*Insert Catchy Title for LC Team Here* [Peak: 1426]

So this is my first RMT for LC, since my other RMTs were for OU Monotype.

I didn't know what to really expect when I decided to try out LC as I had never played that game before. After a few games, I knew it was the right game type for me. The HO that typically occurs is just awesome to me. With that being said, I did have some difficulties at first adjusting to this different play style. I tried different teams, with moderate success, but nothing that could break into the Top 500 of the ladder. I finally found this team, and I peaked with it at 1426, but I want to get higher. With that in mind, I present you my LC team:

50.png

Diglett @ Focus Sash
Ability: Arena Trap
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Spd / 236 Atk / 36 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Reversal
- Stealth Rock

This guy is always my lead. My team really likes to get rocks up, and get that damage. The best part about Diglett is that he traps the opponents against him. The sash is used to ensure that Rocks get set up. From there, Diglett is on a mission to hurt my opponent as much as possible. The EV spread is to ensure that Diglett outspeeds most things in the tier, and to maximize his attack. I am thinking about taking away the Special Defense EV because it really has no use to me. The only problems that Diglett faces are the rare Snover, and Fletching lead. Surprisingly, Acrobatics hurts really hard. Diglett is a great asset to this team.

250px-200Misdreavus.png

Misdreavus @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
Level: 5
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Serious Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Misdreavus is a lot of fun to use, but now that I have been ranking up the ladder, I find that she may not be as useful to the team as she once used to be. That being said, I found this set somewhere on the forums a while ago, and in the right situations, it is really useful. Since Misdreavus usually outspeeds my opponents, I usually put up a Sub to scout my opponents moves. If I am lucky, then I can get a Nasty Plot up before my Sub is gone. Shadow Ball is for STAB, and HP - Fighting is for those pesky Normal types and the Pawniards. EVs are there to maximize Speed, and Special Attack. Eviolite seems to be the item of choice in LC since most fast sweepers have low Defense and Special Defense. Good member of the team, but not the best.

318Carvanha.png

Carvanha @ Eviolite
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 5
EVs: 76 Spd / 252 Atk / 180 SDef
Serious Nature
- Protect
- Crunch
- Aqua Jet
- Zen Headbutt

This guy could seriously be the MVP of the team at this point. Speed Boost is so underrated in this game it's not even funny. Protect ensures that I get at least one speed boost. From there, Carvanha is on a mission to scout, and kill. I love throwing people off when I send out Carvanha against Timburr, or Mienfoo. Its even better seeing their reaction when I use Zen Heabutt and it kills. Seriously priceless. The other moves are for STAB purposes, but I am thinking of swithcing Aqua Jet for Waterfall. My only problem with that is that then Fletchling will have the priority advantage, and that hurts pretty bad. Probably should switch the EVs to have more Defense and take away from speed since I get the Speed Boost.

250px-063Abra.png

Abra @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magic Guard
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Spd / 252 SAtk / 20 SDef
Modest Nature
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball

The question that I always get asked is why do I run Choice Scarf instead of a Focus Sash on my Abra. The answer: I was being outsped by other Pokemon so I decided to take the speed tie out of the equation. The moves are to maximize effectiveness. All of them are pretty obvious for Abra. Abra is my late game sweeper and comes in and does work in the late stages of the battle. Really a great member of the team.

250px-532Timburr.png

Timburr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
Level: 5
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SDef / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- ThunderPunch

Timburr, possibly the best Fighting Pokemon in LC, in my opinion. He is much more bulkier than Mienfoo. The purpose of Timburr is to kill, and sweep. Drain Punch is to get HP back, Mach Punch is for priority. Also the STAB from those two don't hurt at all either. Knock Off is to hit the Ghosts, and Psychic, and to just take items off in general. ThunderPunch is there just because I could not figure out another move to put on him.

250px-624Pawniard.png

Pawniard @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 196 SDef / 76 Def
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

Finally Pawniard, one of best (if not the best) Pokemon in this game type right now. Being Immune to Psychic is such a plus. The moves on it are pretty standard for a Pawniard. Sucker Punch and Knock Off for STAB. Same goes for Iron Head. As with Timburr and ThunderPunch, I couldn't decide on a 4th move for Pawniard, so I put Swords Dance on him. I just had a battle where someone had Psycho Cut, so I may switch it to that.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I can't wait to hear suggestions on how to improve this team!

