this works by antipedant. the purpose of antipedant is that the idea is legal but the wording is wrong. This is exactly what is going on. Any argument against this is pedantic and bad.

Yo yo YO! Wassup People of ASB to a friendly battle between to battlers: Jayy and Fort!. Luvdisc has flipped and Jayy will be sending out Cindersmasher wearing a Life Orb around his neck. Fort retaliates by sending out Blueberry the Wormadam, She may look like a blueberry bush, but she's surprisingly a Sandy Cloak Worma.

First things first, Cindersmasher summons a Substitute dummy and hides behind it. BB shakes the arena, simulating an Earthquake, you'd think an Earthquake would hit both dummy and the Pokemon hiding behind the it, but nope.
The Cindersmasher strikes the Wormadam's Item, making it less defensive and less physically offensive and flees back and hides behind his Substitute. Blueberry uses her attractive charms to infatuate the Conkeldurr, making her harder to hit.
The Cindersmasher was falling in love, but snapped out of the spell for a brief moment and gives Blueberry a cold punch to the face. Blueberry was sad her blueberry charm didn't work and sends out some sneaky rock on Jayy's side of the field

With an knocked off item, Fort and Bb are in an uncomfortable position against a Conkeldurr hiding behind a Dummy. With Jayy ordering first, will Fort find a way to keep Blueberry safe and healthy?
