Hidden Power is a move that is used on many special sweepers and walls to help gain type coverage or counter a certain pokemon. While Hidden Power only has 70 bp it is essential to some pokemon who do not posses good move sets. On battle simulators (shoddy) the correct hidden power type and bp is easily obtained with a click of the mouse. In-game however it is not as easy to get the hidden power you are looking for.
Right now hidden power's type and bp relate to a pokemon's IVs. If someone wants to actually use hidden power in-game (wifi, battle tower, tournaments) then they have to spend a good amount of time breeding for the correct IVs to get the hidden power they want. If they should decide to change the hidden power type on their pokemon (ex. Changing from ice to grass on a Jolteon) then they have to breed an entirely new pokemon.
If Game Freak changed all hidden power bp to 70 and gave an option whenever the TM was used, it might help to promote more competitive play among people who do not like simulators, and do not like the tedious work of breeding for IVs.
Obviously this change will not happen this generation, so the suggestion would have to pertain to future games.
So after all that my question to you is: Do you think that hidden power type should be chosen by the player in-game (by my example or any others people can come up with) or should it stay the way it is now?
