it's clobberin' time (NU)

pangoro.gif

Pangoro @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 104 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Hammer Arm
- Crunch
- Poison Jab
- Parting Shot

Pangoro is a pretty damn fun new toy that offensive teams got to play with, and the first Pokemon I knew I wanted to use on an offensive team. Not only can it break down nigh any wall with its great power and superb STAB combo, but its signature move, Parting Shot, really helps get my sweepers in safely, especially since it's slow. The EVs outspeed minimal investment base 70s, such as Mantine, which I feel has been a good benchmark to hit, because it can then outspeed defensive Pokemon and smack them really hard, but underspeed most offensive Pokemon and thus lower their attacking stats for my sweepers to take advantage of. Poison Jab is there because I don't really know what else to put here... his STABs are walled by Granbull and I'm fine with hitting it hard, especially since I'll be outspeeding it. I've only used it like twice though. But yeah Pangoro has lived up to all my expectations as a superb offensive pivot :V

doublade.gif

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Shadow Claw
- Shadow Sneak

First thing I thought of while teambuilding was: "what sweeper can come in on Pangoro's Flying-, Fighting- and Fairy-type weaknesses?" The answer was pretty obvious lol. Doublade is about as influential in NU as its evolution is in OU. The sheer bulk it has on the physical side is pretty close to that of Mega Aggron's, which gives you something to think about. This bulk and typing lets Doublade set up with impunity on tons of Pokemon, and quite easily sweep through teams considering how many things it beats one on one. The EVs look odd, but I've been very pleased with them. They outspeed minimal investment Granbull and anything slower, including Dusknoir, Spiritomb, Rhydon, Dragalge, Gurdurr, opposing Doublade etc, which has made a difference in a surprising number of games. Iron Head is there because Gyro Ball would only really be for Zangoose iirc, and it's allowed me to flinch hax my way through a lot of opponents when coupled with Uxie's Thunder Wave. Shadow Claw is for a strong STAB on the things that Iron Head can't hit, like incoming Fire-types, Lanturn, etc. Shadow Sneak is the main sweeping tool if Doublade gets in a couple of boosts, which isn't that hard. Basically the combo of Doublade and Ditto check a massive portion of the meta, which is really useful to have on an offensive team.

uxie.gif

Uxie @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 60 Def / 24 SAtk / 176 Spd
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Stealth Rock
- Heal Bell
- Thunder Wave

The support/utility Pokemon that every offensive team needs. I decided against a Dual Screens set because 1) fuck Defog and 2) my setup sweepers are bulky anyway, I have Pangoro's Parting Shot, and my team actually prefers the support from Heal Bell and Thunder Wave a lot more. Uxie is a pretty simple Pokemon: it's damn hard to KO, can set SR up multiple times if needed, provides a good switch in to powerful attacks if I need to, pivots into my sweepers and supports the sluggish ones with Thunder Wave, and the whole team with Heal Bell. It's really my only insurance against nasty weather sweepers like Ludicolo and Stoutland, as it can take any hit from them and cripple them with Thunder Wave. Obviously I play far more conservatively with Uxie if I see one of these in Team Preview. Speed EVs are to get the Psychic off on Jolly Sawk, which is always nice. Psychic is chosen over U-Turn because it helps deal with Weezing and Gurdurr a lot better, and happily strips a third off most offensive Pokemon, which is always nice.

barbaracle.gif

Barbaracle @ Wide Lens
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 216 Atk / 40 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Shell Smash
- Razor Shell
- Rock Slide
- Aerial Ace

THE BIG BOSS RIGHT HERE! My sweeper of choice, and what a monster it is. Barbaracle is an incredibly deadly Shell Smasher late game, because not only does it have Tough Claws boosting its primary STAB, it has the bulk to quite easily set up (especially after a Parting Shot) but the SPEED (it outspeeds Scarf Pyroar which is absolutely huge). The EVs insure that this... thing can set up on Durant that lack Superpower, as LO Thunder Fang can't OHKO after Stealth Rock. +2 Razor Shell then OHKOs. Aerial Ace is for Virizion and Poliwrath which wall my STAB combo, and it's a nice option against other Grass-types where Rock Slide just isn't strong enough, such as Ludicolo. Wide Lens is because I really don't want my primary win condition to have an untimely miss once it's set up, and it's worked fine in practise until now.

