Hey Smogoners. Recently, I made a new team which is a Rain Dance team. Oh, but this is also my FIRST rain dance team as I never got a chance to despite me reading all about Rain Dance teams... Note: Two of my support pokemon which are Azelf, Scizor have Damp Rock, Rotom-W has Leftovers, and my sweepers have Life Orb. But isn't that what every Rain Dance team have, or something simaliar? Anyway I have been very successful with this team and on average it has won me 8 out of 10 battles. This team has got very good synergy, and all of them are neutral to rock-type moves, but I can usually use my three sweepers STAB moves to take them out. I didn't plan to has wonderful synergy, I planned it to just have okayish synergy as I would've expected something like a BIG grass weakness or a BIG weakness to Electric. As it turns out, my sweepers are all neutral too them (except for one of my sweepers which is weak to electric)! This is good, if not great so I can swap around more easily than being swept by something like... Jolteon or Shaymin (first pokes that popped into mind that are Grass and that are Electric).
Anyway, let's take a look at it.

Azelf @ Damp Rock
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Explosion
- Rain Dance
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt

Azelf, my lead. For this team it's done wonders. I try to play it safe, taking good care of Azelf so I can keep it for later on in the game, as it can still Rain Dance and can explode on something which will futher aid my three sweepers aswell as setting up Stealth Rock and also Taunt to stop the opponent setting up, blah blah blah. If I feel like it, I can just use Rain Dance and Stealth Rock (maybe with Taunt somewhere in between) then just BOOM! and from there it's possible to start sweeping. Whichever way I play, I can work from it and gain momentum to do ultimate ownage and make my opponent gobsmacked.
Maxing out HP EVs will let me take hit on both sides of the spectrum and will make it that little more bulkier and I can survive attacks easier which will let me play it say even more.
Maxing out Speed EVs so I can outrun other leads and other pokes later in the game (if it has survived, that is) so I can set up first. The rest of the EVs were dumped into attack to boost Explosion. Jolly lets me outspeed even more pokes like... I dunno... something like Infernape?

212.png

Scizor (M) @ Damp Rock
Trait: Technician
EVs: 200 HP / 56 Atk / 252 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Rain Dance
- Roost
- U-turn

The number one pokemon finds a way onto my team but not as a Choice Bander, not a Swords Dancer, but as my secondary Rain Dancer! Bullet Punch + Technician + STAB = Doom. It helps against opposing team if the carry a Tyranitar or Abomasnow as they'll mess with my team alot. Scizor is great at Rain Dancing in my opinion as it has amazing bulk, but in the rain... it has no weaknesses! Roost is there so it'll live much longer and U-Turn is so it can scout, pick off weakened pokemon, or swap to a pokemon that either counters it or can take the hit aimed at Scizor.
200 HP EVs let it take hits very well and adds to it's natural bulk as does having 252 Special Defence EVs to take special hit even easier. No need for Defence EVs as it's defence is already good enough. I mean, 70/100/80, you can see which two can be boosted and the one doesn't really need to be invested in. The rest were dumped into Attack to give U-Turn and Bullet Punch that little more oomph along with a Adamant nature.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Rain Dance
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder

Rotom-W, my last support pokemon. It does it's job very well, just like every other member in my team, but this Rotom-W can even act as a fourth sweeper. It has two 120 base power moves, one further boosted by Rain Dance and one that never misses by Rain Dance that can also get STAB. Shadow Ball also gets STAB but won't hit as hard as the last two attacking options, nevertheless, it's still useful for stuff like if the Rain is not up. Rain Dance is there, just like on my last two pokemon so it can aid my three sweepers. Leftovers allow it to replenish lost health.
Maxing out Speed to outrun stuff thats slower, like Slowbro or Slowking! Maxing out Special Attack after to give Hydro Pump, Thunder and Shadow Ball more power aswell as even more added power by using the Modest nature. The spare 4 EVs can be dumped in HP, Defence or Special Defence but I just put it in Defence for no reason really.

