Hyper Offensive

coollogo_com-72811841.png

I've been playing in the RU a lot as of ORAS. This is the firsr Hyper Offensive Team I've built for ORAS RU. It has hat the team really has trouble dealing with are:
  • Special Bulk Spiritomb (Especially with Pain Split)
  • Bulky Grass Types like Amoonguss (Defensive w/ spore)
  • Mega-Banette (Because of Prankster)
This Team requires lots of practice and has kind of a weird build when compared to other Hyper-Offesive Tiers.

The First Thing that came to my mind was to use a Pokemon that was common to use in RU, but with an unexpected twist. That is why I chose this Meloetta. Unlike the Sub+Calm Mind most commonly used in RU, the Meloetta I chose was a Pirouette Assault Vest Form. This was a sweeper that tends to sweep more often than anything I've seen in RU.

Next up, I needed a Utility. Hitmonlee was quick and could remove hazards while putting the opposition at a disadvantage with all of it's speed moves like Fake Out and Bullet Punch.

To make up for the flying weakness that these two shared, I added Mega-Glalie. This Pokemon was also defended by the fighting types who can fight against other fighting types that Glalie can't take care of itself.

I then needed a Pokemon that could swiftly take care of other Pokemon and play as a Swift Wallbreaker. While I had Ambipom in mind for this, Hitmonlee already did what Ambipom could do and more, so I wen't with a less common wallbreaker, Floatzel. Although Kingler could also be used in this spot, I tried using it, but it was often out-sped since it was a hyper offensive team (which commonly play NO bulky Pokemon, so they ended up fainting).

As a sure fire way to take care of Defoggers and Rapid Spinners, I needed something that could speed past just about everything in its tier while still having some defense in case they end up not being defoggers or Rapid Spinners. Jolteon was chosen for this spot due to it's high special stats and higher speed.

And Last but certainly not least, our Stealth Rock Setter, Cobalion. This can be used to set up barriers and be good even if you can't set Stealth Rock due to it's high Defense and Speed.

King Goat (Cobalion) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Justified
EVs: 232 Atk / 24 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Reflect
- Iron Head
- Close Combat

This is the Pokemon that you need to lead off every game with. It's natural bulk allows to take hits while setting up for your other members to sweep. The first move needs to be Stealth Rock, since using Reflect first takes up a turn that another Pokemon could use it for. Reflect should only be activated when you KNOW that Cobalion is going to be gone the turn of or next turn. However, be weary faster of Pokemon that know Taunt, although its high speed stat doesn't leave many options. As mentioned before, be careful for Mega-Banette.

Leisure Lee (Hitmonlee) (M) @ Normal Gem
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 8 Atk / 248 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Fake Out
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat

This Pokemon plays a lot as both a revenge-killer and as an utility. To use this Pokemon to it's full potential, use it when facing Pokemon that can potentially sweep. To stop this, play Fake Out. Then set up with Bullet Punch to deal damage or Rapid Spin to remove some momentum from the opponent. However, this doesn't always work, so another option is to just out-speed stuff and take advantage of it's bulk so it can sweep and tank at the same time.

Glade (Glalie) @ Glalite
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Double-Edge
- Freeze-Dry
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

"Thanks to Refrigerate, Double-Edge is Mega Glalie's STAB move of choice, as it deals a lot of damage to any Pokemon that doesn't resist Ice-type attacks. Freeze Dry allows Mega Glalie to get around certain bulky Water-types such as Quagsire and physically defensive Alomomola, which would otherwise completely wall Mega Glalie. Earthquake punishes Steel-types that like to switch into Mega Glalie's Ice-type moves, and it has the additional benefit of OHKOing opposing Magneton. Ice Shard allows Mega Glalie to pick off Pokemon that are incredibly difficult for offensive teams to deal with, such as weakened Mega Pidgeot and Mega Sceptile. If priority is not necessary for your team, Explosion can be used, allowing Mega Glalie to take out or heavily damage even the sturdiest of Pokemon that resist Ice." Buoy Boy (Floatzel) @ Life Orb
Ability: Water Veil
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Waterfall
- Return
- Crunch
- Power-Up Punch

This Pokemon plays as a very strong wallbreaker. It's high Attack and Speed EVs allow it to live up to its typing and break walls (original, I know.). It can use Waterfall as a Strong STAB move with a 1/5 chance for flinching. It uses Return over Quick Attack since it has high speed, but if you're worried about Pokemon like Jolteon killing this, you can play Quick Attack to get priority over it. Power-Up Punch can set it up to sweep and works as a reliable fighting move.

The Green Blur (Jolteon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Quick Feet
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 200 SpA / 52 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Hyper Voice
- Volt Switch

Despite the special bulk it has, this shouldn't show up unless it can OHKO or deal massive damage, due to it being the only strong Special Attacker on the Team (aside from Mega Glalie). This is a basic set that heavily relies on OHKOing to avoid it's low Defense stat that often leads to this Pokemon Fainting. That's why it has Leftovers to bulk over Choice Specs.

Weird Al (Meloetta) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Serene Grace
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 232 Def / 24 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Relic Song
- Drain Punch
- Return
- Knock Off

"Relic Song is obviously the most important move on this set, allowing Meloetta to become one of the most dangerous physical threats in RU. Return and Close Combat are chosen as STAB moves for Meloetta, as they have very good neutral coverage in the tier. Knock Off rounds out Meloetta's coverage, allowing it to do heavy damage to Ghost-types. Ice Punch and Zen Headbutt are also interesting options for Meloetta, as they allow Meloetta to get through Gligar and Weezing, respectively, and thanks to Serene Grace, Zen Headbutt has a nice 40% chance to flinch. Quick Attack and Facade are also options to replace Return, providing Meloetta with priority in Quick Attack's case or allowing it to negate the Attack drop from burn with Facade."

