Hey guys, this is a team I put together because of Darmanitan, and I'm hoping to score a few wins with it, but since it ain't fine-tuned yet, I'm hoping you can give me constructive feedback to help me on my quest :D
At a glance:
In-depth:
DARMANITAN
Darmanitan @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
- U-turn
Holy hell is this guy strong. With his attack stat along with a Life Orb, this thing can OHKO practically everything in the tier, or hurt anything that resists it. I don't even need to do calculations to prove it, but here you go:
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Swampert: 33.4 - 39.6%
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Honchkrow: 172.7 - 203.5%
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Absol: 195.5 - 230.2%
252 Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Darmanitan Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arceus-Ground: 78.2 - 92.3%
Life Orb allows you to spam Flare Blitz, and still KO opposing Pokemon (without taking the LO recoil, a little trick you can use to convince opponents you're banded).
AMPHAROS (mega)
Ampharos @ Ampharosite
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Heal Bell
- Cotton Guard
- Dragon Pulse
- Thunderbolt
My utility pokemon, this little Ampharos can tank moves on both physical and special sides with Cotton Guard plus his superb SDef. Remember how I said Darmanitan could break walls?
252+ Atk Life Orb Darmanitan Earthquake vs. +3 248 HP / 252 Def Mega Ampharos: 26.3 - 31.8%
252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Mega Ampharos: 99.2 - 117.4%
252 SpA Rotom-H Overheat vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Mega Ampharos: 21.9 - 25.8%
+2 252 Atk Guts Ursaring Facade (140 BP) vs. +3 248 HP / 252 Def Mega Ampharos: 55 - 65%
Yeah, about wallbreaking. He can dent many weaker pokemon with his SAtk stat too, and heal himself (and the team, mainly himself because he's selfish) with Heal Bell.
GASTRODON
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Recover
- Scald
- Toxic
- Earth Power
My SDef wall and Toxic spreader, this squishy member off my team provides much needed resistances/immunities to Rock, Electric, Water and Fire. The idea is to switch in on any of those moves, force a switch, Toxic or Scald the incoming Pokemon, and whittle it down by spamming Scald and Recover.
252 SpA Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Gastrodon: 43.6 - 51.4%
252+ SpA Mold Breaker Mega Ampharos Dragon Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Gastrodon: 38.2 - 45.3%
252 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Gastrodon: 32.6 - 38.7%
252 SpA Alakazam Psychic vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 41.7 - 49.5%
Sadly, his x4 Grass weakness hurts, but at least everyone on my team can make up for that.
ROTOM-MOW
Rotom-Mow @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
Yet another way to dish out damage but trick opponents into thinking you're Spec'd. Volt Switch allows me to pull fast switches, HP Fire is good for coverage.
252 SpA Rotom-C Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Chandelure: 52.8 - 62.4%
252 SpA Expert Belt Rotom-C Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowbro: 134 - 158.8%
252 SpA Rotom-C Leaf Storm vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Absol: 101.1 - 119.5%
252 SpA Rotom-C Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Aerodactyl: 88 - 103.9%
Don't you love one-shotting things.
HERACROSS
Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
It's okay if Heracronite is banned in UU though, Heracross is still really stong as a late game cleaner. Close Combat and Megahorn takes out everything low on health, and with the Moxie boost, Heracross doesn't need to switch out as much to change moves.
252 Atk Heracross Megahorn vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mega Ampharos: 47.9 - 56.5%
252 Atk Heracross Megahorn vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Jirachi: 37.3 - 44%
252 Atk Heracross Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Goodra: 49.2 - 58%
252 Atk Heracross Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Empoleon: 87.6 - 103.7%
His x4 weakness to Flying doesn't really matter either, because teammates can usually kill off those Pokemon.
STARMIE
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Rapid Spin
Starmie's offensive variant is much better for this team, being able to punch holes in Pokemon that are not resistant to Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, and Psyshock. Being able to counter sash leads helps too, by using Rapid Spin to finish them off and clearing the hazards they set up.
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Absol: 107.7 - 126.9%
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mega Aggron: 68 - 80.5%
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Meganium: 42 - 50%
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Darmanitan: 177.7 - 209.6%
So as you can see, Starmie's wallbreaking power is phenomenal with its above-average speed. Natural Cure is over Analytic because I feel the latter isn't used as often to be worth it.
Conclusion:
I think this is a team that can be built better, and to counter more threats in the UU tier. So with your help, I can make a better, more powerful team.
Cheers,
Emberhuddle
