Hyper offensive ladder team

I have used this team on suspect ladder when Mega Kang was banned. I have already posted the idea of this team somewhere, but it didn't receive very good reactions, so I decided to make a bit more in-depth article. Also sorry if I am doing something wrong, this is my first RMT.

Team preview:

The goal of this team is following:
  • OHKO everything
  • try to disable one opponent with flinch if possible
  • bait doubletargeting with many protects
  • stall weather / TR with many protects
  • intimidate your oponent with all the legendaries
Also this team in generall has terrible matchup against some teams and on the other hand it can sweep easily through other teams - exactly what you need for laddering imo :P

deoxys-attack.gif

Hentai Pornstar (Deoxys-Attack) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Mild Nature
- Psycho Boost
- Superpower
- ExtremeSpeed
- Protect

  • Psycho Boost OHKOs many things (i.e. CharY, RotomW)
  • even after SAtk decreases Psycho Boost hits hard on super effective targets
  • Superpower almost OHKOs Heatran and many other threats
  • Psycho Boost / Superpower have good synergy, because one decreases Atk and the other one SAtk
  • ExtremeSpeed can check a bit Talonflame (which murders this team) and Sucker Punch

shaymin-sky.gif

DushSpun (Shaymin-Sky) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Seed Flare
- Air Slash
- Protect
- Earth Power

  • gets murdered by Talon
  • Air Slash can create opportunities for your partner if you get the hax
  • If you double target Air Slash + Dark Pulse, you have pretty good hax chance (how much tho?)
  • Earth Power for Heatran, Aegislash, etc
  • I think that in general if all of Skymin's attacks hit for normal effectiveness on your opponent, then Air Slash > Seed Flare to reduce the hax

darkrai.gif

Momoric (Darkrai) @ Life Orb
Ability: Bad Dreams
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Hypnosis
- Dark Pulse
- Protect
- Ice Beam

  • Yolopnosis for unsuspecting targets, which you can't OHKO
  • Dark Pulse for the STAB, Perish Trap teams and TR setters
  • Ice beam for Landorus, Thundurus, etc.
  • was considering Thunderbolt for Azumaril, but Hypnosis is fun :P

medicham-mega.png

BigNig (Medicham) @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP
Adamant Nature
IVs: null SAtk
- Drain Punch
- Fake Out
- Bullet Punch
- Protect

  • Fake Out to support your partner and try to fill Mega Kang role
  • Drain Punch for the STAB
  • Drain Punch combined with 252 HP EVs creates something similar to Conkeldurr
  • Bullet Punch for priority - think of it as Kang's Sucker Punch
  • without speed EVs I almost never found myself using Zen Headbutt / Psycho Cut and when I had that set, I always wished I had priority instead
  • fighting + steel coverage is good for fairies
  • Protect catches many people off guard, because it is rarely used in one set together with Fake Out

genesect.gif

Scarf Shaian Cannon (Genesect) @ Life Orb
Ability: Download
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Extreme Speed
- X-Scissor
- Flamethrower
- Protect

  • nickname for general confusion to get bitches
  • X-Scissor for STAB
  • ExtremeSpeed is important for this team, as it gets murdered by Talon / Sucker Punch - that's why I chose attack over special attack
  • Flamethrower for steel types (this team gets murdered by Heatran btw)

terrakion.gif

Piony Pawnage (Terrakion) @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Rock Slide
- Protect
- Quick Guard

  • Quick Guard is the main reason I chose Terrak, because this team gets murdered by Talon
  • CC for Heatran
  • Rock Slide for CharY / Talon
  • I chose Life Orb over Focus Sash, because I think that unboosted Rock Slide is weak af

Here are things I am not sure about and could use some help:
  • is the moveset on DeoA correct?
  • is the moveset on Darkrai correct?
  • is the moveset / EVs on Genesect correct?
  • is there any better Quick / Wide Guarder than Terrak, that also provides good offensive presence?
So this is the team. Feel free to provide constructive criticism. I got relatively high on suspect ladder with this team (so maybe it doesn't suck), but it was probably because of hax / ladder sux.
Also, did I mention that this team gets murdered by Talon and SP?

