In love with Speed and Power.

Hey all. So this is gonna be my first post on the RMT thread, so yeah. I won't be so good at explaining things so please forgive me. But anyway, here is one of my best team I so far has ever formed when it all started out as random Pokemons to a very effective team to me:

392.gif

Kiva (Infernape)
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Blaze
Nature: Jolly
Evs: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4HP
-Flare Blitz
-Close Combat
-U-Turn
-Stone Edge

One of my few very important members in my team and a standard Choice Band set I need. U-Turn around mostly, scare my opponents and basically just need a speedy and hard hitting Fire-Type Pokemon. I guess that's all about him.

Saga (Lucario)
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
Nature: Modest
Evs: 252 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
-Aura Sphere
-Vacuum Wave
-Dragon Pulse
-Nasty Plot

I really need Lucario specially for Excadrills and some physical resisting walls. Dragon Pulse is mainly for some dragons or just to give some damage to Ghost-Type even though I know I see more with Dark Pulse. But I just got more troubles with Dragons than Ghosts. Vacuum Wave just for priority plus if Nasty Plot Boost makes it better. Aura Sphere is just my basic strongest Fighting-Type STAB move to give damage and such. That's all about my Lucario. Oh and, Modest nature since I prefer hitting slow but bulkier Pokemons more easier.

Sexy (Mienshao)
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Regenerator
Nature: Adamant
Evs: 252 Attack / 252 Speed / 4HP
-Hi Jump Kick
-Stone Edge
-U-Turn
-Poison Jab

Just a Choice Scarf Mienshao. I'm sure all of you know what Hi Jump Kick, Stone Edge and U-Turn does already by now. And as for Poison Jab, its just there for the lols. I basically do not know what to add. But still, it works for me. As for the nature, just like Lucario, I prefer hitting hard and it works more than me putting Jolly, it seems. That's all about Mienshao. And yeah I know I got like, 3 Fighting-Types in my team, but it works.

Caucasus (Zapdos)
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Modest
Evs: 252 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice
-Heat Wave
-Agility

Agility set... Why have I not seen it around before. Anyway, Zapdos is my best member around and my main sweeper in this team. Need to find a safe switch in or a good opportunity to setup on them. And it'll either just tear through teams till the end, or mini sweep, or anything it wants to do. Its best for countering Sandstorm teams or even other weather teams as long as I get rid of Zapdos checks first and once I managed to setup. Hidden Power is mainly for Dragon-Types and others just in case. It can be either Early, mid or late Game sweeper depending on how the match turns out.

Kabuki (Salamence) *Shiny*
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
Nature: Naive
Evs: 16 Attack / 240 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast
-Outrage
-Earthquake

The MixMence set from the olden 4th gen days. Anyway, really needed as a Wall Breaker and a mix attacker to keep my team alive to stop Pokemons from Gliscor to Reuniclus and many more or at least give some huge amount of damage. That's all.

635.gif

Ryuga (Hydreigon)
Item: Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Modest
Evs: 252 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed / HP
-Dragon Pulse
-Dark Pulse
-Flamethrower
-Surf

I got a lot of explaining to do for this one... So here goes nothing. Just like Mienshao, power seems to work well for me than speed. And yes, two Choice Scarfs, weird but works for me. And this may sound weird but, my Hydreigon, in a combo with my Mienshao, works really really well with an OK coverage. Not the best but still works like a charm. Anyhow, reason why I prefer Dragon Pulse is 'cos I wanna stay in the battle and hit whatever that comes in hard non-stop and Dark Pulse is just there to Flinch people. Flamethrower, just don't wanna risk a miss and hit right away to give as much damage as possible and Surf, just a standard move for a lot of Hydreigons. So, no comment on that one.

Well, that is basically all now. And yes, I am an offensive player and this is my only team that is pure offensive with no supporters, Pokemons that setup Entry Hazards or other stuff like that. But it works nicely and all of my Pokemons prefer power over speed but that does not apply to Infernape due to the fact that I am not fast enough and I don't have any speed setting up moves and with Choice Band, it works well enough already.
I guess that's all. Later, guys.

