I Do This More Often Than I'd Like - RMT

This team has been doing quite well on Shoddy the last couple of weeks. I know it can be improved. Any ideas would be great.

Panic Prevention (Swampert) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Surf
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
---

Running a mixed variation to get Physical walls for extra damage. Swampy is an awesome lead and unfortunately for me I have noticed an increase in the amount of Swampert leads lately.

Grows Stronger (Lucario) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- ExtremeSpeed
- Swords Dance
---

Meant to be my late game sweeper. He seems menacing but unfortunately I am seeking to replace him. Weavile seems like a good alternative but right now I am thinking Gallade.

dpmfa462.png

Our Hands Turn Into Machines (Magnezone) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 88 HP/88 Def/88 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Substitute
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
---

I switched the Attack EVs to Defense to allow me to take hits I resist better. IE Stone Edge and Ice Fang from Gyarados. This thing usually sends Water Pokemon running and that is when I sub up. Thunder Wave has proven more useful than Magnet Rise to me although I miss being able to destroy Bronzong :(

dpmfa121.png

Damn Those Blood Suckers And Their Good Qualities (Starmie) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/224 Spd/114 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
---

My answer to alot of threats. I don't run Recover because I like the BoltBeam combo a lot.

dpmfa398.png

STU, STU, STU, STU, STUTTER (Staraptor) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Quick Attack
---

Interesting Pokemon. Choice Scarf allows me to hit things very hard. I love hitting Celebi with U-turn. Quick Attack over Return/Double-Edge because I feel like Return lacks power and I don't want recoil from Double-Edge. Priority ftw.

dpmfa485.png

Fucking's Greatest Hits (Heatran) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/48 SAtk/208 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Sleep Talk
- Rest
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
---

My answer to Celebi and Roserade. Also my status absorber. Functions as my Special Wall. Gets rid of other Steels for me and burns those cocky switch ins. I love how it can survive Surfs but I absolutely hate how STalk Heracross and Machamp are much better offensively. He runs at the sight of Tyranitar :(

3 Steel Pokemon, one common weakness, and a shit load of resistances. I think these Pokemon work well but if I do not play it right Lucario will be in a ton of trouble late game. Seriously considering removing him. I'd hate to lose his resistances though. No threat list since they don't get me any more posts :(

late game sweeper? i would prefer machamp over lucario/gallade. give it jolly and a scarf. dynamic punch will cause some major havoc.

take out quick attack on staraptor, you don't need it with all that speed.

You have a massive SD Lucario weakness. I mean, if it gets a Swords Dance, it can easily sweep your whole team. Your best bet would to keep coming in to Intimidate with Staraptor, but Stealth Rock + flying = not a good combonation. You could try replacing Swampert with Gliscor, and making Staraptor your lead.

Starmie really needs recover, since otherwise Infernape has the ability to do a lot of damage. It seems that Starmie is going to be your main Infernape counter, and you really need Recover to continue switching into its attacks.

Give Lucario an Adamant nature, you need it for Skarmory and other physical walls.

Nice reference on the Heatran :D

I agree with Recover on Starmie despite you liking BoltBeam. It allows it to rack up damage without worrying about it too much since you have no Wish support to keep it going. I like it's HP Evs as well; makes it a little bulky.

Staraptor seems fine, but find it little odd as you have Brave Bird but no D-E due to not wanting recoil. QA appears fine but is a little redundant when you have Choice Scarf.

Sorry if I didn't provide much; Haven't battled competitively in too long and I really should get back into it ;/

Machamp is NOT a late game sweeper. Just because Lucario is weak to fighting doesn't make Machamp better.

Machamp has no business with a Choice Scarf >.>
Priority attacks are a must.

Bah Lucario hasn't given me any problems while Swampert is around. Staraptor has done a good job at spooking him. I seriously would never consider Gliscor on my team ever again unless its for Knock Off.

Infernape was something I thought about. Without those nifty dragons I have no way of completely countering him. In Lucario's place I was considering Dragonite. Dragonite can take a couple non-super effective hits and dish out crazy damage.

Blood Brothers ftw.

