Gen 3 Intimidation (UU)

I've been lurking around for awhile. Here is my second UU team. Involves lots of swapping and taking advantage of Intimidate.

Granbull with Choice Band
Adamant/Intimidate
64 HP, 252 Att, 160 Def, 32 Speed
Shadow Ball
Body Slam
Earthquake
Brick Break

Normal Choice Bander. Granbull is slow, so paralysis from Body Slam comes in handy.

Hitmontop with Leftovers
Impish/Intimidate
32 HP, 252 Att, 160 Def, 64 Sp Def
Brick Break
Counter
Bulk Up
Rock Slide

Physical Defender.

Blastoise with Leftovers
Calm/Torrent
252 HP, 64 Def, 32 Sp Att, 160 Sp Def
Surf
Ice Beam
Mirror Coat
Roar

Special Defender. Mirror Coat is usually unexpected.

Arbok with Lietchi
Adamant/Intimidate
32 HP, 252 Att, 64 Def, 160 Speed
Sludge Bomb
Glare
Rock Slide
Earthquake

Gets the job done with Intimidate and Glare. Stab Sludge Bomb is cool.

Misdreavus with Leftovers
Modest/Levitate
252 Sp Att, 52 Sp Def, 200 Speed
Calm Mind
Substitute
Psychic
Thunder Bolt

Special Sweeper with 3 immunities! :D

Meganium with Leftovers
Bold/Overgrowth
252 HP, 64 Def, 32 Sp Att, 160 Sp Def
Reflect
Light Screen
Leech Seed
HP Grass

Supports with walls. Anti-Quagsire and Golem too.

A few suggestions ...

*As your team relies on "lots of swapping" spikes would really hamper your strategy, so you might want to give either Hitmontop or Blastoise Rapid Spin.

* Status attacks could prove a real problem, as you having nothing to absorb them or heal them. Will-O-Wisp effectively neutralise the threat of Arbok, Hitmontop and Granbull, and Toxic would really hamper your defenders.

*I'm not sure having three intimidators justifies not having a dedicated normal/flying resist.

* Mirror Coat on Blastoise is unexpected, but also requires good prediction, if Manectric/Electabuzz/Lanturn sub up rather than immediately attack then the surprise is ruined.

* HP (Dark) may be more beneficial than Psychic on Misdreavus, should you find yourself in a Calm Mind war with one of UU psychic tanks.

* At the moement your Meganium is completely walled by Grass types, and is just asking for a SunnyBeamer to come in and set up on it.

I don't thikn Arbok is working out for you. What you could do is make Blastoise a Defensive monster, as Hitmontop is seriously a horrible one IMO. Then that way, you can slap in Hypno and definitely take care of all your Special Defensive troubles. Not to mention Wish will keep Granbull and Misdreavus repeatedly sweeping.

So you think I should take out Arbok and Meganium? I'm thinking of replacing Meganium with Vileplume after watching Ninetales and Bannette own my physical hitters.
As for having no Rapid Spin, well, I haven't came across any spiker in UU. I haven't seen Qwilfish and Omastar using Spikes and Cacturne dies easily. Anyway just in case, I think I'll put Spin on Top over Counter.

Granbull with Choice Band
Adamant/Intimidate
64 HP, 252 Att, 160 Def, 32 Speed
Shadow Ball
Body Slam
Earthquake
Brick Break

No change

Hitmontop with Leftovers
Impish/Intimidate
32 HP, 252 Att, 160 Def, 64 Sp Def
Brick Break
Rapid Spin
Bulk Up
Rock Slide

I've placed Rapid Spin over Counter

Blastoise with Leftovers
Bold/Torrent
252 HP, 160 Def, 32 Sp Att, 64 Sp Def
Surf
Ice Beam
Counter
Roar

I made Blastoise more suited towards Defense. Mirror Coat replaced with Counter. Edit: Calm ---> Bold
Hypno with Leftovers
Calm/Insomnia
252 HP, 52 Def, 200 Sp Def
Seismic Toss
Wish
Thunder Wave
Reflect

Ok, I've replaced Arbok with Hypno. Seems to do decently well.

