I was playing about with a Bug/Steel Wormadam (the pink sprite), and decided to breed it with a Mothim. I bred 5 Burmy.

The interesting thing is that all the 5 Burmy were FEMALE, and of the pink sprite, which means that they would evolve into a Bug/Steel Wormadam.

I haven't tested what happens if the Wormadam is of the Bug/Ground (the yellow sprite) variety, and if it is of the Bug/Grass (the green sprite), but I'd assume that the same thing would happen.

Interestingly, Mothim has no breeding moves, which seems to support this theory.

So are you saying if you breed *the steel type*, it will only breed to produce *steel type* Burmy? And also the same with the gender?

Yeah, I think that if you breed a Wormadam, the Burmy will always be female and of the same sprite as Wormadam. Needs more test cases, I know, but 5 out of 5 is statistically significant.

all the 5 Burmy were FEMALE

I'm by no means going to say Wormadamn is a good Pokémon, or even close to so, but this could be useful for getting female ones, which are rarer and could possibly be good trade fodder with the GTS and less competitive people.

I've gotten 4 female burmies in a row from my female burmy. Standard type as well.

Could this mean something? It seems that burmy's typing doesn't have an effect on this.

Interesting. That could mean that you can only get male Burmy by breeding Mothim with Ditto.