Hey there,

If you want to cover Dragons with your Lucario, I suggest you use Hidden Power Ice instead of Dragon Pulse. The reason behind this choice is that while you keep excellent coverage (Fight/Ice is one of the best in the game), you also get super-effective damage coverage against a really bigger pool of threats. The number one man you'll hit for heavy damage is Gliscor, a very common counter to Fighting types. You also hit a lot of dragons for x4 damage instead of x2.

Another thing that would be a great asset for your team is swapping Heat Wave or Hidden Power Ice on Zapdos for Baton Pass. It really helps scouting your opponent and works great with Agility. Lucario, Salamence and Hydreigon would really like to have +2 speed boosts. You lose a bit of coverage, so it's up to you. You could also switch Zapdos for a Nasty Plot Thundurus. It has more speed right off the bat, and is really a lot more powerful. Here's the standard set :

Thundurus @ Life Orb
Timid nature.
Ability : Prankster
EVs : 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden Power Ice
-Focus Blast
-Nasty Plot

I agree with Steeli on the Hp ice thing, since Gliscor laughs at every one of your fighting types without it. Even then, gliscor may catch Luke with an EQ on the switch, OHKO'ing it, so you have to be careful about that too. I don't really think you should switch Zapdos for Thundurus, but I don't feel like getting into that.

One thing I would suggest though is taking the scarf off of Mienshao. I understand that choicing him really lets him abuse regenerator (since you constantly switch with choiced pokes) but like you said, you have Poison Jab for lols. If you were to, say, give him a Life Orb, you could give him Fake Out instead, making him quite an effective lead pokemon (breaking sashes, doing extra damage, etc.) while at the same time giving him the ability to switch moves. Now I don't imagine him staying in for long periods of time anyway, so you could still abuse regenerator. This makes LO recoil meaningless, which I find is better than increased speed.

Last suggestion, is switching surf for Earth Power on Hydreigon. All I see surf doing is hitting Heatran, and EP does it better anyway, so yea.

I see you've brought back the classic all sweeper team, and did a pretty good job I must add. I like the items and offensive moves you chose and I think you covered up most weaknesses. As for changes, the only thing you really need is something with Rapid Spin. But even this is not completely necessary, but I do think it would help because of your moves like U-Turn which force you to switch out. Also Heat Wave on Zapdos isn't really need, since you have three other Pokemon with fire type moves already. I must be blind or something because thats all I can see for improvement.
Good Luck, Dragone

Hm, now that you mention about Gliscor, yeah you have a very good point there now. Although then it is weak to Chandelure, those things aren't as common as the dragons or Gliscor so I don't have to worry much. Thanks for the suggestion! I need to keep that on note that's for sure.
And as for Zapdos, its meant to be an Agility + 3 Attacking moves to keep Zapdos alive for a long long time and since I am meant to just sweep, sweep and sweep and not really much of a fan of Baton I got Thundurus on my other team that I will post it on RMT sometime. But anyhow, once again, thanks for all the suggestion! I will keep what you all said on note.

For some reason, I just like Mienshao as Scarf, and I am a crazy person to usually carry 2 Scarfs on my team. Anyhow, I also did tried Mienshao set before but didn't go well as I expect and I also needed to outspeeded certain +1 Speed Up Poke and I encounter more Modest Volcaronas than Timid so Mienshao can still outspeed and Stone Edge to the way.
And one last thing, I used to have Earth Power over Surf, but since its illegal to have Dark Pulse and Earth Power together on Hydreigon, I am forced to change it, sadly...

Maybe Hidden Power (Ice) for Mienshao? It hits everything that Poison Jab would hit and more.

But what about my very low 203 Sp attack stats? I dunno if it will OHKO common 4x Super Effective Pokes like Mence or Gliscor or Landlos. That's the thing I'm worrying and debating about for a long time.
