ORAS OU Hyper Offensive BirdSpam

I love my birds. I love my birdspam. I love my hyper offense. I felt like it would be fitting to create a team around these things I love. I did my best, but alas, my teambuilding skills are just not up to snuff (the fact that birdspam isn't as viable now since ORAS doesn't help). I feel like I'm missing something, and I can't quite put my finger on it, so here I am.

250px-398Staraptor.png

Staraptor @ Choice Band
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Double-Edge
- Close Combat
- U-turn
I can't make a birdspam team without my favorite bird, Staraptor. He's my personal nuke of choice on most teams I make. With a Choice Band, he is capable of at least 2HKOing most bulky mons in OU with the appropriate move. The moveset is standard for Staraptor. Brave Bird is his main move, while Double-Edge and Close Combat hit things that Brave Bird cannot, and U-turn is of course used for scouting and retaining momentum. I used to use Jolly nature on Staraptor, but I felt like it wasn't necessary to go +Speed. Ever since I've switched to Adamant, I have yet to miss Jolly nature. Since Staraptor's main purpose is to break defensive cores for the other two birds on this team, it doesn't really need the speed imho.

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- Roost
Swords Dance Talonflame's purpose is to clean up late game against more offensive teams. I opted to run leftovers over sky plate for longevity, but I have started to notice the loss in power. Other than that, this is what SD Talonflame looks like nowadays. 168 EVs in speed with Jolly Nature outspeeds base 115 mons, most notably Raikou, then attack gets full investment and the remaining EVs are put in HP. Swords Dance is what allows it to sweep late game when it's allowed to set up. Flare Blitz hits electric and steel types that Brave Bird can't touch, and Roost is for extra longevity and to recover from Talonflame's biggest nightmare, stealth rocks.

Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Quick Attack
- Frustration
- Close Combat
If Mega Pinsir isn't on your birdspam team, then it isn't a birdspam team. This is the final bird in my team even though he doesn't resemble a bird in any way, and he functions as both a wallbreaker and a late game cleaner. This is your typical Mega Pinsir set. Hyper Cutter is used to prevent annoying intimidate users from switching in for free before Mega Evolving. Its EV spread is standard for an offensive Pokemon. Jolly is used to prevent Landorus-I, Garchomp, Mega Gardevoir and others from outspeeding. Swords Dance allows it to clean up late game against more bulky teams, but can work decently well versus offensive teams as well with Quick Attack, but is considerably weaker than Talonflame's Brave Bird. Frustration is used over Return because Mega-Pinsir hates my guts it prevents the rare ditto from benefiting from the power of Return as they usually run full happiness, and it's a very strong STAB move that can break defensive pokemon even without Swords Dance. Close Combat is used over Earthquake so that it doesn't get stopped by levitating washing machines.

250px-530Excadrill.png

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
Excadrill is absolutely necessary to deal with Stealth Rocks due to the fact that my offensive core is very weak to it. Leftovers are used to increase longevity, as I don't want Excadrill dying before my opponent's hazard setter does. Max Attack and Speed with Adamant Nature allows it to retain decent offensive presence. I chose to run Stealth Rocks on Excadrill in exchange for Iron Head so that I don't need to dedicate another teamslot to another SR user (Mold Breaker also flips the middle finger to Magic Bounce users), and I chose to keep Rock Slide so that it doesn't get completely walled by Thundurus. Earthquake is of course necessary STAB for Excadrill.

250px-080Slowbro.png

Slowbro @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Slack Off
- Scald
- Calm Mind
- Thunder Wave

Slowbro might invalidate this team as Hyper Offensive, but I felt like I needed something to take hits for me that would otherwise put damage on my offensive mons. Slowbro is also a neat win condition to have if I can't birdspam my opponent's team to death. The EVs and nature are standard for Defensive Slowbro. Same goes for it's movepool, but I slapped on Calm Mind to give it sweeping potential, and I run Thunder Wave to cripple common Slowbro switch-ins, giving my birdspam core an easier time.

250px-700Sylveon.png

Sylveon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 208 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 44 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Shadow Ball
- Baton Pass
- Psyshock
Specs Sylveon was something that I slapped onto the team and it works with some success. I gravitated towards Sylveon simply because I love eeveelutions, but I am willing to exchange this mon for something else if necessary. 44 EVs in speed outpaces uninvested base 65 speed mons, max special attack for maximum damage output, and the rest is dumped into bulk. Sylveon's coverage moves allow it to take on Steel Types neutrally, Venusaur, Gengar, etc.

Sucker Lunch loves his birds and his Pinsir. He hasn't used this team before, but this would be something he would to use.
