Hey guys,
I hope this is in the right section since it is an idea for the community but may require some technical programming.
Anyways, my idea is to do something similar to what E-Sports, in particular Korean Starcraft, does and broadcast games, or provide commentary on games for which we keep replays.
Now, the replays part would have to programmed, something that can basically go through a battle move by move, on time of course, with graphics (to differentiate from a war story). Once this is done, we can archive them, perhaps keeping super special games or the finals of tournaments or whatever archived so people can go relive them.
Then, if we want, we could have a commentator group which can do live games (such as scheduled finals of tournaments) or can go over old games and give insight into what players are thinking, what do they know, what can they do at a certain time and make the replays more fun to watch.
This would help the community because:
1) It can help people learn strategies by watching very good players play
2) It can be very entertaining and draw publicity to competitive pokemon
3) It's a good way to archive big games, historical moments, crazy strategies that get pulled off, etc.
Now, it would be hard to determine what games are worthy of this, and with so many games played it would be silly to ask a group to watch them all and pick some to capture on replay so perhaps, at first, it remains small scale, for Tournament hosters to use or maybe it's a function reserved for players of a certain rating (which may act as an incentive to ladder competatively).
I think this could be a good way to add some flair to what we do here. What do you guys think?
Cheers!
