So this is my first RMT for LC, since my other RMTs were for OU Monotype.
I didn't know what to really expect when I decided to try out LC as I had never played that game before. After a few games, I knew it was the right game type for me. The HO that typically occurs is just awesome to me. With that being said, I did have some difficulties at first adjusting to this different play style. I tried different teams, with moderate success, but nothing that could break into the Top 500 of the ladder. I finally found this team, and I peaked with it at 1426, but I want to get higher. With that in mind, I present you my LC team:
Diglett @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Spd / 236 Atk / 36 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Reversal
- Stealth Rock
This guy is always my lead. My team really likes to get rocks up, and get that damage. The best part about Diglett is that he traps the opponents against him. The sash is used to ensure that Rocks get set up. From there, Diglett is on a mission to hurt my opponent as much as possible. The EV spread is to ensure that Diglett outspeeds most things in the tier, and to maximize his attack. I am thinking about taking away the Special Defense EV because it really has no use to me. The only problems that Diglett faces are the rare Snover, and Fletching lead. Surprisingly, Acrobatics hurts really hard. Diglett is a great asset to this team.
Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
Level: 5
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Serious Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
Misdreavus is a lot of fun to use, but now that I have been ranking up the ladder, I find that she may not be as useful to the team as she once used to be. That being said, I found this set somewhere on the forums a while ago, and in the right situations, it is really useful. Since Misdreavus usually outspeeds my opponents, I usually put up a Sub to scout my opponents moves. If I am lucky, then I can get a Nasty Plot up before my Sub is gone. Shadow Ball is for STAB, and HP - Fighting is for those pesky Normal types and the Pawniards. EVs are there to maximize Speed, and Special Attack. Eviolite seems to be the item of choice in LC since most fast sweepers have low Defense and Special Defense. Good member of the team, but not the best.
Carvanha @ Eviolite
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 5
EVs: 76 Spd / 252 Atk / 180 SDef
Serious Nature
- Protect
- Crunch
- Aqua Jet
- Zen Headbutt
This guy could seriously be the MVP of the team at this point. Speed Boost is so underrated in this game it's not even funny. Protect ensures that I get at least one speed boost. From there, Carvanha is on a mission to scout, and kill. I love throwing people off when I send out Carvanha against Timburr, or Mienfoo. Its even better seeing their reaction when I use Zen Heabutt and it kills. Seriously priceless. The other moves are for STAB purposes, but I am thinking of swithcing Aqua Jet for Waterfall. My only problem with that is that then Fletchling will have the priority advantage, and that hurts pretty bad. Probably should switch the EVs to have more Defense and take away from speed since I get the Speed Boost.
Abra @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magic Guard
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Spd / 252 SAtk / 20 SDef
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
The question that I always get asked is why do I run Choice Scarf instead of a Focus Sash on my Abra. The answer: I was being outsped by other Pokemon so I decided to take the speed tie out of the equation. The moves are to maximize effectiveness. All of them are pretty obvious for Abra. Abra is my late game sweeper and comes in and does work in the late stages of the battle. Really a great member of the team.
Timburr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
Level: 5
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SDef / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- ThunderPunch
Timburr, possibly the best Fighting Pokemon in LC, in my opinion. He is much more bulkier than Mienfoo. The purpose of Timburr is to kill, and sweep. Drain Punch is to get HP back, Mach Punch is for priority. Also the STAB from those two don't hurt at all either. Knock Off is to hit the Ghosts, and Psychic, and to just take items off in general. ThunderPunch is there just because I could not figure out another move to put on him.
Pawniard @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 196 SDef / 76 Def
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
Finally Pawniard, one of best (if not the best) Pokemon in this game type right now. Being Immune to Psychic is such a plus. The moves on it are pretty standard for a Pawniard. Sucker Punch and Knock Off for STAB. Same goes for Iron Head. As with Timburr and ThunderPunch, I couldn't decide on a 4th move for Pawniard, so I put Swords Dance on him. I just had a battle where someone had Psycho Cut, so I may switch it to that.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I can't wait to hear suggestions on how to improve this team!
