Introduction:

First off I'd like to say that i haven't built a team since Latias was moved to the Uber tier. I haven't been playing much so I didn't really know what the metagame was like when i started building this team. After laddering a bit though, I noticed how every single team had a Heatran on it. I made the team to be able to counter almost every Heatran set, while obviously still being able to counter other threats. Anyway, onto the actual team.

Team Building Process:

I wanted the team to be stallish, so entry hazards were a must. Bulky Roserade can easily set up on opponents like Blissey and Rotom-A. It might not look like a good poke, but it did work and i almost always got two layers of Toxic Spikes and a few layers of Spikes up.

Next i needed a poke that could take physical hits Roserade can't take and also covering the Fire and Ice weaknesses that come with the Grass type. Vaporeon was the obvious choice, because not only does it have the great Water-typing i needed, but it could also pass Wishes around my team.

Next up was the third Pokémon in this team's core. Heatran is an amazing teammate with Roserade and Vaporeon, because of its Steel-Fire typing. Also, Heatran is my Stealth Rock user. Overall just a good addition to my team.

Now that I had my core, I needed a Pokémon that could not only block Rapid Spin, but also deal some damage in the process. I chose Rotom-W because fuck you Tyranitar. Not much to say, really. Great typing blah blah blah.

Trickscarf lead Starmie. I've had so many victories thanks to this thing. It screws up the opponent's lead who sets up Stealth Rock first turn and I can just Rapid Spin them away next turn. Very powerful poke too.

And the last slot. I've had a lot of doubts about what to put here. I decided to go with Resttalk Gyara, because i needed a luke counter and another Heatran counter. This is my only Pokémon with a phazing move, Roar, so it definitely is a very valuable one on my team.

In-Depth:

121.png

Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Trick
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Hydro Pump

Ah, Trickscarf Starmie. How I love this set. It beats basically any lead in today's metagame. I decided to run Ice Beam > Thunderbolt because i have HP Electric on Vaporeon and a Rotom-A with Thunderbolt. Trick to screw up one of the opponents Pokémon and Rapid Spin to get rid of those aweful pointy rocks.
503.png

Rotom-w @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump
- Trick

Now this is the Pokémon that I wouldn't have too much trouble with to be swapped out of the team. It's just not working for me, even though this set has shown more success for me than the Choice Scarf set. Obviously the Water form is pretty useless, because of the fact that I have 3 Water-type pokes on my team. Choice Specs Rotom-A packs one hell of a punch though, so I might try a different Forme.

134.png

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/12 Spd/56 SpD
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Roar

The foundation of my team. Wish Vaporeon. Its typing lets it switch in on a lot of opposing Pokémon and pass a wish to a teammate. Pretty straightforward EV's and moveset. I run HP Electric because of Gyara.

410.png

Roserade (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/126 Def/130 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Rest
- Stun Spore
- Spikes

Bulky Roserade is awesome. Its great special defense stat lets it wall a lot of special attackers for days and sets up Spikes and Toxic Spikes. I'm still not sure whether to run Hidden Power Fire or Rest, but I've been using Hidden Power Fire with a lot of success.

490.png

Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/14 SAtk/244 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Will-o-Wisp
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power

Substitute Heatran is the worst kind to have against you. Stealth Rock because its needed and Fire Blast + Earth Power because they're great moves. The EV spread is something I created out of sheer randomness, but it surprisingly works very well. Having this much special bulk is awesome when fighting against, for example, Gengar. Gengar's Focus Blast does only about 60% to this set.

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Att/4 SpD/252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
- ThunderPunch
- Ice Punch

After Megan_Fox's and Snorlaxe's suggestions I've been using Scarfrachi on this spot. It helps me check Lucario and Tyranitar, which is something I couldnt really do before. It also adds a factor of speed into my team, considering my other Pokémon are rather slow. Iron Head and Fire Punch are given, ThunderPunch is for Gyarados and other Water-types and Ice-Punch is basically for any Ground or Dragon type.