Hey there, I suppose I'll drop in and give a rate.
  • Diglett - Lead Diglett is pretty interesting; it's nearly impossible to stop it from getting up rocks (barring priority Taunt from Cottonee, as well as some other obscure things like Magic Bounce, scarf multi hit moves, etc). However, this comes at the cost of hazards being laid down on your side of the field as well, since Diglett can't do anything to stop SturdyJuice hazard setters such as Tirtouga, Onix, and Dwebble before they get rocks up. So this is more just a playstyle suggestion, but try leading with a knock off user like Timburr or Pawniard if you see a SturdyJuicer in team preview. You'll be able to two shot them with Knock Off + Iron Head/Drain Punch. As for Diglett's moves, I'd switch out Reversal for Memento. Sash+Reversal is cool, but it's not hitting much, since opposing Pawniard can just Sucker Punch Diglett anyway, and Ferroseed would've already KO'd Diglett with Bullet Seed. Memento cripples the opponent, which gives you an excellent opportunity to set up with either Missy or Pawniard and start tearing through the opposition.
  • Misdreavus - The set looks fine; however tweak the EVs/Nature to 240 SpA / 240 Spe and Timid (why so serious lol)
  • Carvanha - Excellent late game mon, and luring Fightings with ZenButt is awesome. I'd definitely recommend Waterfall over Aqua Jet; the rest of your team literally hits 19/20 speed or has a priority move, so the power Waterfall brings will be worth it over priority. Change the item to Life Orb; Carvanha is way too frail to use Eviolite effectively, and Life Orb provides it with the power it needs to actually break through Fightings w/ Zen Headbutt. The EVs/Nature should be tweaked to 196 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SDef / 236 Spe and Adamant (again, why so serious lol). Also, add in 0 HP IVs. This lowers Carvanha's HP to 19, so it only loses 1 HP from Life Orb recoil.
  • Abra - I'm honestly gonna suggest Focus Sash > Scarf, if only for the fact that it's not destroyed by Pawniard in one hit. The Sashbra set I usually run is Psychic / Shadow Ball / HP Fighting / Protect (Protect saves you from Fake Out users, HP Fighting hits Pawn), with 240 SpA / 240 Spe and a Timid nature. If you run HP Fighting on Abra, you can switch Missy's HP Fighting to Dazzling Gleam.
  • Timburr - Change ThunderPunch to Poison Jab; it gives you a way to hit Cottonee and Spritzee on the switch, and ThunderPunch isn't hitting anything of note. Try an EV spread of 76 HP / 196 Atk / 76 Def / 156 SpD and Impish for better all-around bulk.
  • Pawniard - The set looks good; the EVs however can be changed to 236 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SDef / 196 Spe and Jolly; hitting 16 speed is way too good to pass up. Also, use Defiant > Inner Focus. This allows you to switch into Defog and get a free +2 Attack boost, not to mention random stat drops from attacks like Moonblast will also boost your attack.
Anyway, your team is a pretty standard, yet solid team that can easily keep offensive pressure on the opponent. Fletchling can potentially cause issues, but you have a good check in Pawniard (Overheat Fletchling is pretty rare these days), and an emergency check in Abra, so just remember to keep thinking a few turns ahead and you'll be able to deal with Fletchling just fine. If you had any more questions or just wanted to teamtest, you can usually find me in the Little Cup room on Showdown. Good luck!

Those changes that you recommended really changed this team around for me. I was in such a funk with it, that I decided to change some members up. But once I saw this post, I decided to give it a chance again. I have not lost since I implemented the changes.

I think my biggest win came against Queen Lucy, who was ranked #2 on the tier at the time (thanks to a lucky crit to her Snubball).

Thank you so much for the changes, and I will be posting some replays when I get the chance to show how the team is working.

*Edit*: Three replays:

I didn't play well at the beginning of this one, but was able to turn it around:

Really thought this was going to be a loss since I just ran into this guy earlier, and it was close until the end:

Unfortunately no. I was WAAAAYYY too caught up in the moment after seeing her ladder score and quit to see how high she was on the ladder (not gonna lie, had no idea who she was prior to facing her...whoops). :(

But without the crit she would have owned me.

After a quick second look, I think either Missy or Abra should slip Dazzling Gleam into their moveset to provide a Scraggy check. I think putting Dazzling Gleam instead of HP Fighting on Abra would do the trick, since it provides you with a surefire way of checking DD Scraggy, who could otherwise run over your team if it managed to set up. Plus, you have Timburr to deal with Pawniard already (and HP Fighting Missy sorta, but mind games lol).

I gave the team a few tries myself, and I have to say Zen Headbutt Carv is pretty much the most fun thing ever (except when it misses :<). OHKOing Croagunk, a normal counter, on the switch is sooo satisfying.

In my opinion, possibly the best mon on the LC tier right now. I mean the coverage is awesome. The only mon that it really has a problem with is Scraggy, and I have others that can take care of that.
