I love my Toxic Spikes. (An OU Team)

Well, I'm new to making teams. My first team (UU) went pretty well, but I decided that I needed a OU team to be able to battle against everyone on Smogon, since a UU team just can't cut it most of the time.

Basic Strategy: Roserade sets up Toxic Spikes after sleeping the opponent's lead, and then switches to the appropriate counter. Dugtrio and Metagross sweep, while Breloom stalls, and Milotic and Tentacruel are there for support and walling.

Roserade @Focus Sash
Natural Cure
Timid with: 6 HP / 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed
- Toxic Spikes
- Sleep Powder
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power FIRE

Roserade is an amazing lead. She hits 306 speed with this set, which out speeds most of the common OU leads. The basic strategy here is sleep their lead, set up Toxic Spikes, then switch out, or attack, depending on what they have. Toxic Spikes do amazing things, especially when coupled with Breloom. Hidden Power Fire is great for things like Bronzong, (If they don't have Heat Proof) Skarmory, and other steels. Focus Sash is there to take the possible OHKO from faster leads, so Roserade can still do its job.

Dugtrio @Choice Band
Arena Trap
Jolly with: 252 Attack / 6 SpDef / 252 Speed
- Sucker Punch
- Earthquake
- Aerial Ace
- Stone Edge

Standard revenge-killer. He never fails me. Excellent type coverage. Switch in, get the job done, then die. (Most of the time) Not much to say about 'Trio.

Breloom @Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
Impish with:
236 HP / 40 Atk / 216 Def / 16 Spe
- Substitute
- Mach Punch
- Spore
- Leech Seed

Staller. I had Seed Bomb over Leech Seed, but this set works much better, especially against bulky things. Set up a Sub, Leech Seed, and then just stall them by setting up constant Subs. Poison Heal and Leech Seed give Breloom a lot of damage, and he can't take status because of Toxic Orb. Coupled with Toxic Spikes inproves his stalling ability, as well. It nullifies Spore, but he still does his job. Breloom... is a beast.

Metagross @Leftovers
Clear Body
Impish with:
252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SpDef
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash

dpmba373.png

Salamence @Yache Berry
Intimidate
Adamant with:
252 HP / 20 Def / 162 SpDef / 76 Speed
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Earthquake

dpmba073.png

Tentacruel @Leftovers
Liquid Ooze
Calm with:
204 HP / 96 SpAtk / 172 SpDef / 36 Speed
- Knock Off
- Surf
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Electric

Another wall. Knock off is amazing to screw up sweepers, and he does decent damage. Surf and Sludge Bomb for STAB, and Giga Drain to heal, as well as type coverage.

Problems that I can see: I think that Milotic or Tentacruel need to be taken out for a physical wall, since I don't have a decent one. Metagross doesn't do much, either. Otherwise, it seems pretty solid to me. (So far)

All comments are appreciated! :D

I think I saw this team when I was trading with you =P

To utilize spikes you really should have a ghost pokemon to block rapid spin. So you should probably add dusknoir or spiritomb on somewhere.

I was thinking about Dusknoir, yet I'm not sure what to take out for it.

I was thinking taking out Milotic for Skarmory, and Tentacruel for Dusknoir, and rely quite a bit on Spikes, but I don't know if that would work too well. Milotic is kind of useless when things are poisoned, since Hypnosis fails.

I also need a better sweeper than Metagross. (Or changing his set to AgiliGross, CB Gross, etc.)

HP Fire means that your Speed IV need to be 30, which ruins Roserade's speed. You may as well run 248 Spe to outrun neutral Garchomp, even through it's a really minor change.

However, I don't really see Breloom fitting in anytime soon. Roserade already run Sleep Powder and is even your lead, and Spore is Breloom's selling point. Without it Breloom is pretty much a worse Machamp/Heracross.
That also goes for Tentacruel. Toxic Spikes and the poison types is its thing, but Roserade is doing the same. It's pretty much a worse Milotic without it, who's currently in your team. Mamoswine and Garchomp pretty much walks all over you due no real Ground resistance, so I would suggest using a Bronzong as it deal with them both better then anything else. A reliable Fighting resist would do you much good too, considering Lucario and a Scarfcross currently cause a lot of trouble seeing how none can take them on effectively. Oh, and giving Milotic HP Electric would neutralize Gyarados really well too.

Like I said, Breloom is a great staller. I might take out Spore for Seed Bomb. But, I see your point.

Also, Milotic and Tentacruel are the weak points, since they are the same. But, HP Electric won't work here, since this team is ingame, and I have trouble breeding for Hidden Power types.

Forsworn's tentacruel is redistributable and has hp electric, it can be traded for rather easily.

You have three pokemon that can sleep, I really think that's a waste of moveslots. I suggest you get rid of milotic for skarm or bronzong as they are good defensive steels and can set up stealth rocks which you oddly don't have. Tentacruel and milotic are also kind of similiar (imo). However this leaves you vulnerable to fire moves in general so you might want to change the team up a bit.

Psychic isn't that common in OU. But, I think I'll switch out Milotic for Skarmory, and Tentacruel for Dusknoir. Also, probably Metagross will be taken out for Salamence.

Does that sound good? Also, what set do you think would fit for Salamence?

EDIT: Also, what could replace Breloom? And, thanks for the help so far. :D