Closing words:

Obviously this team is far from perfect, so any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading my RMT :D.

Nice Core ive also been testing out teams with the Fire + Grass + Water core. Something I suggest is for sure run rest over HP fire you have Gdos and Heatran for scizor and since your running toxic spikes to being able to recover is really going to help if you want all those hazards up. Also i don't see the point of substitute on that heatran maybe if you running some speed but ehh you'd be better of using protect or even will o wisp to either scout and toxic stall further or get some surprise burns on flygons and gyrados's. Cool core I hope I helped

Well first I love the core of this team mainly because Vappy+Roserade+Tran is my favorite G/W/F trio. But anyways, the rate...

First and foremost, the lead, Starmie should run Tbolt solely for beating other water Pokemon you face, because you can't touch them otherwise. Not to mention, if you keep the Scarf on, later in the game you can Revenge kill a +2 DD Gyarados with Tbolt. Even though Vappy covers any Gyarados, it's nice to not have to take any damage.

You will definitely need a spin blocker seeing as you have all 3 forms of entry hazards on this team. You should use the RestTalk Rotom-A here instead of your current set. It has immense bulk, can absorb status, and has the ability to stay around for awhile to keep down those all important entry hazards.

68 Speed evs on Vaporeon is really useless as you outrun nothing notable. So, switch the Evs to either Special Defense or Special Attack.

Switch Heatrans Ev set to 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Timid nature to outrun any Pokemon with a base speed of 76 or lower, cause a speed tie with other positive base 77's, and outrun that pesky little Breloom.

Now, to give your team a sweeper capable of using those Entry Hazards fully to his advantage, switch Gyarados to the Bulky DD Set. As this way you provide your team a very potent sweeper at any stage of the game, most notably, towards the end to take full advantage of entry hazards.

130.png

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability:Intimidate
Evs:156Hp/72Atk/96Def/184Spe
Nature:Adamant
~Dragon Dance
~Taunt
~Waterfall
~Bounce/Stone Edge

Bulky DD Dos is a good suggestion but his team benefits more from a phazer a lot to spread more infliction to the opponent.

It's all a matter of opinion, so yeah.

Well, that is true, he can opt for Roar>Taunt which would make better usage of the Entry Hazards. Plus with a DD up he won't be getting Phazed by the likes of anyone slower. So, definitely run Roar>Taunt if you really want to take further advantage of those Entry Hazards.

Yeah, that works. Kind of reminds of me a physical version of Shuffle Cune.

Gyara won't need rest because Vaporeon will be healing with wish, and dragon dance + roar will clean up late game.

Well first this is a really nice team so Ill do my best to patch things up.

The first thing I not is that you are quite weak to Specs Jolt. Rotom is the only think that can feel secure about switching in and Jolteon can always get smart and use Shadow Ball. Even though Starmie outspeeds with a scarf this is not a decent check since you state that you wilol often trick off your scarf on their lead. To fix this I am going to suggest a Swampert over Gyarados. Granted that this is not a perfect fix since some Jolt run HP Grass but it still gives you a better switch in to its STAB thunderbolts. Swampert can still to a similar job to Gyarados by phazing thinks around can it can last for a long time thanks to Vaporepon wish Passing. Also if you wish Swampert can even run Stealth Rock for you giving Heatran the option of Explosion or Taunt to better deal with Stall.

If you make the above change I can then see you having a little more trouble with Lucario. Therefore I think that a Scarf Rotom (H) over your Specs Rotom will patch that weakness up. Infernape is less or a problem since Starmie outspeeds and Rotom can also hit it with a Thunderbolt. With the 2 above changes your team can now check Jolt better while still retaining the ability to check Fighting types.