zen headbutt > bullets on medicham
snarl, wow, twave, focusblast, sub literally anything over hypnosis. hypnosis is unpredictable, which is the bane of laddering as you get a million battles. and the more battles you get, the more chances you have for small (or in this case 40% hypnosis misses) probability things to happen.
i wanna say ice beam > espeed on gene since you don't have any ice moves on a hyper offense team, but espeed might actually be better considering the 2fast2furious pace of this team. up to you budde
taunt on terrak definitely helps you in the tr matchup. i also can't imagine fake out doing too much since you said you have protect on everything. i realize there are other uses to quick guard than protecting from fake out, but your ability to stop some trick room from going up is way more important for Hyper offense

idk if you actually wanted a rate since you already got reqs, but just some thoughts

yo falny thx for reply

at the start i have been using zen headbutt, but i have almost never used it (compared to bullet), probably needs more testing

hypnosis is for fun :] but yea in like tourney match it should be probably replaced... but in my opinion if you play many games on ladder, the average is still 60% and it doesn't matter that much if it happens in 40% of games

ice beam is pretty good but without SAtk decreases Psycho boost OHKOs Salamence, Landorus-I and has 50% chance to OHKO 252 HP EV Landorus-T

taunt looks good, idk why I haven't considered it :I probably in this meta without Kang taunt > quick guard, but otherwise sucker punch is pain :(

anyway thx4rate fwen :] i had the team with genesect / darkrai / deoA/ skymin for a long time but still haven't figured out what might be best, thats why im posting RMT :]

To start off, I would like to say this team is pretty cool; it looks like a really fun team to use, whissp! :] Hyper Offensive teams absolutely thrive in the Smogon Doubles metagame due to the fact Double Battles in general are very fast-paced, ending in approximately 5 to 10 turns.

Seeing as you have 252 SAtk EVs with a Mild nature on Deoxys-Attack, I highly recommend replacing Extreme Speed for Ice Beam to OHKO the likes of Landorus-Therian, Garchomp, and even Thundurus. Not only that, you receive extra coverage against Flying, Ground, Grass, and Dragon-types; this makes Deoxys-A an extremely dangerous offensive threat with its widespread coverage, virtually taking out any Pokémon that stands in it's way.

The only nitpick I have for Skymin is that he should have a Modest > Timid nature. Modest Skymin with Max Speed manages to speed tie base 111 Pokémon with positive speed natures and a maximum amount of Speed EVs, allowing him to still outspeed most of the Pokémon in the Smogon Doubles metagame. Modest LO Skymin OHKOs 4 HP Landorus-Therian 93.8% of the time, and inflicts significant damage to opponents who don't resist his attacks.

I'm gonna agree with finally; Hypnosis on Darkrai isn't very viable, and you'll get screwed over in the event you fail to put the opponent to sleep. Therefore, I suggest you give Darkrai Taunt > Hypnosis to more effectively deal with Trick Room, in addition to your strategy of constantly using Protect to stall out TR. Leading with Medicham + Darkrai is useful against Trick Room teams, as Medicham can use Fake Out to flinch the opposing Pokémon who can also carry Fake Out, while Darkrai can simply Taunt the TR setter and prevent Trick Room from being used.

I'm seeing that you have a noticeable weakness to Fairy-types; Medicham's Bullet Punch is the only move super-effective against those pesky Fairies and Genesect is the only member of your team able to resist incoming Fairy-type attacks. STAB Iron Head should be used over X-Scissor for added coverage against Fairy-types, not to mention you can get frequent flinch hax when paired with Skymin's Serene Grace Air Slash and Terrakion's Rock Slide. :P Darkrai already handles Psychic-types effectively with STAB Dark Pulse, making STAB X-Scissor on Genesect unnecessary.

Hope I helped, whissp! Thanks for naming Terrakion after me. :]

modest>timid skymin

id agree with pinoy here, but with a warning. modest does not outspeed scarf ttar. scarf ttar hits 364.5 while modest skymin hits 353.
considering that you have a chill 2 fighting types is why i was ok with swapping to modest, but normally timid is cooler!

Hey Pinoy, thx for reply :P

I have been considering other special move instead of ES on DeoA. Ice beam may be best but here are some calcs:
  • 252+ SpA Deoxys-A Psycho Boost vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 367-433 (102.5 - 120.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • 252+ SpA Deoxys-A Psycho Boost vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Landorus-T: 384-453 (100.5 - 118.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • 252+ SpA Deoxys-A Psycho Boost vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus: 387-456 (129 - 152%) -- guaranteed OHKO
  • 252+ SpA Deoxys-A Psycho Boost vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Shaymin-S: 405-477 (118.7 - 139.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
While I understand that SAtk drops and 10% miss suck, I am not quite sure if it's worth giving up the ES. I will try it out tho, because for this team switching is very difficult.

I will try modest Skymin, it's true that it overspeeds many things anyway.

Also thx for Taunt tip, idk why I never thought about Darkrai getting it :P should help also against Tailwind.

I originally put X scissor over Iron Head because an old version of this team had Bug Buzz and I didn't think about it much. I didn't even realize that fairies wall me, so yeah Iron Head with that flinch hax should be better :P

Anyway thanks Pinoy, your teamrates are always great :P
