[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Band Houndstone makes use of STAB Last Respects's absurd late-game power and Surge Surfer's Speed boost to become a terrifying cleaner, capable of denting even Ghost-resistant Pokemon like Ting-Lu and Roaring Moon. Under Electric Terrain, Houndstone outspeeds the entire unboosted metagame, as well as boosted foes such as Dragon Dance Baxcalibur and Choice Scarf Gholdengo. Shadow Sneak picks off faster threats like boosted Volcarona and is especially useful if Electric Terrain is not active. Alternatively, Will-O-Wisp cripples bulky Pokemon such as Blissey and Great Tusk and punishes Sucker Punch attempts from Kingambit and Chien-Pao. Play Rough threatens Dark-types early-game and hits Normal-types like Cyclizar. Trick cripples walls and bulky setup sweepers such as Blissey, Dondozo, and Garganacl and is useful in matchups where Houndstone will not be able to sweep. Hadron Engine users like Sandy Shocks and Gengar are necessary to activate Surge Surfer; the former can also pivot Houndstone in safely via Volt Switch. Offensive teammates like Great Tusk, Cinderace, and Chien-Pao can soften up physical walls like Corviknight and Dondozo as well as pressure Dark- and Normal-types such as Ting-Lu, Kingambit, and Blissey for Houndstone to have an easier time using Last Respects.

[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf Houndstone takes advantage of its boosted Last Respects to become a remarkable late-game cleaner. Adaptability powers up Last Respects with a consistent boost that is not as teammate-dependent, which makes it the better ability early- to mid-game, while Supreme Overlord offers the best late-game damage. Early-game, Will-O-Wisp cripples walls like Ting-Lu and Blissey and punishes Kingambit attempting to pick Houndstone off with Sucker Punch. Play Rough threatens Dark-types such as Greninja and Chien-Pao while hitting Normal-types like Cyclizar. Trick cripples defensive foes like the aforementioned Blissey and Ting-Lu, which improves its matchup against defensive teams where Choice Scarf's Speed boost is unnecessary. Due to Houndstone's middling Speed tier, it appreciates Sticky Web from teammates like Spidops to slow down faster threats such as Jolly Chien-Pao and other Choice Scarf users. Other hyper offense staples such as Dragonite, Baxcalibur, and Chien-Pao can wallbreak early-game by overwhelming common physical walls like Dondozo and Corviknight as well as pressuring Blissey, Ting-Lu, and Kingambit, which give Choice Scarf Houndstone ample opportunities to clean up late-game.
