It's a B-E-A-Utiful day!

The title comes from the beautiful weather that is out when the sun is shining. I present to you, a doubles team intended for Nintendo's Video Game Showdown, or anyone who plays by their rules.

@Heat Rock
Calm, 252 Sp. Def, 252 HP, 4 Spd
Swift Swim
-Fake out
-Sunny Day
-Solarbeam
-Hidden Power [Fire]

dpfba392.png
@Chesto Berry
Naive, 252 Sp.Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Atk
Blaze
-Heat Wave
-Taunt
-U-Turn
-Protect

This is the leading pair.Ludicolo sets up Sunny Day and messes with the opponent's leads, particularly if they are rain dance pokemon. Infernape can use Protect to scout out things and protect itself, and U-Turn to do damage and bring in my other pokemon. Taunt stops set up leads like Dusknoir and Bronzong.

@Lum berry
Hasty, 252 Sp.Atk, 252 Spd, 4 Atk
Flash Fire
-Heat Wave
-Dragon Pulse
-Earth Power
-Protect

Heatran is the main sweeper of the team. It uses Heat Wave to hit both enemies with a sun-boosted STAB fire attack. Dragon Pulse and Earth Power are for pokemon that could give me trouble. Bulky Waters are dealt with by my final pokemon.

@Leftovers
Calm, 252 HP, 252 Sp. Def, 4 Def
Flower Gift
-Protect
-Helping Hand
-Solarbeam
-Sunny Day

Cherrim's Helping Hand boosts Heatran to an elite power level. Solarbeam helps deal with Water types. Protect and Sunny day are for obvious reasons.

So yeah, this is the team that I thought of in 5 minutes. Let me know what'll work and what won't, and what'll give me trouble; I'm new to doubles. Thank you for the help.

Well, I must say I am a fellow Doubles battler... and the team has some potential but I think Heatran and Infernape should switch places. Heatran benefits alot more from Cherrims Def boosts while Infernape with or with out them stands no chance to any attack.

I Know Heatran can explote but Infernape can U-Turn in case its job its done. Im wondering...why are you exactly using Toxicroak? I think ambipom could bo a better job since it has acces to almost the same moves with STAB and Technician to boost its Fake out... anyways Good Luck with it.

Toxicroak is used to stop Rain Dance teams as well as fake out and taunt utilities. I had Heatran as a lead because Serebii said that Flower Gift boosted Atk and Sp.Atk, not Sp.Def, but I know Smogon should be trusted over Serebii.

So, if I switch Heatran and Infernape, should I give Infernape a more leadlike set, something like Heat Wave/U-turn/Protect/Sunny Day and then give Heatran Heat Wave/Earth Power/Dragon Pulse/Protect. If I do this, I am more vulnerable to an EQ user though, if Heatran cannot outspeed.

Another idea I had was to give Infernape Taunt, which would allow me to use Ludicolo over Toxicroak, something like Fake Out/Sunny Day/Solarbeam/Hidden Power [Fire] I guess.

wouldn't careful work better on a toxicroak with physical attacks?
Also, I'm sorry to say to you, that I doubt the stability of mr. croak based on the EV's given. Honestly, he has a focus sash and fakeout, why not max attack and HP/speed with an adamant or jolly nature?

cherubi is so insanely awesome it's not even funny.

Thanks, Careful is now there. Although, I think I will change Toxicroak to Ludicolo.

Yeah, edited the team...

I'm afraid I don't have any experience in the Doubles metagame to give you any useful suggestions, but I can go ahead and tell you that Ludicolo does not have Dry Skin as an ability. Maybe you could use Shiftry, which also learns Fake Out, and has added access to Explosion?

Forgot to change that since I edited it from Toxicroak, sorry. One thing Ludicolo helps with is stopping Water types from Rain Dance teams. I'm not sure if Shiftry would work because it would die to pokes that it couldn't OHKO. I could try Shiftry @Sash, Fake Out, Explosion, Solarbeam, and Sunny Day i guess, but there isn't a good place to test. I couldn't test on WiFi yet because I want to get the team ready before I breed. I guess I could SAV copies to test with though, idn.

cherrim's ability raises its Atk and SpDef under sunny weather. you might want to add a physical fast fire type atacker. Infernape could do that as well as blazisken

Should Infernape not be the one using Fake Out, flinching an opponent and giving Ludicolo a free turn to set up Sun? The way you have it right now, Ludicolo is Faking Out while Infernape Protects, which sort of takes away from the whole point of using Fake Out to give your partner a free turn. Also, you definitely want a Fighting move on Infernape - not only are you walled by Blissey and Snorlax right now, but Heatran 4x resists or is immune to everything on all but one of your sweepers (which happens to be Heatran as well, and so you risk a Speed tie). Try using Close Combat over U-turn, as it won't really be giving you too much of an advantage anyway, and the extra coverage should be more helpful. Explosion over Protect on Heatran could be worth looking into, while running a Life Orb, to be able to inflict some big damage as a last gasp sort of move while your Cherrim Protects.
