I'm inexperienced at making thread titles (OU)
Long time lurker here..recently started getting back into Pokemon after a few months of just being bored by the current metagame. Unfortunately, it hasn't really changed at all since then, but it's inspired me to try out different styles of playing. The slow-moving metagame has at least allowed me to jump back in quickly with a Trick Room team that I've devised.
Note: Heracross has full Speed IVs, Slowbro has 3 (to get the best hidden Power), and everyone else has 0.
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Heatproof
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/176 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Trick Room
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
Only thing really noticable about this Bronzong when compared to other ones (aside from Trick Room) is it's Heatproof ability. It helps me beat lead Heatran, Azelf, and Infernape while being sneaky and making opponents think I'm still using Levitate. Against the top 10 leads:
vs Metagross: Both SR on first turn, Metagross usually switches out to a sleep absorber as I TR, and I go from there. He doesn't EQ because he doesnt' know I have Heatproof
vs Azelf: I actually haven't seen any yet. I'd probably just Gyro Ball twice as he Taunts and uses SR
vs Swampert: Again, he doesn't know I have Heatproof, so we both just SR and then I set up TR as he does like, 25% with Waterfall or switches out
vs Aerodactly: Gyro Ball x2
vs Infernape: After a possibe Fake Out, I use Trick Room as he Stealth Rocks, and then switch out as he tries to Encore. Alternately, I just set up as he does 40% max with Overheat
vs Hippowdon: Stealth Rock, then switch to Slowbro for the Toxic
vs Ninjask: Gyro Ball, then:
-If he used Swords Dance + Focus Sash, I use Trick Room as he Baton Passes out. x]
-If he uses Sub, I use Stealth Rock is anticipation of Protect. Even if he uses Sub again, my Trick Room ruins his strategy in the end
-If he uses Protect, I use Gyro Ball when he uses Substitute, set up SR when he Protects, Gyro Ball on Sub, TR on Protect, etc.
vs Bronzong: We both SR, then I use TR, either watching as Light Screen or Hypnosis gets thrown at me. This is the only top 10 lead that I don't really like
vs Tyranitar: SR, TR, Gyro Ball
Against other leads, I usually just using SR, then Trick Room, followed by a possible Explosion if threats start coming in.
Heatran (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 SAtk
Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Earth Power
- Fire Blast
- Explosion
- Dragon Pulse
This Heatran is equally good, if not better, than most other Heatrans out there. Obviously he shines best when Trick Room is down, however, since he has expert belt, he can be brought in and pretend to be a Choice Scarfer to scare away the enemy if I don't have the Trick Room going. Also, this helps me get net some surprise kills, such as when people bring in their Celebi to stop what they 'think' is a Scarf Heatran's Earth Power, but then they get nailed by Fire Blast. The moveset itself is rather standard, but since I don't need speed, I've changed the EV spread around a bit. Max Special Attack is great, and with all those HP EVs I get ~390 HP and 248 defenses, which is awesome for walling hits considering Heatran's amazing resistances. In all, Heatran is usually the one to come in after Bronzong, to hit hard, scout out the opponent's team, and get a few early surprise kills. You'll notice that I now have 2 guys with Explosion, which I find great since the whole Trick Room strategy is based around hitting and running, and Explosions do just that.
Slowbro (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Surf
- HP Electric
- Slack Off
- Trick Room
First part of my defensive duo. Slowbro is mainly here to handle common threats such as Gyarados and Machamp, but he also has an important role in that he can come in after TR goes down, and be almost 100% successful in putting it back up, since almost nothing can one-shot this guy. Aside from Trick Room, everything is pretty standard.
Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/40 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Toxic
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Trick Room
Porygon 2 covers pretty much any big hitters that Slowbro or Bronzong can't handle, and in turn, I can go to Slowbro whenever I have to deal with fighting types. Wth tha combo, I can set up Trick Room easily against most Pokemon. There's nothing really surprising about this moveset in general, although I'm facing a dilemna with Toxic. I originally had it on Slowbro over HP Electric, but I found that Steel types were switching in like crazy on him, and that a lot of the things I needed to poison (Zapdos, Blissey, etc) were beating Slowbro before he could do much. Now, though, Steel types are switching in on Porygon 2. :| I could remedy that by having Toxic and Thunderbolt on Porygon 2, and that means Slowbro would have Surf and Ice Beam. Doesn't seem too bad, except I'm not sure that I can rely on Slowbro to deal with killing Latias, Flygon, Salamence, Dragonite etc. since Porygon generally is more useful due to Tracing Intimidate/Levitate. Help?
Rhyperior (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def
Brave nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Fire Punch
The newest addition to my team, I haven't had a whole lot of time to try him. Marowak was here before, and their movesets are the exact same, except Rhyperior has more chances to switch in and adds more synergy to my team. Probably the most replacable member, I'm up for suggestions.
Heracross (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Guts
EVs: 20 HP/252 Atk/236 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Megahorn
- Night Slash
- Stone Edge
Heracross quite a few roles on my team. Firstly, having someone fast is neccesary on any Trick Room team, since TR isn't always up. With 397 Speed, he always outspeed non-scarfed base 130s and below, not too shabby. Secondly, Heracross can come in and brings down annoying walls like Milotic and Cresselia, who my team can have trouble with. Finally, he provides urprise revenge kills (since people don't expect a Scarf), or can bring down threats who have worn down their counters and need to be dealt with immediatly (Zapdos, Tyranitar). Overall, a very important member of my team who I can rely on to pick up the slack, and of course, he adds some originality.
hope you enjoyed, sorry for any spelling errors, and thanks in advance for any rates.
