IMPORTANT: Due to the limit of poll is 10, there are MORE polls below, such as Nature Cure, Speed Boost, etc. Please vote Others... above and post a reply. I will add them to the list when I come by. Any Mod who can edit my post, feel free to fill it in for me as well :D
Another IYO thread :pimp:

What do you think is the best ability that exists in game right now besides Wonder Guard, Arena Trap, Shadow Tag, Unaware, and Simple?

I realized that abilities such as Nature Cure, Speed Boost, Serene Grace, and Clear Body should be on there but the limit of the poll is 10 so I'll take them here. I'll try to update if I can. Mods/Admins, feel free to edit.

Nature Cure:
Speed Boost:
Serene Grace:
Clear Body:
Weather abilities (Drizzle, Sandstream, Drought and Snow Warning): ||
Huge/Pure Power: |
Others that is not even on this list due to impopularity:

Others: Just mention them and I'll add onto the list.

My favorite is Magic Guard (Clefable).

Drizzle
Drought
(Hands down the best, there's a reason these 2 are Uber)

Sand Stream

Weather-inducing abilities are probably the best in that they permanently effect how the battle plays out unless the whether is changed just by a Pokemon coming out, so there's no way to stop it. Snow Warning probably isn't that great, though.

After those, the abilities that gives a Pokemon immunities probably are the next best. I don't think I have to remind you how good of an ability Levitate is on nearly any type neutral or weak to Ground. Levitate, Water Absorb, Flash Fire, Motor Drive, Volt Absorb, they're all pretty good.

After that, these are probably among the best:

Natural Cure
Trace
Magic Guard
Intimidate
Speed Boost
No Guard
Serene Grace
Compound Eyes
Huge Power
Pure Power

Magic Guard is the best imo. Total immunity to passive damage and life orb recoil makes it really preferable. It's a shame that only clefable gets it.

Drizzle
Drought

There really is no argument that these are the two best abilities in the game. No other ability comes close.

Other then that I'd have to say Speed Boost. +1 speed every turn? Yes please. Hook me up with some of that.

i voted levitate. you get an immunity and yes, that's nice but even nicer is being immune to toxic spikes and spikes. spinners are really hard to fit on a team these days because of pursuit (for starmie) and the other guys lack good recovery moves. yet spikes gives you a whooping 25% damage if you get 3 layers of it. flyers resist spies but take 25% damage anyways from SR. levitate is a really nice way to keep that damage down.

Intimidate for me. Such a useful ability when making a defensive Pokemon. Or even with a frail one and some smart switching.

Um, yeah, wondergaurd. And there's a reason only Shedinja learns it. Can you imagine even a pokemon like Donphan switching in on Garchomp and being completely immune to all its attacks? >.>

And yeah, I read the first post, but it's pretty silly to make a thread like this with "besides this and this and that." Well, I guess it's pretty silly to make a thread like this in general.

Outside those though, guess Drizzle. Yeah, water is king.

Fire Fang, Stone Edge, and the Sand Storm that Garchomp's usually in, though the cause is most likely Hippowdon or Tyranitar.

. . . no, it would be immune to fire fang too. >.>

edit: Though I feel admittedly stupid for making these types of comments and posting in these types of threads.

I feel that the best abilities are Intimidate, Natural Cure, Wonder Guard, and Magic Guard. The latter 3 are good for staying alive, but Intimidate can have it's uses. It can make OHKO's into 2HKO's, which may sound unimportant, but it's nice to come into an attack, live it, and then either pose an immediate threat, or set up (only if you have some serious guts)

Huge and Pure Power are just seriously broken. I don't even want to comment on them, it's so ridiculous how they just make 2 abilities that double attack (Medicham and Azumarill pracitcally pose a threat to anything on your team)

i'm a fan of the absorbing abilities, particularly flash fire and volt absorb. free immunity to a type that would normally only be a 2x resist, plus immunity to common status moves (will-o-wisp and thunder wave) are really useful to turn "forced" switches into your advantage.

their effects, besides immunity, are also most useful (+1 atk/spatk on fire moves could make a previously impossible sweep possible, and 25% healing is always lovely); the reason i don't like motor drive's secondary effect is because of d/p's plethora of priority movers, choice scarfers, and of course speed boosters who can generally get +1 speed much more easily.

a more general reason that i like the absorption abilities is because they allow you to virtually wall choice attackers in perhaps a more compelling way than a simple immunity would give you. not only does the opponent have to worry about NOT doing any damage, but they also have to worry about helping you in the process.

For what we can use at the moment, then I would have to say Tyranitar's Sand Stream. Rock, Steel, and Ground-types - are immune to Sand Stream - have some amazing Pokemon that wield one or two of these 3 types, and can take full advantage of Sand Stream. With entry hazards such as Stealth Rock on the playing surface as well as Sand Stream, Pokemon like Salamence and Gyarados don't have enough time to Dragon Dance and sweep; and then there's Life Orb recoil damage to take into account, too. Perhaps I'm drifting off-topic here.

Of course, there are other superb abilities that work specifically well on the certain Pokemon: Kyogre's Drizzle, Shedninja's Wonder Guard, and Medicham's Pure Power for example.

As too, there are other abilities that are just generally fantastic and can be found on many Pokemon: Intimidate, Guts, and Natural Cure.

Drizzle/Drought

Infinite rain/sun is so imba Groudon and Kyogre would probably be banned even if they had normal stats

Trace is brilliant as it immediately helps "counter" certain things, although Magic Guard is godly for Clefable, as because of this ability it can take decimate teams.