Have a Nice Day!

hey maxi,

id first like to point that any rock attacks will severaly damage you. A Scarf/CB or any tar infact can come into gyrados and easy OHKO it. the problem is, the rest of your team suffers from the same issues.

what i would do is, put roar > hp electric on vaporeon. vaporeon has potential to be a great phazer. with that being said, gyrados isnt needed so much and you are left with the need of countering luke and gyrados.

i would, in the void of gyrados, try using a scarfrachi instead. you can check both luke and gyrados with it. plus you already have additional checks so all in all you should have them covered. jirachi also means you have a switchin for tyranitar. another option could be using scarfrotom > specs and mixjirachi > scarf. also on heatran you could try wisp > sub to punish gyra, flygon, ttar etc switchins seeing as gyra and flygon arent hit by tspikes.

thats all i can think of atm ill drop another post if something else comes up

This is a pretty cool team, and it has a touch of originality, too, which is always cool to see. However, I have a few changes for you to test out. Firstly, your team is lacking a resistance to Rock-type moves. This is going to make switching in on Tyranitar really tough, as all of your Pokemon will take a hefty chunk of damage from his STAB attacks. Choice Band Tyranitar will especially hurt your team, as every member on your team will be OHKOed-2HKOed by his STAB Stone Edge. While Choice Band Tyranitar has seen a decrease in use, he's been on the rise lately, and so your weakness to him is rather worrying. I can also see your team potentially having a weakness to Swords Dance Lucario, as he OHKOes everyone on your team bar Gyarados with a set of Crunch | ExtremeSpeed | Close Combat after a boost. The best suggestion I have to fix this is to replace Rotom-W, who doesnt look like he does very much for your team, with a Choice Scarf Jirachi. Use a set of Iron Head | Thunderpunch | Ice Punch | Fire Punch, an EV spread of 4 HP | 252 Atk | 252 Spe, and a Jolly nature. This will give you a more solid answer to Swords Dance Lucario, as well as a Pokemon who can switch in safely on Tyranitar with a Rock resistance and Iron Head it for a 2HKO.

I also suggest a different EV spread for Vaporeon. While the current EVs are tried-and-true, they're a little outdated. Instead of your current spread, you would be better off running an EV spread of 188 HP | 252 Def | 12 Spe | 56 SpD. With 188 HP EVs, Vaporeon's HP reaches a Leftovers number, maximizing recovery. The 12 Speed EVs allow Vaporeon to outspeed all Choice Band Scizor who invest 8 EVs into Speed, Surfing or Wishing before they U-turn. 56 Special Defense EVs help Vaporeon take special hits slightly better, and allow her to pass and set up Wishes for her teammates against special attacks like Leftovers Starmie's Thunderbolt and such.

I really dont see the merit of running Toxic Spikes on Roserade for your team, as none of your team members really do much of anything to take advantage of the Toxic Spikes. As the writer of the current on-site Roserade analysis, I can say that Roserade using Spikes and Toxic Spikes on the same set should only be used on teams that have a very specific need for both entry hazards; your team does not. In place of Toxic Spikes, Roserade will be better off running a useful support move. I recommend Stun Spore; your team is not particularly fast to begin with, and Stun Spore is really great for paralyzing Heatran who switch-in on Roserade, as well as other Pokemon like Gengar. Your team isnt exactly fast (with the exception of Starmie and Jirachi/Rotom), and so paralysis support will be appreciated by your Pokemon greatly.

Good team, and good luck!

EDIT: it looks like Megan Fox and I had the same idea about Scarf Jirachi, so I highly recommend that you test it :)

I leave for 24 hours and this is what I come home to. I love it.
Now, I've edited my team according to the suggestions and I love it. WoW on Heatran, new EV spread on Vaporeon. I decided to get rid of Hidden Power Fire on Roserade, because i really need Rest. Also i tried out Stun Spore > Toxic Spikes, as Snorlaxe suggested, and it's working great. I got rid of Gyarados all together, giving Vaporeon Roar to still have the phazing effect. I replaced it with Scarfrachi, to check Tyranitar 'n stuff. I would like to thank everyone who helped me :).
