I'm a D/P newb - Shoddy RMT

Some info about me: Like the title says, I'm new to D/P. I used to play netbattle all the time and I was pretty good at both G/S/C and R/S/E.

I have diamond version, but I don't have WI-FI access and so I usually don't bother playing it.

Then I heard of Shoddy, so I started reading the strategies and such posted for each common pokemon, and now I'm playing regularly on Shoddy.

Well, that's enough of that I suppose. On to the team, eh? :pimp:

Shadasma (Spiritomb) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/176 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Pain Split
- Taunt

Leads off for the obvious Gengar counter, and it surprises the hell out of a lot of people. They don't know how to handle it. Sucker punch instead of Hypnosis because I can use it to finish off speedy but weakened pokes. Lum because leading Gengar's like to put it to sleep.

Fat Bitch (Blissey) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 148 HP/252 Def/4 Spd/104 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Aromatherapy
- Toxic/Thunder Wave
- Softboiled
- Ice Beam

What's to be said? Pretty standard. I don't like seismic toss, and I get more use out of being able to kill dragons late game. I still like the idea of having Thunder Wave over Toxic, and I'm going to compare the two sets with a few battles. The reason I like Thuder Wave is because they often switch in something like Tyranitar/Salamence/Gyarados/Infernape and this pretty much gaurantees my counters will hit them first, and they may not be able to attack on the switch. Plus it gives Bliss a chance to hit Salamence with Ice Beam.

Sandy (Tyranitar) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/64 Atk/24 Spd/168 SAtk
Brave nature (+ Atk, -Spd)
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Ice Beam
- Crunch

TyraniBoah. Hurts things. I like Crunch over Dark Pulse because I find myself using it more often against pokemon with lower Def than SpD.

Lusora (Cresselia) (F) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/108 Def/148 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Psycho Shift
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Ice Beam

I forgot who created this, but I love it. In case it isn't obvious, this is used to shift burns and sleep status. Ice Beam for SubChomp. I'm not replacing Psycho Shift, because while Reflect+ Leftovers is better than burn, I think being able to shift sleep is more important. Perhaps I could just try shifting sleep and have Leftovers instead? I think that would make this poke a little less useful, but I'm not the expert, eh.

Meester Star (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 172 HP/216 Spd/120 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
- Surf
- Ice Beam

Okay, so now I have Ice Beam instead of Thunder Wave, and thus I have more offense. Here's the problem: Now I don't have Thunder Wave on the team at all and I have trouble crippling some faster threats. And about Life Orb: The extra damage is useful, but Star dies so much faster it doesn't seem to stay around for as long as I need it. Perhaps a change in EVs is needed? Update: After an excessive ammount of BS situations, I've decided to use Leftovers. For one thing, it needs to survive after Gyarados. Here's what happens: Gyara comes out, uses DD on the switch to Star, he uses attack move that takes Star to about 2%, Starmie uses bolt for the kill but then dies as well from Life Orb.

Eviscerator (Gliscor) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP/248 Def/8 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Roost
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
---
Ice Fang to deal with dragon's and other Gliscors. Speed EV's to outspeed most other Glisors.
---

The only major weaknesses I've noticed so far with this team are SubSeeding Sceptiles and Jumpluffs, and Scizor absolutely decimates me. How would I deal with these? Jumpluff hates Ice but the little ass doesn't let me in to kill it. Starmie, even if it were faster, would get put to sleep and I'd have to switch to cure it. Sceptile can't seem to hurt Blissey but Blissey can't hurt it either and it heals the enemy by assloads. Scizor is just plain mean. I also suck at fighting the standard "Super Effective" Electivire, but I guess that's the point of him.

So I guess that's it. Thanks for any help!

Substitute Garchomp completely destroys your team. Psycho Shift isn't going to work on it and nothing else is going to be switching in on it. Which means you should go with Ice Beam on that last slot to alleviate this. Psychic is only for Infernape anyway, which Starmie can deal with. Grass Knot is for... Mamoswine? But Mamoswine isn't doing jack to Cresselia anyway. Also note that Cresselia isn't going to be countering Gengar any soon.

Lastly on Cresselia, Perhaps try Reflect over Psycho Shift? Reflect accomplishes the same job of 1/2ing someone's attack and it's not a one shot deal and gives Cresselia that Leftover recovery she desperately wants.

Go with Toxic on Blissey. It'll help you in the long run since this team might have to start stalling once TTar is down. Considering your team isn't too offensive at all I don't see where TWave would help out too much over Toxic which might help you deal some damage... Which means also consider running Ice Beam on Starmie, and consider running Life Orb on it(Which can 2HKO Togekiss which is something you desperately want) to give your team the extra firepower your team desperately wants.

Changes made to original post.

Edit: I'm thinking of changing Gliscor's speed to 72 EVs to beat Jolly Tyranitar and Timid Magnezone...

Edit2: Yeah, went with that and it works well. The whole team seems a lot better now. But I definately am weak to Weavile, and I don't know what to do on quick sub-seeders, Celebi(When Spiritomb is gone), Electivire, and Scizor. Wobbuffet is also a bitch. Magnezone stalls and eventually sweeps if it subs before I can get in Gliscor.

Edit3: I've also got too much ice on my team and I end up having to switch to Star to do neutral damage a lot of times. But without all this ice, I have even less chance of killing Fagchomp.

I sense a slight Weavile weakness, 1-2HKOing your team. Reflect is a good option. Taunt on Spiritomb is genius, especially with the common ScarfGar running around. Toxic for your Blissey is good to last stall wars w/o SToss. Some TTars & fast Pokemon can give problems. But, this team is good. 8.5/10

My need for a Weavile counter and ice types in general makes me want to consider Bronzong over Gliscor. What would the recomended set be? The problem here is I would no longer have a strong Earthquake user, which I really need. He can use it, but no STAB.

Consider useing Seismic Toss somewhere on Bliss, perhaps over Ice Beam as you've got gliscor and starmie as fine Garchomp counters, not to mention Cress.

Have you ever faced Garchomp before? You need a fair ammount of luck in order to hit him with a sandstorm going. I don't have luck, so I need backup. Also, I've not once thought, "Gee, I sure wish I had seismic toss right now" because generally when I switch in Blissey it's either better for me to use Aromatheorpy for my team, or Toxic to hinder whatever they switch to. Ice Beam allows me to occasionaly kill something weak to it and gives Bliss a fighting chance against Substituters like Gengar. That's better than the occasional Seismic Toss on something that will probably just recover from it anyway.

Okay, this will probably be my last bump. Does anyone have advise on the new problems I've presented? I've also ditched the idea of Bronzong over Gliscor. I tried it and it doesn't work out.

I know I can't counter EVERYTHING, but I would like to make this team as good as possible.
