[insert pwnsome name] My First RMT - (Would really love some help)

Hey there, this is my first post at Smogon, I've been going to Serebii for years but I've decide to have a look at the other side :O

Anyway I have just got my WiFi working awhile ago and now I have been attempting to make a fairly decent team for online competition. I would really appreciate some help on this attempt at a team. When making my team I decided I wanted two walls, two Special Sweepers and two Physical. With this in mind the team I am throwing around right now is:

Spr_4h_094.png
Spr_4h_248.png
Spr_4h_242.png
Spr_4h_229_m.png
Spr_4h_130_m.png

Now I'm not too sure if this is the most idiotic thing to do, or if It's quite common, but I was thinking of leading with a Forretress as a wall to set up Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock. If I were to switch out or stay in I am not too sure but I was curious to if this was a good idea.
Again I remind you I am a complete noob at online battling. Any help is appreciated.

The Lead
Is that what it's called? :S

Relaxed @ Leftovers
Sturdy

Rapid Spin
Toxic Spikes
Stealth Rock
Gyro Ball

EV | +252 HP + 80 Atk + 176 Def

My decision to start off with Forretress is to basically set up Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock. Realising that Speed isn't one of his advantages, I am basing on getting both TS and SR on without fainting through his high HP and Def. Gyro Ball provides a decent STAB move considering his low speed. I see a lot of Forretresses with Explode. I have decided not to go with it seeing as I try to use mine as a Rapid Spinner I can switch in and out. If Toxic Spikes can reach Toxic level, it can be devastating in any battle, especially for defensive Pokemon. (And birds go tweet.)

Offensive-Gar

Timid @ Leftovers
Levitate

Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast
Explosion

EV | + 252 Sp. Atk + 252 Spd + 4 Spd

Gengar has always been a favourite of mine. Even playing as a 6 year old without no idea about decent battling, (not much has changed) I have admired him. I've decided to go with an all out offensive moveset. Shadow Ball is a nice STAB move and gives a fair amount of coverage. With no other Electric influence in my team it was necessary to go with Thunderbolt which is a pretty reliable move with a strong punch. Thunderbolt can do a fair amount of damage to Gyaras and Suicunes. Focus Blast pairs nicely with Shadow Ball and is good at inflicting damage on Dark, Steel and Normal types. Explosion is basically there to send a final impact on whoever is facing Gengar. With his decent speed in most cases Explosion can pack a punch, especially on Blissey.

DD-Tar

150px-248Tyranitar.png

Adamant @ Leftovers

Earthquake
Dragon Dance
Crunch
Taunt

EV | + 252 Atk + 180 Spd + 76 HP

With a decent speed stat and a Dragon Dance, Tyranitar can be an unstoppable force that can outrun the majority of Pokemon in the Standard tier. Earthquake is always a favourite that provides a powerful impact with a wide type coverage. Through using Taunt, annoying Roars, Whirlwinds and Status Effects can be blocked, allowing Dragon Dance to do it's job a bit longer. Originally Stone Edge was chosen as the final move, but I later changed it to Crunch due to the fact that Gyarados already has the move and with a STAB Crunch, better type coverage is given.

AromaWall

150px-242Blissey.png

Bold @ Leftovers
Natural Cure

Seismic Toss
Softboiled
Aromatherapy
Thunder Wave

EV | + 252 HP + 252 Def + 4 Sp. Def

With Blissey's amazing HP and Decent Sp. Def stats its obvious that Blissey is a Special Wall. With this in mind though, I decided to raise Blissey's mediocre Def stat to reduce the impact that those Fighting types and other Physiclal moves have. By having Seismic Toss Blissey has a that slight bit of Attack in her which doesn't need to be worried about stat wise. Softboiled is an obvious, it can prove to be really annoying in a battle. Aromatherapy provides status heals for the Party which proves useful alot of the time. I originally chose to go with Sing for the last space, but given it's accuracy and the fact that there are now Sleep clauses, I decided to go with Thunder Wave which is much more reliable.

NastyDoom
170px-229Houndoom.png

Timid @ Life Orb
Flash Fire

Flamethrower
Dark Pulse
Nasty Plot
Will O Wisp

EV | + 252 Sp. Atk + 188 Spd + 68 HP

Without thinking of Heatran, I really had trouble thinking of a decent fire type that could assist in being a Special Sweeper. After alot of trials I decided Houndoom was the coice for me. It has decent Speed and Sp. Atk so why not? With Life Orb equipped, Houndoom can do some serious damage. Flamethrower has decent accuracy and provides a strong STAB, as does Dark Pulse. When Nasty Plot is in effect, Houndoom can get into serious action. Will O Wisp was the final choice to give an annoyance to those defensive pokemon.

