Hello smogon.
Here is my attempt at a team that's all about type synergy while still being able to hit hard.
I love Latin words because they sound epic so I call this team "Cruel Punishment" which, if the translator did its job, translates into "Inhumanus Ultio ultionis".(Correct this if it's wrong)
Sounds awesome IMO.
Anyway, onto the team.
Scrafty @ Leftovers - Shed Skin
248 HP/160 Attack/100 Speed
Adamant
-Drain Punch
-Crunch
-Ice Punch
-Dragon Dance
Now, first thing you might be wondering is why I have Shed Skin. The answer is simple: I hate status.
This really lets me set up anything that a Moxie Scrafty normally wouldn't be able to, like Vaporeon for example. Haxing a Breloom's Spore or a Thundurus' T-wave is just icing on the cake.
EVs are made to out speed Latios at +2 while still being reasonably bulky and still having a bit of power.
With near-perfect coverage in his STABs, all he needed was a way around Gliscor. Say hello to Ice Punch >:3
Sure, it only 2HKOs at +2, but, what can Gliscor do to my Scrafty? Poison it? BWAHAHAHAHA
Bronzong @ Leftovers - Levitate
252 HP/64 Defense/192 Sp.Defense
Brave
-Gyro Ball
-Earthquake
-Trick Room
-Stealth Rock
Brave? Why Brave? Well, he still has pretty good bulk with that spread and I like having a little more oomph on his Gyro balls.
EVs are specialized to survive Specs Tornadus' Focus Blast after SR while still hitting hard with Gyro Ball.
Trick Room is epic. Normally I wouldn't have it on Zong, but in emergencies he can cause some real havoc with "super-fast" Gyro Balls and emergency sacrificial Trick Rooms, netting me wins sometimes against surprise LO Adamant Excadrills or something I accidentally let set up against me.
Stealth Rock shouldn't need to be explained.
Maybe I should run Impish....
Gastrodon @ Leftovers - Storm Drain
252Hp/62 Defense/124 Sp.Attack/72 Sp.Defense
Bold
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-Earth Power
-Recover
You want to wall water types not named Ludicolo? use Gastrodon.
This bulky mofo has specialized EVs made to survive two +2 LO Focus Blasts from Thundurus and be able to 2HKO back after Rocks with Ice Beam.
Scald is there to punish physical attackers(CB Scizor's U-turn deals like 49%) while Earth Power is there to hit water types a bit harder though I might change it.
This thing has been the MVP in a lot of my matches just because of his awesome Water + Electric immunities.
It gets better when his so-so Sp.Attack gets boosted to harder hitting levels without even needing to invest too much.
Scizor @ Leftovers - Technician(duh)
252 HP/252 Sp.Def/6 Attack
Careful
-Bug Bite
-Superpower
-Bullet Punch
-Swords Dance
Maybe this is the wrong set to run, but he hasn't disappointed me. Being able to set up on special attacks and still hitting hard is always a good thing.
By maxing out HP and Sp.Defense, he takes up to 48% maximum from Specs Latios' D.Meteor and proceeds to set up a Swords Dance and cause some damage.
Scizor has been here for a while, so I don't think I need to explain much.
Chandelure @ Leftovers - Flash Fire
48 HP/210 Speed/252 Sp.Attack
Modest
-Flamethrower
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Fighting
-Substitute
"Why not use Heatran?!"
Couple of reasons:
1.Heatran looks like an armored dog turd.
2.He's weak to Fighting, something I don't want on this team.
3.NOTHING lures Tyranitar in more than Chandelure, except maybe the legendary pixies.
4.It's Chandelure....it looks badass.
Go in, set up a Sub, curbstomp whatever switches in, and then switch back out.
Simple, yet effective.
I cannot count how many T-tars, Starmies, Landorus, etc. I've killed with this thing.
I love it. I love it even more when the Tyranitar sets up Stealth Rock expecting a switch and Chandelure ends up 2HKOing him, letting me keep my Substitute.
EVs are made to have as much power as possible, while still having decent speed, and having a little extra bulk.
Overall great and underrated/misused :(
Dragonite @ Leftovers - Multiscale
252 HP/48 Defense/48 Sp.Defense/160 Speed
Adamant
-Dragon Claw
-Fire PAUWNCH
-Roost
-Dragon Dance
IT'S DRAGONITE, BITCH!
What can I say? He's a bulky set-up sweeper and he pwns.
Wait, I CAN say something else...basically, he's my "back-up" sweeper if Scrafty falls or sometimes he's my safety net if my walls gets broken.
He's my last line of defense and although I usually don't sweep with him, when he DOES get a chance, boy does he sweep.
EVs are made to maximize bulk while still having some power and having just enough speed to out-troll Thundurus at +1.
Fire Punch over EQ since it lets me beat Ferrothorn and it gives Skarmory a bit more trouble than just lolDragon Claw.
Well, that's my team.
If you didn't notice, I always have more than one option against almost any attacker.
Normal? Chandelure, Scizor, Bronzong
Fighting? Chandelure, Dragonite
Flying? Bronzong...and uhh, fine, you got me there.
Poison? Chandelure, Scizor, Bronzong
Ground? Dragonite, Bronzong
Rock? Bronzong, Scrafty
Bug? Scizor, Chandelure, Dragonite
Ghost? Scrafty, Scizor
Steel? Chandelure, Bronzong, Scizor, Gastrodon
Fire? Gastrodon, Dragonite, and Chandelure
Water? Gastrodon, Dragonite
Grass? Chandelure, Dragonite, Scizor, Bronzong
Electric? Gastrodon and uhh...dammit
Psychic? Scrafty, Bronzong, Scizor
Ice? Chandelure, Scizor, Bronzong
Dragon? Scizor, Bronzong
Dark? Scizor, Scrafty
I got more than one option for nearly every type while still having some offensive pressure and being able to leave dents all over the opponents team.
THREATS:
These are the things that I've found give my team the most trouble and overall are the things I REALLY need to play around.
Yes, Skarmory.
Chandelure is the only thing that can truly stop it and once it's down, I gotta rely on Dragonite's Fire Punch.
I was once defeated because Skarmory kept walling my Scizor, who was my only option against an opposing Reuniclus. Chandelure eventually died because of Stealth Rock and I lost :(
I. HATE. THIS. THING.
The only thing can can touch it without fear is Gastrodon, but Gastrodon can only burn it and sit there. RestTalk variants can rip my team apart because of this.
There's not much I can really do except thank God it's not that common.
LEECH SEEDERS
Yes, leech seeders.
The only thing that can stop them is my Chandelure's substitute, everything else is just leeched to death D:
Honestly, that's about it. There are always things my team will have trouble with, but they can be dealt with. These three little devils give some big problems to my entire team so I only put them.
I hope you enjoyed my team.
Thanks, please leave any comments, suggestions, etc.
