Well, hello again this is a new team centered around, in my opinion an underused strategy of abusing the ability hydration, this is one reason which propelled manaphy to the ubers environment, and also another reason why vaporeon is so tough to crack, and after looking at new possible abusers I stumbled across whiscash, I always liked using him in-game and after looking at possible sets I stumbled upon dragon dance, and after a lot of thought processing I have come up with a semi-good team.
Politoed (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
I started off with politoed, I needed rain and he is the hair bringer of both rain, and with specs…DOOM. But anyways I have chosen hydro pump for the sheer power, focus blast to take down pokemon weak to fighting and ice beam again for coverage, and the reason for perish song is to cripple set up sweepers and baton pass chains, however more often then not I just click hydro pump as the sheer power of it is just well huge. The thought behind the HP ev’s is that there is no point investing into speed as he won’t be outspeeding much with his base speed.
Keldeo (Keldeo-R) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Electric]
I also felt like I needed a choice scarf pokemon and most people seem to rave about keldeo so I thought why not give it a go? The ev’s are pretty straight forward, to goal is to out pace as many pokemon as possible and the moves are pretty standard however again I tend to just click hydro pump and see things die.
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Wish
- Thunder
- Water Pulse
I also knew I needed a dragon resist and a stealth rocker, so thus I chose this bad boy…well star. Stealth rocks is well stealth rocks wish is more filler at the moment thunder and water pulse is to abuse rain and to get a bit of a parafusion thing going on. Another useful thing with jirachi is the grass resist which is needed for the abundance of water Pokémon on my team
Jynx (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 8 HP / 248 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
- Lovely Kiss
I tend to always use jynx when using rain teams, the reason is that it’s a good counter of sorts to opposing rain teams, stumping rain stall in particular with ice resist and the water immunity she can set up a scary amount of water pokemon, nasty plot is the set up move of choice, sub is always useful especially with dry skin and leftovers, ice beam is the STAB move of choice and lovely kiss is to put threats to sleep and possible set up further.
Whiscash (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Rest
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
And here we have it. Dragon dance is an awesome boosting move, not much explanation, needed. Rest and hydration is one of the main attractions as unlike other phsycial sweepers he isn’t crippled by burn and paralyse, also with rest he heals back all of his health, waterfall is boosted to scary levels with life orb and rain, earthquake is secondary stab however I can count on one hand how many times I have used it over waterfall. Another attraction is that the only common users of grass moves in OU are celebii and breloom both of which are predictable meaning they always use a STAB move and grass is very niche coverage move which is hardly ever used.
Volcarona (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flame Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Hurricane
- Fire Blast
Lastly I needed an abuser of hurricane and a weapon against sun, so here enters volcanrona which is also my back up sweeper just in case something bad happens with whiscash, standard sweeping set, fire blast and bug buzz for STAB and hurricane to bring the hurt down on pokemon weak to it.