Misdreavus with Leftovers
Modest/Levitate
252 Sp Att, 52 Sp Def, 200 Speed
Calm Mind
Substitute
Psychic
Thunder Bolt

No change

Vileplume with Leftovers
Modest/Chlorophyll
252 HP, 64 Def, 32 Sp Att, 160 Sp Def
Aromatherapy
Sunny Day
HP Fire
Solar Beam

I've replaced Megan with Vileplume to help solve my status problems. Especially Burn and Toxic.

Whoa whoa whoa dude. Vileplume will not work out like that. If you truly want to help the team out. Sleep Powder will cripple a poke, which always help. Aromatherapy is a keeper due to healing Pokes. Next you should have an attack, just to do damage to low health Pokes and break some subs. Last move you can use Synthesis to reheal yourself instantly, or Leech Seed to heal partially, help teammates maybe, and force a switch.

I'm gonna try testing Giraffe over Misdreavus so that I could deal some major damage to enemy Hypno and Slowking.

If you really wanted to deal major damage to Hypno and Slowking, then I'd use Banette.

Shadow Ball/HP (Fighting)/Imprison/Thunder Wave, pretty much nerfs Hypno, or you could go with the more standard set and Knock Off their leftovers.

Here's my revamped Vileplume moveset:

Vileplume with Leftovers
Calm/Chlorophyll
252 HP, 64 Def, 32 Sp Att, 160 Sp Def
Aromatherapy
Sleep Powder
HP Grass
Synthesis

It became more defensive

Get a reliable Flying resist to take on Fearow, or at least use Rest/Sleep Talk Blastoise. You don't need it for sleep absorption purposes per se because of Hypno, but it just becomes a lot more sturdy.

Yeah, take advice from people who play a lot of UU.

Normal/Flying Resist, usually in the form of Aggron, Golem, Solrock or Omastar. Ground/Fighting resist won't hurt on Predicted HP Grounds/Fightings from the likes of Fearow. You'll struggle switching in on opposing Fearow most of all, but also Kanga and other Granbull too as they can hit with stronger Fighting and Ground attacks also.

Special Wall should be used, Hypno or Grumpig do it best, you can get away with Lanturn providing you have a good Grass resist too. Wish is great on UU teams to keep things going, especially with all the switching you're doing, and Spikes Omastar IS common at the moment, trust me.

I'd strongly suggest using some of the Pokémon suggested, or at least find something that can do the job well enough if you don't like using the Overused Underused Pokémon =/ lol.

In theory Misdreavus could be a -decent- Fearow counter as it's immune to 3 moves..however that last one will KO it............lalala

I did have problems with Fearow. I only could rely on Blastoise to take Fearow out. So what about Lunastone as Flying/Normal resist? It can replace Misdreavus. If I include the aforementioned rocks I'll be lacking a reliable special attacker.

It's not as good as a counter cause it's defenses are subpar compared to those as Solrock, who would work, but you won't get your special attacking..

Ok, after some testing around with Lunastone I find that it could take some hits from Fearow with Hypno's Reflect support. It still doesn't take HP Fighting too well should Fearow choose it over Ground. And it dies to the occasional Steel Wing. I'm not too sure about the EV spread.

Lunastone with Salac
Timid/Levitate
32 HP, 160 Def, 252 Sp Att, 64 Speed
Calm Mind
Ice Beam
Substitute
Psychic

Unfortunately it can't put a dent to Slowking like Misd could :(

No dude. With Calm Mind, hitting hard is the last of it's concern. MAX HP MAX HP K. After that, consider Hypnosis on it, preferably over Psychic. After a few CM's waters won't do shit anyways. Also no Salac, just leftovers. You can't expect to switch into Fearow ever again if you die cause you wanted to sweep instead.

Yea, an adopted ev spread I use was on smogondex...Pretty much max HP and lots of Def, little in speed to outrun certain things (227 ~ 230). Modest nature for a good 248 sp atk with 0 evs.

fyi lunatone makes an excellent calm mind BPer if you decide to go that route although your team has no immediately apparent receivers

Poor Lunatone dies easily to 2-3 Returns from Fearow even with max HP and Def. I think I'd stick with MisD as Special Sweeper and remove something for a defensive rock, like Golem or Solrock. Problem is, I'm not sure what to take out now.