tauros.gif

Tauros (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 240 Atk / 16 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Rock Climb
- Fire Blast
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake

This has always just been a very cool mon. I wanted something that hit hard and fast, and wasn't worn down too easily. It also had to check Durant, which is a neccessity on every team. It's generally brought out midgame to bash heads in, and can go on sweeps endgame if the opponent doesn't have something faster (not uncommon). A fairly simple Pokemon really. 16 SpA gets the 2HKO on Doublade, as well as stuff like Tangela, Steelix, etc. Zen Headbutt is for Gurdurr and Poliwrath, while Rock Climb is just a really strong STAB that can KO most neutrally bulky Pokemon that don't resist it, like Sigilyph.

ditto.gif

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
- Transform

OK so this is the first time I've ever used Ditto and I have to say, I'm impressed. Sure it thrives in a tier thats stuffed with setup sweepers (especially shell smashers), but it's really brought a whole new aspect of battling to my eyes, including set scouting, giving me resists that my team lacks, and more. As I said before, this paired with Doublade checks a LOT of the meta. Out of control weather sweepers are best handled by Ditto, and if my opponent has a Shuckle or something I can also use stuff like Sticky Web against him, so Ditto pretty much gives me tons of flexibility while I play, which is something I really enjoy. It has the IVs for HP Grass which is neccessary to revenge kill Shell Smashers.

Closing Words

So yeah this is an offensive team. I won't say Hyper Offense because it does play a bit differently from that, but it's not exactly bulky offense either.... ah well call it what you will, it's certainly fun to play with! It's at like 16-1 on the ladder now iirc under the alt Geh Unter, nothing too impressive, but that's about the number of games I play with a team before I get bored of it, so have at ya. Oh yeah, some threats... Ludicolo is very annoying if it sets up Rain. Thankfully i don't give it many opportunities to do that iself, but if it's in a Rain team I'm in trouble, especially because of my lack of resists (Raseri ban Damp Rock y/n). Weezing is a bother, as is stacking up on physical walls in general, but there are a few changes one can make to circumvent that, like Mold Breaker and Earthquake on Pangoro, or using SubSmash Barbaracle, exchanging a team member for another SR mon and making Uxie SubCM... however any change I make opens up other holes in the team, which is a real bother. Which is why I brought it to RMT :D thanks for reading, and ium is cute.

Hey Cherub, this is definitely a really awesome offensive team, which utilizes unconventional sets to its advantage such as MixRos to deal with specific threats. One thing I definitely worry about for your team is any sweeper which employs substitute. The reason for this is the fact that your only method for Uxie to prevent setup is Thunder Wave, which will be completely nullified, while your revenge killer is simply unable to fight when the opponent has a sub up, as it prevents transform from working. Because of this, pokemon like SubDD Gatr, SubCM Mesprit, and SubKlingklang all become very annoying to battle, especially if your only pokemon to tank a hit happens to go down, which in most cases will have to be doublade. The entirety of your team is also physical, which worries me greatly as it results in pokemon like Bulk Up Gurdurr potentially sweeping your team, as Ditto is unable to revenge kill it, while your other pokemon do not deal nearly enough damage to hinder its sweep. Oh and weezing is a bitch, since again it just straight up can wall you. Cool team though.

The first thing I would do is to replace Pangoro with Offensive Spiritomb. What it lacks in the raw power that Pangoro packed, it gains back in sheer utility, potentially TrickBanding, Spreading burns, Pursuit trapping, and more importantly for your team revenging substitute sweepers via Infiltrator. It is also a lot bulkier, and provides powerful priority necessary for teams like yours to succeed, making it a far better fit on your team to help you wear down and cripple bulkier pokemon while stopping a multitude of sweepers in their tracks.

