In the event of Garchomp's removal....

What do you think would happen if the "suspect" garchomp was found guilty and removed from standard play? How dramatically would the metagame change? What pokemon would become obsolete? What pokemon that hid in fear of garchomp would rise to power? What pokemon would become more powerfully because they don't have to use a moveslot for hidden power ice? Lay it out: post any significant or minor changes you think would occur.

I believe that all of the random noobs who use Garchomps will be screwed because they do not know what to turn to. Anyone can use a Garchomp effectively. He doesn't require much prediction because he can basically 2HKO anything. It will be bittersweet if Garchomp is banned to ubers because you will miss such a strong pokemon and be happy you do not have to face him again.

Garchomp being banned doesn't affect the viability of Salamence in any way. Salamence is still the most powerful non-Uber user of Draco Meteor, giving him a niche that Garchomp could never fill. Salamence's Intimidate makes a bulky set including Dragon Dance and Roost very viable, as he can wall many things lacking an ice attack very effectively while statting up.

Let's say I like Luvdisc (I don't, but let's use it as an example). I can't say "Yay, Garchomp's banning means I can use Luvdisc more!" Garchomp's status in the metagame doesn't magically make Luvdisc better, or make it fill a niche that Garchomp once held. Garchomp and Salamence were strong for two separate reasons, and there are many people who think that Salamence is in many ways better than Garchomp. (Access to Dragon Dance, better Special Attack, Intimidate) No matter what, you can use Salamence just as much as you wanted. I use Salamence as a strong special attacker, and Garchomp's removal doesn't make that any different.

So far people have been spamming Lucario, which is frustrating becacuse it was annoying when Garchomp was around too. Now there's a rise in Gliscor, and many of them are running moves other than Icefang and SR. With the rise of Gliscor it seems like we still need HP ice somewhere after all.

With no Garchomp doesn't mean more Salamence...maybe a rise Bronzong or Suicune or something =/

They created the suspect ladder for a reason, why don't you go try it out?

Honestly, this thread isn't really promoting much constructive discussion.

What's the point in going into hypothetical scenarios like this when the answer really isn't that far away? We'll either:

1) Know exactly what happens should Garchomp actually be removed.
2) Needn't have worried if Garchomp isn't banned as nothing will have changed.

It's true that removing Garchomp doesn't necessarily make Salamence more viable, but there is one thing you are forgetting. Garchomp and Salamence are countered by similar Pokemon, and can't switch into the same Pokemon. For this reason, if you have Garchomp on your team, it's generally a poor idea to add Salamence as well. With Garchomp being on so many teams, few people "have room for" Salamence. With Garchomp gone, so is that argument against using Salamence.
