Hi Guys! This is my second RMT, but first one in OU. I've tested this team before and it works really well, but I want to make sure I have as many of the holes covered before I go for a high ladder. So, here is my team!
No question here. Altaria is the main purpose of this team.
I decided to put Keldeo on the team so I can keep the pressure on Ground Types with Specs. I also put Heatran so I could get rocks up and have a counter for when Talonflame comes out.
I added Banded Landorus-T on the team because I saw that my team was lacking some physical power. I also put Slowbro on so I could still pressure Hippowdon, Excadrill, and other various Ground Types if Keldeo goes down or on Talonflame if Heatran goes down.
Finally I added Tornadus-T so I could have a decent pivot and a counter for Keldeo.
After a while, I found that Mega Sableye and Bulky Water types were hurting my team. I changed Heatran to Sylveon and Tornadus-T to Amoonguss so I could counter these things I also changed Landorus-T from Band to Scarf so I could outspeed threats to my team, like Latios and (pre-ban) Greninja.
Again, Bulky Water types were still a problem. I replaced Amoonguss with Thundurus so I could keep them in their place while getting rid of Keldeo easily.
Seeing as how Thundurus just wasn't getting the job done, I replaced him with Raikou so I could only have one pokemon weak to rocks. I also changed Keldeo to a Sub+Calm Mind set so I could benefit from it more. I got back Heatran for Sylveon and changed its moveset to an Offensive Taunt Balloon Tran so I could get rid of rocks altogether and be able to get rid of bulky Grass types, like Celebi( fudging thing
)
Tris (Altaria) (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Double Edge --> Return
- Roost
- Earthquake
So, obviously a Mega Altaria team needs Mega Altaria! I wanted to go for the special variant, but I saw that it didn't work out for me, so I chose a setup sweeping class. Dragon Dance is to help outspeed most pokes in the metagame with just one Ddance. After a while quite a bit of you said that the extra power wasn't needed, so I just changed Double Edge to Return. Roost is here so I can recover damage from recoil and rocks. Earthquake was chosen over Outrage for me(I still don't know why I chose Outrage :P) so that a steel type wouldn't be the demise of a sweep.
Julio (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Calm Mind
One of my 2 Special attackers is Keldeo. My previous set was Specs so I could have extra power, but after a while Darkerones said that Sub+Calm mind would still have the same power as Specs after one turn, and it could do more things than Specs, also including what Specs could do.
Sina (Heatran) (F) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Taunt
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
Another Pokemon who got a complete makeover! Air Balloon is to help me pose a threat to Earth Powah Celebi. Taunt is used to stop the fast setup sweepers and hazard setters. Fire Blast and Earth Power are to get rid of other Trans that aren't Air Balloon and to get rid of Bulky Grass Types, like Venusaur, Chesnaught, and the aforementioned Celebi. Tran would be replaced with a Spinner/Defogger, but I just couldn't see which pokemon would fit.
Christopher (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 Atk / 32 Def / 228 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Superpower-->U-Turn
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
I really wanted to keep Band, but so many people said that Scarf was a better choice. So I said screw it, and you guys were right! I changed Superpower to U-Turn so I could have a pokemon with power when he pivots.
Nicole (Slowbro) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Toxic
- Psyshock
"Hang on, let me tank this call really quick." Get it? Because the picture looks like Slowbro has a phone and its a good tank? Hahaha... ok sorry :(. But Bro is my Physical wall and Hot Dang it's amazing! It takes up Knock offs and Sucker Punchs from Bisharps handily, and checks Megazard X without Thunder Punch, Physical Venusaurs(I have seen them, trust me), and just about any other Physical attacker out there.
Mike (Raikou) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Again, this is where Darkerones stepped in to help, and Raikou really helps out! A +1 Suicune or Slowbro-Mega can still be checked with Raikou, and it helps out with a threat of Gengar, Bulky Waters, and various other things that my other pokemon before this couldn't do.
Threats:
Sableye(Mega):
Yep. I know that dramadrama pointed this out, and it actually is a big threat. I can only get rid of it with Altaria, and if Altaria faints that should be it if Sableye is still up and running.
Kyurem Black:
Another one that dramadrama pointed out. Slowbro can barely take 2 Fusion Bolts, It most likely has a scarf, so I don't know if sending out Keldeo would be safe. Ice Beam takes out Altaria and Lando-T. Raikou can't touch it.
Importable:
Tris (Altaria) (F) @ Altarianite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