230.png

Kingdra (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 16 Spd / 240 SAtk
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Draco Meteor
- Hydro Pump
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall

Again, Rain Dance is on a pokemon. But this time on my shweeper. I chose the mixed Kingdra set as it just kicked ass. The almighty Draco Meteor gets STAB boost and the amazing Hydro Pump also gets STAB boost AND Rain Dance boost. I didn't really need another type coverage move as Dragon and Water already have stunning coverage so I could go physical by adding Waterfall in the last slot. Waterfall gets same STAB and Rain Dance boost like Hydro Pump so I don't really need to say anymore.
Maxing out Attack EVs too boost Waterfall even further and the boost it EVEN FUURTHER I used a Naughty nature so I wouldn't weaken my special attacks. 240 Special Attack EVs boost Hydro Pump and Draco Meteor even further, just like Waterfall but they won't get the EVEN FUURTHER. The rest of the EVs are put into Speed and then it'll get doubled reaching 420 Speed if I remember correctly.

272.png

Ludicolo (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 60 HP / 196 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Surf

Ludicolo! Yeah! My special sweeper. I know what your thinking, ANOTHER RAIN DANCER?! YOU CRAZY? Well I think your wondering that. Well the reason being I just had nothing else to put there! And another Rain Dancer just adds to the chance I can get up Rain Dance! Surf and Energy Ball get STAB and Surf gets the additional boost from Rain. Ice Beam is there for type coverage and picks off Dragons, Grasses and Grounds.
252 Special Attack EVs for as much power as possible. Further enhanced by Modest so Ludicolo is like a MONSTER with it's perfect neutral coverage if I remember correctly. 176 Speed EVs allow it to reach 225 speed, reaching 450 in the rain. The rest of the EVs were placed into HP to have more bulk.

211.png

Qwilfish (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Explosion
- Poison Jab
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall

This team wouldn't function as well if Qwilfish wasn't here. Not just because of his amazing power that allowed me to shweep many other teams, but the fact that I can absorb Toxic Spikes, which is very benificial. Waterfall is his STAB move that is boosted up by Rain, and Poison Jab is his other STAB move but isn't boosted by Rain. Swords Dance lets him set up on something that's switching out meaning ultimate ownage. Explosion is when Qwilfish is about to be KO'd, owned by it's own Life Orb, or just can't kill the opponent.
Maxing out attack to give as much power as possible so it'll just own the other team. Maxing out speed to outrun pokemon in the rain... Adamant nature with maxed out attack give Explosion, Waterfall and Poison Jab amazing power and then... well, SHWEEP! The rest of the EVs were dumped into HP as it'll help Qwilfish survive something, or more that definitely not. But there was nothing else I could put it in other that Defence and Special Defence, so I put it in HP to help both sides, or not.

So thats my team. Hate, rate steal. But mainly RATE!

Hi, nice team. I really can't think of major changes at the moment, but I do have a small suggestion. Seeing as you have four other rain dancers, how about giving Kingdra Dragon dance? This will maintain your mixed sweeping prowess and give a more definite stat boost that will allow for a sweep and allow you to work out of rain (bye T-tar). I hope that helps.

Thanks for the rate, gaburu. To be honest, I never thought of a Dragon Dance Kingdra, and I don't know why... because this should help LOADS. I'm planning on testing this soon, and I'll try Kingdra's Dragon Dance and Three Attacks set. Thanks for the rate!

Now,You Can Replace Scizor With Bronzong With DAMP Rock To Set Up Rain And Screens..Celebi Actually Detroys This Team,You Can Use Signal Beam > Hydro Pump To Damage Celebi :)

Good Luck!

I would advise a SubDance Kingdra and a bronzong like Infernape to Screen which gives you the ability to get a sub kingdra setup

I'll try SubDance sometime maybe, but I'd be wasting rain turns. I'd much rather have a mixed Three Moves set.
I can Ice Beam Celebi too death, U-Turn it, and Poison Jab it and Shadow Ball it or, if it's still alive, explode on it. Stealth Rock will damage it each time it runs off. I pretty much got it covered.