Here are a few replays to give an Idea of how the Team Works at it's best.

hey! the majority of your images failed friend try using these sprites: http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani
I love innovative ev spreads as much as the next guy but these spreads could be better. I'll just go though with what I would change set by set. It's still not perfect but its a good place to start. I'd also elaborate on those lines a little, and replace the copy and paste from the smogdex to your own words :o

Cobalion: You mentioned you had a problem with Spiritomb so I decided SD Taunt Cobalion was a better choice not just for this team but for this meta. It sets up on Spiritomb, as well as Amoonguss. Don't worry about the lack of rocks I'll get to that later.
Hitmonlee: I don't see the point of ever running max special defense on Hitmonlee, without attack it loses its ability to wall break. I'd run just a standard rapid spin set, as not only Normal Gem Hitmonlee mediocre you already has a late game cleaner and this team would definitely appreciate is power. Bullet Punch is also horrible coverage, its really weak against anything that it does hit super effectively.
Glalie: The Glalie set is fine.
Floatzel>Seismitoad: Floatzel seems cool I guess but not only does your team already have Jolteon as a fast revenge killer but also is in need of Rocks, I figured a Seismitoad was the best replacement. This particular set has enough creep for Emboar although if you don't feel its necessary you can always lessen it. Sludge Wave lets you lure Tangrowth.
Jolteon: Readjusted to standards sweeper, Wish is an option to help team mates switch in and Toxic helps widdle bulky grounds that this team struggles to switch into.
Meloetta: You mentioned that Spiritomb was annoying, so I decided to get even fancier and run this lure set. It doesn't just catch Spiritomb, but many other annoying mons like Steelix, Houndoom and Rhyperior.
King Goat (Cobalion) @ Leftovers

Glade (Glalie) @ Glalitite
Ability: Refrigerate

Hm... This team doesnt seem to fit the category Hyper Offense very well due to the fact that the EV spreads on your pokemon are kind of all over the place. A few things on each pokemon:

Cobalion: From what I can tell, you seem to use this mon as a pivot. Close Combat and Stealth Rock seem to work nicely for that. My suggestion is that you replace Iron Head and Reflect with Taunt and Volt Switch. Taunt can help by shutting down hazards and slower setup sweepers (taking references to vivillon on the sixth battle), while volt switch can help with momentum.

Cobalion @ Leftovers
EVs: 160 HP / 96 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Close Combat
- Volt Switch
- Taunt

Hitmonlee: Calling Unburden lee a revenge killer doesnt seem like the appropriate term. In my opinion, the idea behind this set would be more of a late game cleaner. Fake Out and close combat are nice moves, but I dont know what bullet punch and rapid spin are doing there, since adamant unburden lee outspeeds all scarfed pokemon in the tier. What could be improved upon is changing both fake out and bullet punch for knock off and stone edge/mach punch (depends on what you want) You could also switch CC for HJK since you get a higher damage output.

Hitmonlee @ Normal Gem
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off
- High Jump Kick

Floatzel: It might seem like a good option due to its high attack and speed, but 85/55/55 defenses make him much too frail. It probably will not survive enough turns for it to set up power up punch. Besides, severl good physically defensive pokemon could wall it. I would advise changing it for something else.

Glalie: The set you have is pretty solid, my only suggestion is replacing double edge with return so recoil wont be so much of a problem.

Jolteon: This set just seems like a mash of random things put together. Putting leftovers on it wont do much for its low physical bulk. Also, Volt Absorb is a much better ability as it can help deal with opposing choice locked jolteon. My suggestion is going full offensive with either a life orb or choice specs, and changing hyper voice for signal beam/shadow ball for coverage (what does hyper voice even hit?).

Jolteon @ Life Orb / Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball / Signal Beam
- Hidden Power Ice
- Volt Switch

Thoughts on Meloetta coming soon.

Some other random stuff: You seem to have some undetectable pictures on your post, mate. Also you shouldnt really be having much of a problem with banette, otherwise, there's something wrong.

Couple of Things:
  • I had Rapid Spin on Hitmonlee to use as an utility.
  • Hyper Voice on Jolteon was used to hit substitutes (It worked Good on Slyveon, So I supposed it worked good here too)
  • And any ideas for who could replace Buizel?

You could still run Rapid Spin, just run the set I recommonded :o

I mean most mons that run Substitute in this tier are either Calm Minders who will set up on your Hyper Voice or Cobalion, who will take like 20% max and kill you in return.

I'd use Seismitoad like I said but I guess if you really want an offensive water type Clawitzer or Samorott work. If you're looking for another pokemon that keeps its speed Accelgor, Scarf Delphox, Scarf Flygon, Dugtrio, Durant and Sneasel are all options you could readjust your team to fit.

The thing about Hyper Voice on Sylveon is that Pixilate gives it fairy typing and a x1.95 damage boost (this is factoring STAB and the pixilate's separate x1.3 boost. This also doesnt factor any type effectiveness damage). Unlike sylveon, jolteon does not have an ability that grants such a boost.

Hello. I feel like you don't really understand the ru metagame, hence you using mons such as Floatzel which is not viable and also sub-optimal sets and spreads on mons such as hitmonlee. I feel like the team needs so much work that it wouldn't be you're team anymore - you don't have answers for cobalion or virizion and struggle badly against the likes of durant and tangrowth all of which are major metagame threats. I recommend that you head over to Battling 101 - the next round of signups starts July 13th. Gl.

OK, Thanks for The Advice. I will try to learn on my own until then.
