i need help in building a team

yeah ive been reading smogon for a while, but i still do not understand most things.i need help making an effecient team,or just a team, what should i do first?

Try the Battling 101 Program. The next round should start in early September.

RMT Achieve is the way to go. I wouldn't have been able to build any of the teams if it wasn't for the players that made those teams and gave me an idea on what makes a successful team.

Do you know what EVs and IVs are? Do you know what things like Phazer or Suicide lead means?

If not, you need to read Intro to Competitive Pokemon and Pokemon Dictionary.

yes i know what ev's and ivs are. unholy calamity, thanks i checked all those teams out. and that quote you gave me, that is seriously awesome.

Yeah, just browse through some of the archived teams and warstories as well as various articles on the site to help get your feet wet. Personally, though, after doing that I'd try to put together a team and test it out on shoddybattle which can be found here: http://shoddybattle.com/downloads

One of the best ways to learn is to take the hands on approach and try it for yourself. Then you can make adjustments yourself or post your team in the RMT forum for more experienced players to help you tweak it.
