Introduction:
First off I'd like to say that i haven't built a team since Latias was moved to the Uber tier. I haven't been playing much so I didn't really know what the metagame was like when i started building this team. After laddering a bit though, I noticed how every single team had a Heatran on it. I made the team to be able to counter almost every Heatran set, while obviously still being able to counter other threats. Anyway, onto the actual team.
Team Building Process:
I wanted the team to be stallish, so entry hazards were a must. Bulky Roserade can easily set up on opponents like Blissey and Rotom-A. It might not look like a good poke, but it did work and i almost always got two layers of Toxic Spikes and a few layers of Spikes up.
Next i needed a poke that could take physical hits Roserade can't take and also covering the Fire and Ice weaknesses that come with the Grass type. Vaporeon was the obvious choice, because not only does it have the great Water-typing i needed, but it could also pass Wishes around my team.
Next up was the third Pokémon in this team's core. Heatran is an amazing teammate with Roserade and Vaporeon, because of its Steel-Fire typing. Also, Heatran is my Stealth Rock user. Overall just a good addition to my team.
Now that I had my core, I needed a Pokémon that could not only block Rapid Spin, but also deal some damage in the process. I chose Rotom-W because fuck you Tyranitar. Not much to say, really. Great typing blah blah blah.
Trickscarf lead Starmie. I've had so many victories thanks to this thing. It screws up the opponent's lead who sets up Stealth Rock first turn and I can just Rapid Spin them away next turn. Very powerful poke too.
And the last slot. I've had a lot of doubts about what to put here. I decided to go with Resttalk Gyara, because i needed a luke counter and another Heatran counter. This is my only Pokémon with a phazing move, Roar, so it definitely is a very valuable one on my team.

In-Depth:
Starmie @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Trick
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
- Hydro Pump
Ah, Trickscarf Starmie. How I love this set. It beats basically any lead in today's metagame. I decided to run Ice Beam > Thunderbolt because i have HP Electric on Vaporeon and a Rotom-A with Thunderbolt. Trick to screw up one of the opponents Pokémon and Rapid Spin to get rid of those aweful pointy rocks.
Rotom-w @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
Now this is the Pokémon that I wouldn't have too much trouble with to be swapped out of the team. It's just not working for me, even though this set has shown more success for me than the Choice Scarf set. Obviously the Water form is pretty useless, because of the fact that I have 3 Water-type pokes on my team. Choice Specs Rotom-A packs one hell of a punch though, so I might try a different Forme.
Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP/252 Def/12 Spd/56 SpD
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Surf
- Roar
The foundation of my team. Wish Vaporeon. Its typing lets it switch in on a lot of opposing Pokémon and pass a wish to a teammate. Pretty straightforward EV's and moveset. I run HP Electric because of Gyara.
Roserade (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/126 Def/130 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Rest
- Stun Spore
- Spikes
Bulky Roserade is awesome. Its great special defense stat lets it wall a lot of special attackers for days and sets up Spikes and Toxic Spikes. I'm still not sure whether to run Hidden Power Fire or Rest, but I've been using Hidden Power Fire with a lot of success.
Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP/14 SAtk/244 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Will-o-Wisp
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
Substitute Heatran is the worst kind to have against you. Stealth Rock because its needed and Fire Blast + Earth Power because they're great moves. The EV spread is something I created out of sheer randomness, but it surprisingly works very well. Having this much special bulk is awesome when fighting against, for example, Gengar. Gengar's Focus Blast does only about 60% to this set.
Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Att/4 SpD/252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SpA)
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
- ThunderPunch
- Ice Punch
After Megan_Fox's and Snorlaxe's suggestions I've been using Scarfrachi on this spot. It helps me check Lucario and Tyranitar, which is something I couldnt really do before. It also adds a factor of speed into my team, considering my other Pokémon are rather slow. Iron Head and Fire Punch are given, ThunderPunch is for Gyarados and other Water-types and Ice-Punch is basically for any Ground or Dragon type.
Closing words:
Obviously this team is far from perfect, so any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks for reading my RMT :D.
