SM OU I need help with a solid OU team to get my fire back, please :]

Hello everyone in this awesome community :] so I'm back from extinction when it comes to posting here lol I'm more of a lurker than a poster but I have been a part of the community for a while and I love it because I'm the T-Rex of the community and loving it! :]

This beast needs help with team building. Ever since Gen 7 rolled around, I have been STUCK hardcore when it comes to building a very solid team to make it my signature team! I wanted to come to you all for a helping hand in this because I really want to get back into the competitive scene into the OU tier. That tier is what started it all for me. :]

I wanted to give you all a head start on what i have in mind and, who knows..I might have cracked this team and not even know it but I likely need to make quite a few changes so every little or big criticism WILL be very helpful :]

Latias @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

So I wanted to try my hand with building a team around Mega Latias given how reliable it is IMO. With decent typing, solid bulk and a great speed for a bulky supportive Pokemon, I felt like it would be a crime to pass up this chance to build a team around this fantastic Pokemon! Defog is there for hazard control, recover is there for HP restoration, Ice beam and Thunderbolt form the "boltbeam" combo which hits NEARLY everything for neutral damage. Garchomp, Landorus hate Ice beam while Mantine, Keldeo, Gyarados and Toxapex struggle with thunderbolt.

Clefable (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Heal Bell
- Flamethrower

So Clefable is there as team support. Mega Latias is a tank but even she has her limits and flaws! Clefable is aimed to be a cleric to heal statuses as well as be a secondary tank in this team. I chose Magic Guard because of how reliable that ability is against teams that rely on statuses. Moonblast for STAB, Soft-Boiled for healing, heal bell for clerical support and flamethrower to shaft Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 220 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

So we have the other member of this beefy trio of shields! Heatran is there to be a HUGE blanket check to fairy types like Mega Mawile, Magearna, Tapu Lele and more. The EV spread makes this a special defensive counterpart to Clefable making this team have more mixed defensive capabilities. We have enough speed to outpace max speed base 50 speed Pokemon like Mega Mawile and Azumarill. Lava Plume is there for STAB and a 30% chance to burn, Toxic to cripple switch ins, taunt to shut down any form of set up and Stealth Rock as this teams way of having entry hazard support. I MAY substitute Toxic for Roar as this team COULD be weak to set up mons and it goes will with getting chip damage from hazards.

Landorus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Fly
- Smack Down
- Swords Dance

So this is our wrecking ball of the team! Landorus absolutely WRECKS after an SD or two! The Flyinium Z makes Fly turn into a base 175 power move which obliterates anything weak to it, even Pokemon like Clefable, Tapu Fini and more will be dealt a HEAVY blow by this move. Earthquake is for STAB, Fly for the Z move to work and also have flying STAB, Smack Down to rid flying types of any escape from Earthquake while dealing solid damage to Mega Pinsir and other Rock type weaknesses. Swords Dance is there to set up your crazy high attack even to loftier heights!

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 200 HP / 56 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Ice Beam
- Volt Switch

So now we get to another Pokemon that can dish out pain while also taking loads of it! Assault Vest Magearna is another solid choice I had in mind to not only give more defensive backbone to the team but also with its Ability Soul Heart, be able to start snow balling the Special Attack up everytime she nets a kill. We have more of a defensive AV Magearna rather than an offensive variant as this seems to be a more beneficial way of using this particular set. Fleur Cannon and Flash Cannon are both for STAB, Ice beam for any Zygarde or Landorus switch ins, Volt Switch to give switch initiative and scout the opponent. Give this is a slower volt switch user, this will be good!

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- U-turn

So this is my special attacker of the team where it's sole purpose is to attack and nothing else! I really wanted to use Ash Greninja because of how well it fits the Volt Turn core with Magearna allowing fast U-Turns to get out of bad situations as well as have a solid offensive presence! Choice Specs is there for maximum punishment. Hydro Pump and Dark Pulse are both for STAB as well as Water Shuriken being there for priority too. U-Turn is there for scouting and for the Volt Turn core with Magearna.

So this is my team, i hope I can make this team even better with all of your help Smogon friends! :D Thank you for your time and patience!

