[SET]
Choice Scarf (Meowscarada) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flower Trick
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Triple Axel
[SET COMMENTS]
Choice Scarf Meowscarada serves as the fastest viable Scarfer in the format, allowing it to revenge kill Pokemon like Dragon Dance Dragonite, Scale Shot Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Flower Trick’s ability to always crit makes it useful against Iron Defense Zamazenta as well as Intimidate Landorus-T attempting to weaken it. Knock Off’s fast item removal can support its team by removing crucial items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from Pokemon like Kyurem, Hatterene, and Moltres. U-turn allows Meowscarada to pivot out of bad matchups like against Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Moltres, and Triple Axel covers Flying- and Dragon-type Pokémon like Zapdos, Dragonite, and Raging Bolt that aren’t threatened by Meowscarada’s main attacking options. Protean changing Meowscarada’s typing to the move it uses allows it to squeeze out extra power from Triple Axel and U-turn. Notably, Protean allows Triple Axel to secure KOs on threats like Mega Latios and Raging Bolt after slight chip.
Balance and Bulky Offense teams appreciate its ability to threaten common methods of speed control. Choice Scarf Meowscarada fits best on teams that appreciate its unmatched level of speed control, as it can handle faster Pokémon for its teammates, such as Tornadus-T and opposing Choice Scarf Pokémon like Landous-T and Urshifu-RS. Because of Meowscarada’s ability to force switches and Knock Off Heavy-Duty Boots, entry hazards are greatly appreciated; Pokémon that can set them up include Ting-Lu, Mega Diancie, and Gliscor. Because it tends to pivot with U-turn, Pokémon that remove entry hazards are also appreciated, such as Terapagos, Great Tusk, and Gliscor. In return, Meowscarada can use its speed to revenge kill for its slower teammates. Meowscarada is unable to break defensive Pokémon like Ferrothorn, Moltres, and Corviknight. Thus, Pokémon like Raging Bolt, Zamazenta, and Urshifu-RS can provide that wallbreaking. In return, Meowscarada can remove or threaten faster Pokémon such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele and boosted Dragonite, giving its teammates more opportunities to wallbreak. Because Meowscarada is commonly forced out by Fire- and Flying-type Pokemon such as Moltres, Mega Charizard Y, and Corviknight, teammates that can switch into them are appreciated. Pokémon like Raging Bolt, Alomomola, and Gholdengo either pack good natural bulk and resistances to either typing. In return, Meowscarada can switch into the Ground- and Grass-type attacks that commonly target its teammates, such as those from Garchomp, Gliscor, and Ogerpon-W, then using its speed to force them out.
