Hey there everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. So without further hesitation, here is my first semi-successful OU team.
First, I want to start off with my wall core:
&
Rotom-W is my special attack tank. Rotom-W is to come in and absorb all those special attacks and Pain Split the opponent to low HP and stall if need be, he can then hit pretty hard with a Hydro Pump or T-bolt against anything else. Thunder wave is for destroying those fast special attackers like Alakazam or Gengar and then countering their frailness.
Skarmory is my defogger for getting rid of Stealth Rocks and spikes since I don't have them myself. I also use him to switch into any good physical hit since that rocky helmet damage is a good chunk and he can just Roost it back up. Toxic for destroying those pesky walls and Brave Bird so I can't get taunted to struggle and does some decent damage against the grass and grass poison type since they can't do much to me.
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 236 Def / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
- Toxic
- Roost
- Defog
- Brave Bird
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 100 SpA / 156 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split
Next I wanted to choose my Mega and a sweeper for my team, thus, we have Mega-Gardevoir and Garchomp.
&
Mega-Gardevoir, the swift special attacker to sweep the enemy team. M-Garde is an amazing sweeper that can do great crippling if you play it right. With Will-O-Wisp, most opponents will switch in their steel type to take a Hyper Voice but instead get a Will-O-Wisp to the face and stop being useful. Hyper Voice is just an amazing fairy STAB that can OHKO a lot of Mon's that aren't ready for it. Energy Ball is just for coverage and Psyshock is a great psychic STAB that hits those special defense walls and breaks them.
Garchomp, the scary-ass land shark that has never quite fallen. Theres not too much to say about AddyScarf Chomp, you seen a Mon that you want out, you click the move that will kill or kill the predicted switch and it dies. If it didn't die and Garchomp is still alive, you click it again since you're stuck with it anyway. EQ for that hard hitting ground STAB, even while burned I've seen people underestimate how much damage this move can do. Dragon Claw for the dragon STAB, I prefer it over Outrage since I don't like not being able to switch out or confusion for that matter. Iron Head for the nice fairy prediction switch-in and Crunch for when they think their Gengar or Alakazam will be faster, guess what, it isn't (Unless its scarfed >.>). Last, the Rough Skin is nice for more chip damage against a Flare Blitz or something that Garchomp can take without losing too much HP.
Gardevoir-Mega @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Energy Ball
- Psyshock
- Will-O-Wisp
Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Iron Head
- Crunch
Last, but not least, I wanted some bulk and coverage. Welcome Conkeldurr and Raikou to the team.
&
Conkeldurr is a great bulky physical hitter. With Ice Punch and Fire Punch he has great coverage that will help me take out a lot of Mons. Mach Punch is there for the priority and a quick revenge if need be, while Drain Punch allows me to recover that health he lost from taking a big hit. I've really enjoyed using Iron Fist w/ Assault Vest. This allows Conk to take those Sp.A hits and continue fighting while being able to heal. It definitely catches people off guard as most tend to think Conk will be Flame Orb /w Guts.
Raikou, I'm still on the fence about. There are times where he can make the whole battle easier but other times where he is just a hindrance and I'll just Volt Switch sack him until hes out. Though, that is one nice thing, with Choice Specs, Volt Switch hits pretty hard and allows me to gain that momentum I need to a better switch. Thunderbolt is for the electric STAB against anyone that think they'll out speed and not switch out from it. Shadow Ball has been my Latios/Latias destroyer as Raikou can take a Draco Meteor and most of the time outspeed them as well (Unless they're scarfed). The Extrasensory is just nice coverage against the poison/fighting types.
Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
Raikou @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Extrasensory
And that is my team, hope you enjoyed the write up. :) Any criticism and advice is very welcomed!
THREATS:
Ferrothorn: Yeah... somehow I forgot about this guy and didn't realize it till I had to face one. Conk has Fire Punch to take care of it, Garchomp can use EQ but other then that, Im kinda screwed. (See the 2nd replay)
Mega Alataria: Depending on that variant, DD or CG, I have a chance. Garde can WoW or T-Wave it with Rotom-W while Garchomp can come in and Iron Head or Conk with Ice Punch. Though extremely risky since both are weak to fairy.
Breloom: I hate Spore and the fact that I don't have a grass mon or Natural Cure doesn't help. Usually he can't do too much damage but it still can be crippling to my team.
Not having Knock Off: This has definitely hurt me a couple times where a Porygon-2 (see first replay) has stalled me hard. Not sure what Mon should get it or who to replace for it.
