Jobs you have had that SUCKED.

I am only 20 years old yet I have had over 15 jobs in my life, and I have had my share of jobs that I hated. I will list them in chronological order:

November 2005-February 2006: After football season of my senior year I worked at a breakfast restaraunt, and it really sucked ass. First of all I had to get there at 5:30am each morning on weekends, and 2nd of all they hired me as a waiter but I never got to wait tables the 3 months I was there. They just made me do their bitchwork really, such as bussing tables and running food. I only made $5.50 and one February morning I basically said fuck it and purposely dropped a few plates of food I was supposed to run and walked out. The next day I got hired for what would be my best job of my life so far, but thats another thread someone can create. This thread is about jobs that suck.

September 2007: Having just got fired from a GOOD valet job unfairly, I decided to sign on with another valet company. But this company was no good and a big scam. It's the DFW area's largest valet company, however they rip off their employees. You could only make so much money per hour in tips and you had to give the rest back to the company after your shift. Therefore you were unable to make more than 7.50 an hour(2.13 in a check, and could only make up to 5.37 per hour in tips before giving the rest back). 7.50 an hour for valet parking where you are constantly running in the heat? No thanks. I quit. Total joke.

October 2007-November 2007: Right after that Valet Job I got a job as a waiter at a popular and HUGE Mexican restraunt in the DFW area called La Hacienda Ranch. It is huge and tough to be a waiter there but I rose to the challenge. However, some asshole who worked there did nothing but sexually harrass me every time I had to work with him, and that eventually got to my head and affected my performance. I tried telling my managers but they didn't believe me. Eventually I got fed up with the managers not doing shit about it(they actually called me a liar) so I cussed them all out and quit going out with a bang.

Anyway, those are some bad jobs I have had.

Some time 2007 - present day: I stand outside at night time on the road and wave a traffic wand around to direct people in traffic. Once it rained during winter and I nearly got frostbite :/

The thing that makes it really unbearable is the coworkers. They are some of the fucking laziest people I have ever met. Never show up on time, often don't show up at all...they don't get fired because they can't find anyone else to do this job. I certainly won't be returning next year without a nice raise.

January - June 2006 - Security guard, downtown Buffalo, 12am-8am shift

Yeah. Beat that. 5 days a week I would "wake up" at 5-6pm, leave for work at 11:15pm, get home at 8:50am, go to "sleep" around 10am. The work itself wasn't that bad, it was the terrible mismanagement that kept making people quit and force me to work shittons of overtime of an already terribly exhausting job. The worst thing is I had to be outside for hours at a time in downtown Buffalo in the heart of winter at the coldest time of the day. Ugh. I hate thinking about it.

But the money from that lasted me that whole summer after I quit, plus my trip to NYC/JAA. It played its purpose.

Yeah, im 21, but i have had a few jobs in my time:
Age: 12
I was the local paperboy, got paid something ridiculous like 10 bucks for delivering papers at 5am to houses on the bad side of town (SE suburbs of Melbourne, Australia)
Age 15 (2001)
>> Worked at a Fish and Chip shop for about 3 weeks, got paid something like 6 bucks an hour, which was ridiculous, given the nature of the work. Would come home smelling like chips, and my dogs would lick my shoes. Terrible terrible job, quite after a month
>> Started a job at McDonalds, which paid slightly better. They got me working on the cash registers because i had good people skills, which was alright. But since it was in a shopping centre, it was incredibly busy (something like the 3rd busiest in the state!) and i quit after about 6 months
March 2003-January 2005
Worked at a La Porchetta restaurant, which is an Italian franchise here in Australia that is a family restaurant. I was bartending illegaly when i was 17 or so, which was quite good for me. Learnt how to make many awesome cocktails!
Was also a senior staff member, and would train the new staff members. Pay here was cash in hand as well, but since people don't tip in australia it was never much. the free meals and staff parties (with an open and free bar) were awesome fun. Met some awesome ladies through this job, including a girl who i went out with for just over a year.
Got fired for 'threatening the company', which was untrue. Settled with them out of court.

