Swords Dance Incineroar is a great wallbreaker by virtue of its nearly unresisted STAB combination and great defensive typing, helping it find many opportunities to set up and also letting it check threats such as Jirachi and Polteageist. Access to Close Combat rounds out Incineroar's great coverage, allowing it to nail Pokemon such as Terrakion and Tyranitar that would otherwise switch into its STAB moves with ease. Additionally, its ability in Intimidate allows it to set up on physical attackers such as Doublade. Flame Charge is an option over Flare Blitz to be more threatening towards more offensive teams, punishing potential sacks and outspeeding would-be checks such as Keldeo and Terrakion, but the power loss is highly noticeable— specifically, it does less to Sylveon, Skarmory, and Galarian Weezing. A set with Flame Charge and a Weakness Policy is an option on dual screens teams; however, it doesn't find many turns to get going. Power Trip can be used over Knock Off on the aforementioned set to exploit the boosts that Incineroar can get with Weakness Policy, but it's overall less consistent and lacks the ability to immediately threaten Pokemon like Noivern.
Incineroar is vulnerable to being revenge killed by threats such as Terrakion, Keldeo, and Krookodile. Choice Scarf Rotom-C can revenge kill all three of these Pokemon while also bringing in Incineroar against Jirachi and Celebi. Other pivots such as Slowking, Keldeo, and Mienshao can bring in Incineroar safely to give it setup opportunities on Pokemon such as Celebi, opposing Slowking, and Hatterene. Galarian Weezing is an excellent partner for its ability to check Krookodile and Mienshao for Incineroar and set Toxic Spikes to take advantage of the switches that Incineroar forces, wearing down Keldeo, Rhyperior, and Terrakion. In exchange, Incineroar can check Jirachi, Celebi, and Reuniclus for Galarian Weezing. Noivern can check Keldeo and bring in Incineroar via U-turn on Pokemon such as Slowking, as well as wearing down their mutual checks such as Rhyperior and Tyranitar. Skarmory can provide Spikes support for Incineroar as well as check Terrakion and Lycanroc-D. Late-game cleaners such as Mimikyu and Choice Scarf Mienshao appreciate Incineroar being able to shred common cores for them to sweep more easily. Mimikyu also appreciates Rhyperior being weakened. Grimmsnarl can set dual screens for Incineroar to set up more easily. Toxtricity can break through Galarian Weezing for Incineroar, as well as threaten bulky Water-types such as Rotom-W and Tentacruel. Araquanid and Ribombee can set Sticky Web for Incineroar to let it outspeed checks like Krookodile, Keldeo, and Terrakion.

Thanks to its typing and ability in Intimidate, Incineroar is an excellent pivot, checking threats such as Jirachi, Necrozma, and Polteageist. Its STAB combination also allows it to threaten out common defensive Pokemon such as Slowking and Skarmory. Flare Blitz is an option over Overheat to hit Roserade, Copperajah, and Grimmsnarl harder; however, it loses out on the ability to OHKO Skarmory and does significantly less to Cobalion. In addition, the recoil damage hampers Incineroar's ability to pivot in and out over the course of a game. U-turn can be run instead of Parting Shot to chip foes more easily, as well as to fare better against Competitive Milotic, but it has less utility than Parting Shot overall. Toxic punishes Pokemon such as Rotom-W, Tyranitar, and Keldeo that would otherwise come in on Incineroar for free by putting them on a timer. Alternatively, Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers such as Krookodile and Terrakion on the switch that can attempt to switch into Knock Off. The given EV spread allows Incineroar to outspeed Skarmory and Mantine as well as take two Close Combats from Doublade. A Sassy nature with 0 Speed EVs is an option to have a slower Parting Shot and bring in teammates more easily—this also allows Incineroar to OHKO Cobalion with Overheat. However, Incineroar cannot outspeed Pokemon such as Galarian Weezing, Skarmory, and Mantine when running Sassy.
Keldeo and Terrakion are difficult for Incineroar to deal with, as they can freely switch into Knock Off and threaten it out. The latter can also exploit the resulting Justified boost. Slowking and Skarmory can deal with Keldeo and Terrakion, respectively. Slowking can also form a pivoting core with Incineroar and check Fighting-types such as Cobalion and Mienshao. In exchange, Incineroar can check Grass- and Ghost-types that force Slowking out such as Celebi and Chandelure. Doublade and Palossand can check Terrakion for Incineroar. Both also appreciate Incineroar wearing down Krookodile and Rotom-W. Choice Specs Keldeo appreciates Incineroar bringing in Tyranitar and Galarian Weezing to pivot out on them, giving Keldeo opportunities to break down opposing teams. Other wallbreakers such as Terrakion, Choice Specs Kyurem, and Lycanroc-D can also take advantage of Incineroar bringing them in via Parting Shot. Celebi appreciates Jirachi and other Steel-types being checked by Incineroar. Celebi can also check Rotom-W and Keldeo. Heliolisk can revenge kill Keldeo, lure Tyranitar if running Focus Blast, and bring in Incineroar against Pokemon such as Celebi. Mienshao is an excellent partner for its ability to force out Tyranitar while also threatening Terrakion and Cobalion if running a Choice Scarf. In exchange, Incineroar can bring in Mienshao via Parting Shot and wear down Galarian Weezing.
