Ill Will

Hello,

I've been working on this team for a while, but I've been under performing. I am bringing it here to see if I need to change up the team, or if my own skill is keeping a good team from shining, or both.

The Win Condition

Spread Toxic and Burn status to wear down opponents. Use Pokes with good bulk and survivability to outlast the team. Once the enemy team is sufficiently worn down, bring in Dragonite (safely) for a sweep.

The Team

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Sludge Bomb
- Toxic

Other than Rotom, Mega Venusaur is the highest performing team member. Giga Drain is used over a stronger attacking move to give me survivability. Knock Off is a decent coverage move with a lot of utility, even without being invested in Atk. KO really wrecks a lot of walls by getting rid of Berries, Leftovers, and Assault Vests.

Sludge Bomb + Toxic feels redundant to me. I would love to switch one of these with Synthesis and then switch Giga Drain to something stronger. IDK if I would rather have the reliable status affliction of Toxic, or if I should go for the damage with a chance of status.

Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Rest

Highest performing member of the team. Rest + Chesto has been the most reliable way to heal Rotom, so I prefer that over Pain Split. Will O' Wisp is a crucial part of my win condition. It dismantles opposing sweepers, and Rotom usually stays alive long enough to spread the love.

Volt Switch gives me a solid VoltTurn core with Scizor. I would love to fit a U-Turn on Gliscor as well, but I feel like Gliscor's movepool is the most set in stone... Rotom forms a great defensive core with MVenusaur and Gliscor. They cover each other's weaknesses pretty well. This is most apparent if one of them dies. I usually find my self close to swept shortly after one falls.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 184 Def / 252 HP / 72 Spd
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Toxic
- Protect

Toxic + Protect + Poison Heal is Gliscor's main job. Earthquake hits Steel types unaffected by poison. Knock Off is needed on Gliscor to hit switch ins and flying types. Without KO, I get walled by Skarmory, opposing Gliscors, and any Levitate/Flying type who can't be poisoned.

The speed EVs give me just enough to outspeed Base 100s.

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SDef / 248 HP / 8 Def
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Protect
- Roar
- Stealth Rock

Heatran is my main Stealth Rocker. SR is great for keeping Talon Flame and Mega Charizard X&Y in check, both of whom give me some trouble if Rotom W falls. I had Will O' Wisp on him for a bit, until I realized that Rotom-W can handle just about any burn I need. Roar makes Heatran my only Phazer, which can sometimes be problematic. Opposing set-up sweepers give me a lot of trouble, so protecting Heatran is often a priority.

Heatran finishes off my defensive core. Flash Fire gives me a cool fire immunity that Mega Venusaur and Gliscor enjoy. Thick Fat is helpful for Venusaur, but if I can have Heatran take the whole move, that's just better. Also you may think that Gliscor's ground typing helps it take fire moves, but his Spec Defense is low enough that I would rather switch to Heatran.

Scizor @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Defog

So you may notice that I have no speed investment. There is a good reason for this. Pursuit takes priority over the switch, and so I won't need to worry about speed there. Bullet Punch already has priority, and Scizor shrugs off most opposing priority moves. I like for U Turn to go last so that Dragonite can come in without taking damage.

I am willing to consider speed investment, but I like having a bulkier Scizor too!

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- ExtremeSpeed

My main set-up sweeper. Like I said earlier, the goal is to get Dragonite in safely after all my opponents have been inflicted with a status. I wouldn't mind Roost for extra survivability and for extra Multi Scale boosts, but I feel like that would mess with my sweeping potential. Lum Berry + Multi Scale almost guarantees at least one set up opportunity which is all Dragonite needs.