January 2005- June 2005
Bartended in Frankston, which is a suburb of Melbourne on the Coast about 30 minutes from where i lived. Alright here, but i left because the travel was too long.

June 2005-July 2006
Worked at the supermarket on a sunday ($27 bucks an hour, $32 after 8pm) making all the specials. ALthough i liked the money, the hours were terrible.

2006
Tutored 7 students for final year Chemistry and Biology. 1 hour a week each, charged them $30. easy money, tax free as well.

November 2005- Present
Village cinemas. Great here, pay isnt as good as at the supermarket (im on about $19), but the free movies make up for it.
People here are great, current girlfriend works here as well which is another added bonus.
Unfortunately since i started studying medicine i have had to cut back work to one shift a fortnight (enough for free tickets!). Lucky i am on a scholarship, otherwise i wouldn't be able to pay rent!

2008
I volunteer on wednesdays with a group of adults who have an intellectual disability. Its awesome fun, and the guys are good fun as well!

Worst Job
Beginning of 12th grade. Burger King. Had to clean broiler and shit which I was bad at and the staff were sexist. I quit after 3 weeks as I didn't need the money that bad.

Best Job
Working at QJ.net blogging on mostly Wii and DS news. Was laid off when they hit some financial issues though =(

Worst-Not so long ago

Telemarketing (well not exactly more like "costumer service"), at a cable company. It was a nightmare, annoying customers, very angry costumers... and of course those that yell at you because they think it's your fault some technician didn't do his work. It was stressing, there was a day where i got consecutive calls for about 3 hours.

All of them, pretty much.
Worst one was the first one - restaurant work in which I was routinely sexually harassed by the older customers [it was a restaurant inside a hotel.. a pretty shitty hotel at that] not to mention some of the nastier kitchen staff. The mandatory skirt didn't help with this.. I was fourteen-fifteen and really didn't know what to do. When I complained, they threatened to fire me.

I actually was a telemarketer back in the summer of 2001. I graduated from college when the tech bubble burst and had to eat. It was the only place in the college town that would hire me--and even then I had to omit my degrees on my application. I was hoping to save up enough money to move to a metropolitan area, where job prospects were a lot better. Got fired for under-performing and ended up having to borrow money to move.

all my jobs sucked so far..

KBToys - This was an okay place Im gonna admitt but the pay as you probably would figure out was horrible and after a year with a "raise" I said screw this shit and left.

Dr's. "assistant" - this was just some school job I did because I had to. The guy was awesome but there weren't enough hours in this so I boogied.

UPS - great job with benefits and ability to move up, from what I could tell for the week I was there, but waking up so early and moving around heavy boxes on a conveyor belt wasn't a my thing.

Target - great place imo but was too slow and I was laid off.

looking for another job that I might actually stay for a couple of years at least instead exiting out looking for another. If I wasnt a home still though I would have been screwed atm becuase Im trying to go to school and stuff still.

Baseball umpire for 9-12 year olds. I think as a result, I developed a life-long hatred of children.

Also I've done phone tech support for the last 4+ years.

Jan 2005- September 2007
Frontier Restaurant: http://www.frontierrestaurant.com/
It sucked, but my co-workers were all in the same age range; we all became really good friends (yay, parties), add in a location right across from campus (when I lived in the dorms), and fairly decent pay for a restaurant. They made it worth it; I left when I was a head cook. It just got old.

Oct 2007-Present(kinda)
I began working overnight shifts (9pm-9am) with developmentally disabled adults. The work wasn't hard; but the hours were horrid.
I switched off to days; got to work with 4 guys (read: huge) who had behaviorial issues. :( It sucked! During my time there I got to experience: pulling one of my clients choking the other off, sexual harassment, being kicked at/hit at/spit at, watching holes miraculously appear in walls via feet/fists, locking myself in the office while calling the cops. Yeah, it sucked.
Then I got a promotion in the company; I am now the "office manager" and I get to interview the poor souls who are coming to take my place. I also get to be the directors bitch girl, but that's okay, as I like all of them. :)
IE, sucky went to okay.

I umpired with my friends in 10th and 11th grade and we had a blast. Only problem was that it got really hot(this was Texas) in May/June, so being behind the plate was miserable.