Yo MegaCrasher!! It's Temp :]. Really cool team. Mega Latias is definitely one of my favorite megas that has come out this generation, and it certainly can be a defensive and an offensive force! I'll go into any potential team flaws or weaknesses so that you can find even more success. Let's get into it~

Team Checklist -
- Ground Immunity
- Water Resist(s)
- Zygarde Check
- Ash Greninja check
- 2+ Steels / 1 Fairy
- Zard-Y check
- Rain check(s)
- Stallbreaker
- Wallbreaker
- Hazard setter
- Hazard Removal
Green = good
, Yellow = average, Red = bad

So based on the team checklist, I'd assume the most threatening teams are those with Stall, Rain, a Zygarde, and a Specs Ash Greninja. I'll try to focus on these 4 as I tweak this team.

latias-mega.gif
- First, I would make this Mega Latias CM + Stored Power. It allows Latias to plow through stall, almost effortlessly. Unaware from Clefable may ignore the CM boosts, but it doesn't ignore the power boost from Stored Power, so it doesn't wall. Sableye can eat Stored Powers for days because it's immune, but it doesn't appreciate Thunderbolts at +5 and +6. Toxapex can't reliably Haze the boosts away. Mega Latias can't even get trapped, but can be Toxic'd from Dugtrio. Chansey will die as well. Skarmory can't touch it, either.
Latias @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Recover
- Thunderbolt

clefable.gif
- Clefable doesn't really need Heal Bell. It's beneficial to have a cleric for CM Mega Latias, but Clefable itself absorbs status due to Magic Guard. Imo, replace Heal Bell with Thunder Wave to cripple things.

heatran.gif
- I don't really care for Heatran on this team. It barely checks Mega Mawile / Lele / Magearna, assuming they have the coverage and/or chip damage for Heatran (Knock Off / Focus Blast / All-out Pummeling). I would personally go for Celesteela in this instance. It can handle this Pokemon more reliably, as even if they have the proper coverage (Thunder Punch / Thunderbolt / Gigavolt Havoc), you can scout with Protect. This also provides another Ground immunity and has a great synergy with Clefable.
Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 132 Def / 124 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Heavy Slam
- Flamethrower

landorus-therian.gif
- Due to my change from Heatran to Celesteela, you lost a Stealth Rocker. I would now opt for Stealth Rock over Swords Dance. Even without a boost, Landorus hits extremely hard with its Z-move. Also, I would go for a Jolly nature rather than an Adamant nature. Adamant, as far as I know, doesn't have many notable advantages over Jolly. It only makes you slower than Zygarde and Mew.

magearna.gif
- Magearna is amazing, especially as an Assault Vest user. However, to slightly buffer your Rain weakness, I'd like to change it to Tangrowth. Tangrowth will give you an easier time vs. Rain, Zygarde and Ash Greninja at the same time. The reason I don't consider Magearna that great vs. Ash Greninja is because Magearna lacks a form of recovery. This means Magearna is very easy to wear down with Spikes and constant Specs Hydro Pumps. Tangrowth, on the other end, has Regenerator, so it will heal up every time it switches in.
Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 228 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power Ice
- Earthquake

greninja-ash.gif
- I'd like to propose two options for Ash Greninja on this team. Either replace U-turn with Spikes to keep up offensive pressure, or change Ash Greninja to Starmie. If you opt for Spikes, you will no longer have any form of hazard removal (because Latias was changed). Not many of your Pokemon, aside from maybe Tangrowth, are directly affected by hazards. And if you keep up offensive pressure with Greninja and Landorus, it should be decently hard for them to set them up without losing momentum. However, if Tangrowth being worn down overtime by Spikes & Rocks is an issue, you can opt for Starmie to remove hazards. It still acts as an offensive, special attacking Water-type, but it loses that Wallbreaker role. Personally, I'd recommend Starmie, as this bulky team is prone to being worn down.
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power Fire
- Rapid Spin

Importable: (click me!)

Hope you enjoyed the rate and I hope these tips help out! Wooooo!! :]
(Btw, are you doing a live with your team? :o)
