SM OU In comes Floatzel (peak 1871)

This is the 3rd team I am posting today. Arguably, it is the worst of my teams, but also the funniest. I present you the Floatzel team!

As for teambuilding, initially, I built this team around Fight-Z Jynx. In theory, it should beat lando and bait heatran, ttar and ferrothorn, being also a nice check to toxapex due to jynx’ ability, dry skin. In practice, its 35 base def made jynx not viable.

So, I chose the next best thing… Floatzel!

Sure, one could just bring protean greninja, but… where is the fun in that? Flotzel makes people let their guard down. So, yey!

Besides that, my usual Lead Diancie+Tapu+Hawlucha+eject button Pex combo. This time, I decided to go scarf Bulu, as a nice bait to Zard and Volc.

And, there we have it.

Now, that team is really weak to Hawlucha. As for the last mon, I tried koko, but that would have been too much tryhardery. I needed priority, a reliable way to beat chansey and Celesteela, and so on. I thought of Arcanine, but I decided Entei’s coverage was the way to go. And that also gave me some nice FGW core, which is good.

And here is proof of rank:

And sorry if this gets repetitive.

To the team, shall we?

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Substitute
- Endeavor

When I first faced this set, I considered it to be sheer shit. Honestly. But, man, was I wrong. This is basically an improved lead Nape. A lead Nape that doesn't need taunt, that scares M-Sableye and stall in general. Imo, it is the best lead in the game and people still don’t know how to deal with this mon.
To sum it up, get your SR, subs until you are 1HP or so, and endeavor. Watch out for ghost types comming, predicting the Endeavor. If you get the 50/50 right, you can moonblast a ghost to the face.
This, before mega evolves, can take Lando-Ts EQ even from offensive Lando-Ts, aside from adamant/earth plate/life orb/crit. Basically, it can take most EQs and AV Magearnas iron heads.

252+ Atk Landorus-Therian Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Diancie: 272-324 (89.4 - 106.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO
0 Atk Magearna Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Diancie: 232-280 (76.3 - 92.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

So, yeah, it's a lead mon that can annoy the opponent, specially stall. IT is great v. webs and can deal more for the team other than set up SRs.

180403

Hawlucha @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Acrobatics
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

Hawlucha is S/M quintescential sweeper (who would've known!). If you feel like checking/revenging Volcarona, Scarf Kartana etc., go Hawlucha. So that's what I did.
I see no reason to run any other EVs/Nature. The EVs allow me to outspeed/speed tie most Hawluchas, +2 Volcaronas, +2 Zard, +1 Blacephalon and max atk adamant grants me the kills I need. Pretty easy. Like: Hawlucha is pretty frail anyway, so you might as well go max/max and beat opposing Hawluchas.

252+ Atk Hawlucha Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. +1 104 HP / 0 Def Hawlucha: 264-312 (81.7 - 96.5%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

The moves: Acrobatics and SD (Duh). HJK to keep things interesting (that sweet 10% we all love). Subs to annoy Toxapex even further.

180404

Toxapex @ Eject Button
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Toxic/Toxic Spikes
- Haze
- Recover

Pex is the glue of the team. I love this lead diancie+pex combo so much, since Pex allows me to scout for sets, while also granting me momentum with eject button.
The set is self-explanatory.
Since there are so many Kartanas, Clef, Pex and other hazard removers, I prefer to run Toxic, but that is up to you.
Spdef is to counter Ash-ninja and Blacephalon.

180405

Tapu Bulu @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Super Power
- Rock Tomb

Here, a standard Scarf Bulu set, with Rock Tomb to hopefully beat Voncaronas that try to set up, or Zyrd-Y. Not much to be said. Aside from baiting, its main job is to beat opposing tapus, hitting hard in general, with wood hammer, and granting me an easier time v. rain teams.

And, now, for the 2 absolute stars of the team:

180406

Entei @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 48HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Stomping Tantrum
- Stone Edge
- Extreme Speed

Now Entei fits in this team like a glove. It beats Celesteela, Skarmory, Jirachi and Magerna without a sweat. Few mons can switch in to a Sacred Fire. Lando has a 50% chance to get burnt, as well as Chomper and TTar. OU is not prepared for Entei, which makes it a great mon. Espeed is specially good v. Greninja.

The other moves are for coverage, not much to be said there.

180407

Floatzel @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Swim Swift
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naïve Nature
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Aqua Jet
- Hidden Power Electric/Substitute/Taunt

Last but not least, the beast itself: Floatzel. Yes, greninja is 100% better; yes, you could just use Mew, it is also a great option. But Floatzel baits stuff, it has aqua jet for priority, it is fast and it has an useful ability.
Z-Focus Blast is the main thing going for Floatzel.
Ice beam v. Landos and Chompers.
HP electric v. Gyara and Pelliper.
You could go Subs, or taunt v. toxapex, both are good options.

180395
180396

Stall in general is a threat, since the only thing that can hit hard enough is Entei. Depending on the set, it doesn’t 2hko Chansey if rocks are not up, it is weak to SRs and the Life Orb drains our health little by little. Not to mention pyukumuku and quagsire. So, we need to play Diancie well to beat stall.

180394

Toxapex is really dangerous. Entei doesn’t hit hard enough to beat max def Pex, which is the standard version. So it is all about weakning pex and try to beat it with +2 Lucha. Often works, unless it is bunker.

180399

Grassy Terrain makes Kartana a threat. The 30 different Kart sets are always a pain ita, and there is always the risk that HJK misses.

180400

M-Alakazam is way too fast, but it has a 25% to get 1hko’d by acrobatics. Extreme Speed helps me with Zam, though the LeleZam combo can be overwhelming.

180401

Z-Victini. Just make sure you wear it down so that priority can take tini out of the way.

Team overview

The team is fun, Floatzel works well enough and Entei is a lord, honestly. The rest of the formula (Diancie+Pex+Tapulucha) has been proven great over and over.
I believe this team is really challenging v. stall, but great v. HO and good enough v. balance and BO.
Plus, you can just mess around with the last slot (Jynx, Floatzel, Ninja, Weavile, really, anything that can bait Ttar and Ferrothorn).
So, yeah, enjoy the team and have a good day!