The next thing I would do is to replace Doublade with Pivot Magneton. Magneton can help to put a dent in a lot of pokemon, as well as completely trap and wall Klinklang, Doublade, etc. while putting in OHKO's or 2HKO's into them guaranteed. More impotantly, it also beats down Weezing completely and acts as a reliable specially offensive attacker with a powerful 120 base SAtk so that your team's other pokemon such as Tauros or Barbarcle can pull off a clean easy sweep. It also still offers similar key resistances to Flying, Fairy, etc. but allows you to shut down opponents much easier than you would have. HP Fire if you want Magnet Pull, HP Grass if Analytic.

Minor Changes:
Uxie: As I said, you are very gurdurr weak. For these reasons alone, I recommend running Psychic > U-Turn, Thunder Wave or Heal Bell with Impish, since you guarantee a 2HKO every time, while you always live +2 Knock Off with your current EV Spread. By running this, you also insure that if Uxie is left as your last pokemon which may happen, you will be able to reliably win a match without having to forfeit or PP Stall.
Ditto: 2 Atk / 30 SpA / 3 Spe IV Spread, as it gives you HP Grass, the most reliable option for revenging water type shell smashers such as Gorebyss and Omastar which may pack it.

Cool team really hope this helped!

Spiritomb @ Dread Plate / Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 248 HP / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Shadow Sneak
- Will-O-Wisp / Trick

82.gif

Magneton @ Eviolite
Ability: Magnet Pull / Analytic
EVs: 100 Spd / 252 SAtk / 156 HP
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Grass]

Just a note, but I don't find Poison Jab very useful on Barbaracle at all. Aerial Ace still slaughters Virizion, but gives you the benefit of hitting Grass-/Poison-types like Vileplume as well as Poliwrath. Something that can deal with physically defensive Seismitoad could also benefit your team, considering your setup sweepers have trouble beating it.

psychic on uxie and hidden power grass on ditto are necessities tbh. also i told you before that pangoro seemed to be the most expendable but now i kind of like it since on a physically-based team it does massive damage to doublade and checks some other ghost-types which would normally be annoying. that's why when i thought of spiritomb earlier, i was a bit hesitant to recommend it unless you use foul play > shadow sneak or a special set like resttalk or otherwise it'll miss out on a 2HKO on doublade while being 2HKO'd at +2 in return. but if you want to use spiritomb, i think fitting it with rest / sleep talk / dark pulse / calm mind would be fun to mess with all the physical walls or just bulky pokemon in general that you may have trouble getting past. that can help with some of your problems

connor ist wie ein baby panda nur süßer :D ily

Sorry, Ditto obviously has hp grass, i just omitted it from the importable because ugly :/

Aerial Ace will be used over Poison Jab on Barbaracle, I forgot about Poliwrath!

OK I guess I'll use Psychic on Uxie and give up one of my support moves :( I'll probably remove U-Turn then, because as much as it pains me Heal Bell and TWave have just been too useful in the long run. This moveset change now deals with Gurdurr and Weezing, so thanks for that suggestion :)

OK so with Psychic on Uxie I'm a bit less weak to Substitute mons. I'll use 24 SAtk EVs on Uxie to break 252 HP Gatr subs (I doubt they go that bulky). Sub Klingklang is walled by Doublade, and SubCM mesprit is beaten by Pangoro and Doublade, and can be finished off by Tauros if neccessary.

Physically defensive Seismitoad is a dick, thankfully panda is EVed to be able to outspeed the Relaxed ones, and it doesn't like taking a Hammer Arm at all, which brings it down to the point where Tauros can easily finish it off. Not the most pleasant Pokemon to face, but I've been able to deal with it.

Spiritomb and Magneton are interesting suggestions, but I dont think I want to go with them, they change the concept of the team too much. Pangoro is already an awesome tool vs Doublade, and I just can't express how useful Parting Shot is. Magneton also can't trap Doublade coz it's a Ghost-type :P One thing I do like is the very strong Sucker Punch if banded, as that helps a lot with Ludicolo, so I'll definetly try it out. Magneton isn't really what I'm looking for though, as Uxie can now smack Weezing. Ditto can also burn it and then recover its own burn with Heal Bell, and Tauros can finish it off with Zen Headbutt, so there's that. I can allow Weezing to burn my Pokemon if I can weaken it enough, as there's Heal Bell

thanks a lot for the suggestions guys
