In anticipation of soulsilver I have decidedto build a team of all johto pokemon, or pokemon obtainable in the original silver version. For the most part I really like my team but there are two spots that I am not certain about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Typhlosion/Blastoise/Jolteon/Scizor/Heracross/Dragonite
Typhlosion @ choice scarf
blaze
modest
252 sp atk/252 speed/6hp Ev's
-Eruption
-extrasensory
-focus blast
-fire blast
Through testing my team I have experienced better luck with an anti-lead rather than a standard lead. The anti-lead that I have had the most success with is typhlosion. The scarfed typhlosion is faster than most of the leads and is fast enough to shoot off a full powered eruption. With my prior team sporting a forretress lead I had had alot of trouble beating any lead that exploited trick. Typhlosion is completely un-phazed by most trick users and can 2hko many of the common leads. Late game in battles he also poses a huge threat to any steel type.
Blastoise @leftovers
Torrent
Bold
252 hp/252 defense/6 sp attack EV's
-surf
-toxic
-protect
-rapid spin
When testing this team I realized very early that I desperately needed a rapid spinner, but carrying both heracross and scizor I wanted to avoid adding another fire type weakness with forretress. So i decided to try blastoise, and I am very pleased with how he has worked so far. The basic premise is severly weaken of KO the opponents trap setter, use blastoise for a rapid spin and then toxic anything it can before he gets KO'd. He generally gets off a toxic or two and a surf before he goes. However blastoise gets completely walled by ghosts especially rotom, hence jolteon.
Jolteon @choice specs
volt absorb
Timid
252 sp attack/252 speed/6 HP EV's
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Signal Beam
-HP ice
As I mentioned before blastoise sometimes acts as bait for enemy electrics, or ghosts carrying thunderbolt like gengar or rotom who fire of a thunderbolt expecting deal damage to blastoise but end up healing jolteon. He especially loves coming in on these ghosts types carrying shadow ball to OHKO both gengar and rotom. Jolteon's thunderbolt also deals a ton of damage to anything that doesnt outright resist it. Hp Ice is used to get hurt ground types expecting to switch in on a thunderbolt.
Scizor@Metal Coat
Technician
Adamant
252 Attack/200 HP/58 Speed EV's
-Bullet Punch
-Roost
-Swords Dance
-Superpower
I love Scizor. Scizor shines as a revenge killer throwing out powerful bullet punches to kill weakened opponents. However if Scizor can switch in on anything it can scare off, and the opponent isnt carrying magnezone, and he can get off a few swords dances Scizor becomes downright scary. And fulfills his purpose of being my main late game sweeper. Bullet punch is this sets main attack, with superpower being used to hurt steel types. Roost also adds to scizor's bulkiness allowing it to recover damage received from setting up swords dance.
Heracross@choice scarf
Guts
Adamant
252 Attack/252 Speed/ 6 Hp EV's
-Megahorn
-Stone Edge
-Close Combat
-Night Slash
Heracross has proven to be a valuable member of my team acting as a superb revenge killer, and sometimes a very effective sweeper. Heracross packs a huge punch and with choice scarf, outspeeds most of its opponents. Megahorn and close combat are powerful STAB moves, with stone edge killing off pesky gyarados and night slash to hurt incoming ghosts who think a close combat is coming.
Dragonite @life orb
Inner Focus
Adamant
252 Attack/252 Speed/6 Hp EV's
-Extremespeed
-Outrage
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake
I used dragonite in a very similar way to Scizor. He main objective is to power up, using dragon dances, and then launch powered up extremespeeds , hopefully sweeping a few of the opponents team. Dragonite also functions as an adequate revenge killer with extremespeed on weakened opponents. However I dislike life orb on this set as it takes away from Dragonite's bulk by sapping it of hp each successive hit. However I have tried other items such as choice band and life orb has had the most success. This set really only works on revenge kills or late game sweeps as it is walled by steel types, ghosts, bulky waters carrying ice beam, and ice shard users like mamoswine and weavile. This is the pokemon that I have considered swapping out but have not been able to find a stable alternative.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and hopefully I did not break any of the forum rules.
