Mechanics Instruct should boost Round

What type of bug are you reporting? Mechanics

What is the bug?
Instruct+Round, currently when using instruct on a Pokemon that had used round earlier in the turn the instructed round would not be boosted, after testing on cartridge the second round does appear to be boosted despite not being a part of the initial round chain.

Are you able to replicate it? If so, how?

Basically just Oranguru+Round mon thats is faster than oranguru, Use Round and Instruct the round mon, initial trials were done in Natdex Doubles

link to me doing it in game.

This needs more research.
  • Is Round boosted if it was already used earlier in the turn?
  • Is Round boosted because it has higher priority (e.g., due to Instruct)?
For example, can you test the following case:
  1. Pokémon A uses Round.
  2. Pokémon B uses Encore on Pokémon C.
  3. Pokémon C uses Round due to Encore, even though it originally selected a different move.
Does Round get boosted in this scenario?
If yes, then I would assume Round is boosted as long as it has already been used during the same turn.

I can confirm that Round does get boosted when used with either Instruct or Encore, suggesting that Round is boosted if it was used prior in the turn, regardless of if it receives the priority boost or not.

0 SpA Refrigerate Aurorus Round (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Carnivine: 204-240 (70.5 - 83%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Refrigerate Aurorus Round (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Carnivine: 404-476 (139.7 - 164.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Thank you.
Can you find out if Round goes up in the priority bracket if called by other move? If another Round was already used

No, Round does not move up in the priority bracket if called by Encore.
Sorry, could you test one last thing? If the first Round misses (due to accuracy or immunity), does the second Round gain priority and a damage boost?

I already have a PR ready!

I was reviewing my PRs and remembered the Echoed Voice bug. Does Round still get boosted if the previous Round had no target? The setup would be something like: all opposing Pokémon self-faint, your first Round user attacks the empty opposing field and your second Round user targets its partner.

Yes, Round still gets boosted even if there is no target.