But we found it hilarious how the parents of these kids, especially the coaches, would get so into the game. It was only 9-12 year olds, so who cares really? But we would ALWAYS "pick" on the coach's sons. If they ever got out and threw their helmet/bat or threw a small tantrum, we would eject for bad sportsmanship. Then their parents would get mad and we would eject them too. Fun times.

June 2006 - August 2006
I work at a Sub place, Daebelos Submarines. I had two manager one was pretty cool, but the other was a total ass. He always complained no matter what i did. They put he to work on evenings and late afternoon shifts, basically doing cleaning and everything else because i always got it done fast and right. But i had no experience in the food making expect for the first day of the job. So one afternoon (two months after i started) manager(the asshole) decided i should work lunch. I got so overwhelmed that i accidentally messed up an order. He gives me shit and gets on my case the rest of the day. i basically threw the uniform in is face and i said shit and stormed out.

luckily i was wearing a undershirt that day.

I was stupid enough to stay on that job, I probably should of quited sooner. Now i work at a gases station my friend dad owns, its pretty laid back.

I've only had one job and I have had it for 2 years now. I caddy, I am 17 and the tax free money is just about as good as it gets. 60 avg a bag, I carry 2 bags, one loop(18 holes) later and I've got 120$ tax free for about 4 hours of work, and if im up to it i'll go for a second.

But besides the pay being awesome, I come and go when I want, legally I dont work there nor do any of the caddies, so we just show up and the caddy master picks who goes on what loops. Sometimes I dont get out, but those times are far and few between. So a job that has awesome tax free money where I can choose whenever I want, well its hard to beat.

Worst Job: Definitely working at McDonalds had to be the worst job for me. The workers were lazy and always had a problem with something or someone, but the customers were even worse. Always complaining and and asking for their money back. I didn't even work there for a month. I quit after my 3rd week because I just couldn't take it anymore. After that I vowed never to work in fast food again.

Best Job: Has to be my present job right now. I work in a Nursing Home as a Nursing Assistant. It's always feels good to me to help others who can't help themselves. Plus the residents are so energetic and funny. They usually don't give me any problems.

I've only had three jobs and all of them have had there extreme bad sides and "some" good sides.

Wal Mart (2/07-3/07) This job was certainly more bad than good but I couldn't find anywhere else to work at the time so I decided to work the midnight shift (10pm-7am), and that shit was terrible. I made maybe 6.50 and hour after all taxes were taken out.

The Race Track (10/06-11/06) There is a race track where I live and I was a busperson here. Really, the money was kick ass but the hours were long and extremely hard. When i look back on it now though, I shouldn't have been such a pussy.

John's Family Restaurant (5/03-9/06, 3/07-Present) Honestly this job has been my best ever up until recently. The money has always been good (not as good as the track), but it was/is extremely laid back. Lately though my boss has been a terrible manager and she is basically hating me for no reason. Right now I make in the range of 500 a week so I'm not going to quit solely for that reason. Hopefully, I should be teaching in 3 years anyway, so I only have to last that long.

jan. 2008- present
working at The Home Depot. this place is a fucking shithole, not only is the store in such disarray that nobody knows where the fuck anything is but the management is about as bright as a polished turd. most of my coworkers are pretty cool and around my age so we all get along well but the people who run the store are fucking idiots who do not understand what keeps a business alive (CUSTOFUCKINGMERS!). they treat almost every customer like shit on the bottom of their shoes which in turn means the customers treat us the same or worse and they don't actually manage anything all that well. i get payed pretty well for being a paint "expert" at 35$/hr but when they only let you work 30 hours a week due to "excessive overtime" ie: we are losing so much money because we refuse to properly take care of our store that we have to cut back on the only people who make the store money, drowning ourselves in an ever increasing current of fail. its okay though, the cashiers are pretty hot and working there has actually been landing me a lot of dates with one of them. my tenure there actually has me contemplating my ability of persuasion though.... i am pretty sure i could convince some of the people who come into the store that paint is edible and actually better for your body than a multi vitamin just because my apron has a "Department Head" badge on it.