BulkyGyara
170px-130Gyarados.png

Adamant @ Leftovers
Intimidate

Waterfall
Dragon Dance
Stone Edge
Taunt

EV | + 176 Atk + 144 Spd +152 Spd + 36 Def

Gyarados is always an awesome force to be reckoned with. Despite the fact that it's very common nowadays, it still holds a threat to a lot of teams. The Bulky Gyardos EV spread has proven to be pretty successful. With a Dragon Dance, Gyarados has a huge attack that compliments well with his moveset. Usually with DD with Bulky Gyara, it isn't used straight away to keep the threat in place. If it can be bluffed mistakes can be made from opposing teams. Stone Edge was mainly chosen to provide coverage against Zapdos and Salamence. Tyranitar originally was the Stone Edger but I've decided to go with Gyarados for now to see how he copes with the task. Again, with Taunt the mistakes made from the DD bluff can be exploited even more. Earthquake is a pretty general attack that can give some damage to those electric phgts that try to Vuck shiet up.

So there it is, my current team that probably doesn't stand a chance to 99% of you guys :D

I'm still a noob at this so I would love some help on this because I'd really like to get a bit stonger :P

Nice layout btw.

Anyway, I'm concerned that you have no steel type outside of your lead and that you have no revenge killer/priority move in your team. In a metagame that is rampant with Salamance, I think it's necessary. Once Gyarados or Salamance get a DD, your team will probably get slaughtered.

I recommend giving Gengar a Choice Scarf to act as a revenge Killer. Also, I recommend putting a Steel in Blissey's place. Maybe Registeel as it can act as a Special Wall because Aromatherapy doesn't seem necessary on your team due to the fact Tyranitar and Gyarados have Taunt.

Infernape basically outclasses houndoom. If you want a nasty plot sweeper, try this:

Infernape@Life Orb
Naive
4 Atk/252 SpA/252 Spe
~Nasty plot
~Fire Blast
~Close Combat
~Grass Knot

What makes this better is that it is not walled by Blissey. You could also run vacuum wave for priority. This thing slaughters with a nasty plot boost, and has overall better stats in speed and defense.

Forry is not the best lead, due to trick and taunt. Move forry over blissey and throw in a lead of choice. Run spikes, toxic spikes, rapid spin, and gyro ball/EQ/explosion. The lead can run stealth rock.

I suggest a lead like swampert who can set up SR and continue to serve your team, while forry spins away rocks.

Another option, you could go more offensive, and run starmie with rapid spin.

Hello

The suggestion of Infernape is a good one I and believe you will really benefit from it.

As my own suggestions go, I suggest a Rotom appliance instead of the Gengar you are using now. Simply because then you would have a decent revenge killer. You can also scarf Gengar but Rotom is superiour due to be bulkier. By looking at your team I notice that you only have Gyarados as a check/ counter to Lucario (Houndoom is OHKO'ed by a +2 Extreme Speed) so I suggest the Heater form. He can also serve as your Gyarados counter, as I see him to be problematic as well.

i_rotomu_heat.gif

Rotom-h @ choice scarf/ timid/ levitate
252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 SpAtk

- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Trick

--> I think the Bulky Scarf version of Rotom-h would be best here. With the extra bulk it can come in on many attacks while the loss of power doesn't really matter as Lucario and scizor are still OHKO'ed by Overheat, Gengar still dies from Shadow Ball and Gyarados has no hope in surviving a Thunderbolt. And of course you can use Trick against walls to screw them over.

Hope this helped!

I agree that MixApe eats Houndoom alive so I also suggest that switch.

As for Rotom-H you gotta remember that this is for wifi and while alot of people have Platinum/HG/SS many people don't This makes it useless in many ways. And assuming that he doesn't have a cheating device that also makes it obsolete.

You really don't need Tyranitar in there as you already have a good Bulky Dragon Dancer (Gyarados) on your team. I suggest replacing Tyranitar with Scizor but not he standard CB Scizor crap.

Scizor@Life Orb
Adamant
Technician
72HP | 252Atk | 4Def | 176SpD
Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Pursuit
Roost

This set allows you some primal bulk to actually take a Surf from Latias. It also provides you with a decent sweeper with the Life Orb Roost combination. Sure, it takes Superpower away but that's the least used move on Scizor anyway.

Hope I helped
