you see fit

**Assault Vest**: Honchkrow can equip an Assault Vest to patch up it’s weaker Special Defense to act as a check to Special attackers. while still being able to grab momentum with U-turn.

Tera
========
Honchkrow should not be yoursecondary is generally outclassed by other Pokemon at its cost level to be your secondary Tera Captain add a small note here giving a reason as to why Honchkrow isn't a great tera captain. However, when selected as one, Honchkrow can use Tera Flying or Tera Dark to increase the power of its Stab attacks to nuclear levels.

Honckrow stands out among the lower tiers as a powerful attacker with quite a few tools at its disposal, such as wallbreaking and pivoting. Drafts with already strong pivoting and hazard removal would appericate Honchkrow being another offensive Pokemon on the team.