I'm not very fond of the Wish support concept. Unless there is a Pokemon with both U-Turn and Wish or Baton Pass and Wish I find that it only allows opponents to set up. Starmie has proven its worth by taking a couple of key hits but nonetheless I am still reluctant to run Recover. I need to be convinced :|

I have Brave Bird but no Double Edge because it is required IMO. It allows me to counter stupid Pokemon like Heracross, Infernape, Breloom, Yanmega, and Roserade. Double Edge would just be another way to kill my bird.

Quick Attack on a Scarfer because priority moves have become more and more common.

Off the top of my head, Jirachi has Wish and U-turn; all the Eeveelutions have Wish and Baton Pass.

Recover on Starmie allows it to come in multiple times. Without it, even a resisted attack will easily bring down Starmie's average 65/85/85 defenses after a hit or two.

uhhhh, wow, forget about SD Lucario, Specs Lucario could destroy this team even worse.

Since his Starmie lacks recover, it won't be able to switch in forever. All it has to do is get in and Aura Sphere over and over and over... Swampert will take like 60%, Lucario, Heatran and Magnezone will all be OHKOed. Staraptor will also be OHKOed.

Lets do some calcs!

Aura Sphere vs Starmie: 42.43% - 49.67% With no recovery, it won't be able to do this for long.

Aura Sphere vs Swampert: 60.64% - 71.53%

Aura Sphere vs Staraptor: 124.76% - 146.62%

Aura Sphere vs Lucario: 213.88% - 251.60%

Aura Sphere vs Magnezone: 162.05% - 190.76%

Aura Sphere vs Heatran: 92.23% - 108.29%

OWNED!!

I feel like a togekiss with protect/wish/baton pass/??? could deal with specscario and help support your team, but iono. is he bulky enough?

I remember fighting this team, it was pretty close too.

Oddly enough, Weezing seems to fit the bill for this team. It helps cover your ground and fighting weak as well as burning any Lucario or Tyranitar giving you trouble.

Ok, let's run some damage calculations!

Adamant Life Orb Lucario after a Swords Dance vs your whole team:

Swampert-350*2 attack vs 306 defense, 120 power(*1.5*1.3), 404 max HP: 95.05% - 111.88% (68.75% OHKO, 38 more points required for OHKO)

Starmie-350*2 attack vs 206 defense, 80 power(*1.3), 304 max HP: 83.55% - 98.36%

Staraptor-350*1.5 attack vs 176 defense, 80 power(*1.3), 312 max HP: 71.47% - 83.97%

Lucario-350*2 attack vs 176 defense, 120 power(*1.5*2*1.3), 281 max HP: 474.02% - 557.65% (Extremespeed does 60%)

Magnezone- 350*2 attack vs 285 defense, 120 power(*1.5*2*1.3), 304 max HP: 271.38% - 319.41%

Heatran- 350*2 attack vs 248 defense, 120 power(*1.5*2*1.3), 384 max HP: 246.88% - 290.36%

Considering any competant user of SD Lucario uses Stealth Rocks along with it, your team is going to have quite a hard time against it, considering Stealth Rock turns Starmie, Staraptor and Swampert into a OHKO most of the time.

Ironic ending with the me wishing for a Critical Hit on you but instead you got a Critical hit and I lost my match XD

I get I have a huge Lucario weakness and I should probably run Recover on Starmie.

Possible additions to my team:

-Light Screen Zapdos
-Celebi
-Vaporeon
-Tangrowth, yes Tangrowth.

Replaced Thunderbolt with Recover on Starmie. Swampert with Gliscor. Unfortunately without Thunderbolt on Starmie I get ass fucked by Vaporeon once Magnezone is out of the way.

Heh, I think I faced you today. It was with one of my more shaky test teams too (which I'm scrapping that one and probably experimenting some more).

If I didn't point it out, you also seem to have quite a few problems with a Dugtrio, since it can potentially kill a lot here. I guess the wierd exception was, for some reason, you didn't use Stealth Rock, and my Dugtrio kind of just shrugged and killed your Lucario (my EVs, so you know, were desinged to survive an Extremespeed by the way). I'm a little bit nervous about not using Magnet Rise on Magnezone as well, as Thunder Wave isn't oh so great, as your team has some good Speed, and Discharge might be a better move to try (however, this is my opinion chiming in, but I seriously recommend like it says in the analysis to use Magnet Rise and Substitute).

There hasn't been a situation where magnet rise has been critical as I usually am able to set up substitute. I'll update the thread later with the current version. I am not very fond of SDLucario at the moment :-\
