-I've never played uber before (except with my mono-fighting team)
-I've never made my own stall team before (I copied someone's stall team when I first began playing OU and UU. I find it easier to learn a tier with a stall team)
-I've heard that pulling off a successful stall team in ubers is nearly impossible against competent foes.
-And I'm not too good at the game to begin with.
-So I decided what better to do than to turn the uber tier into my own stick of deodorant.
Here goes:
Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/52 Atk/204 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Payback
- Spikes
Deoxys Speed are the common lead in uber. This set 2HKOs the common Deoxys lead, spins away the spikes, or sets up some of it's own. EV wise, this thing is set to take a special attack because it's defense is already high enough.
Jumpluff (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 188 Def/252 Spd/68 SDef
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Encore
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Sleep Powder
I've heard this thing is pretty good in-chat. I took it for a test spin and it seems that Substitute's PP lets it down more than the Sleep Powder accuracy. If the opponent has a recovery move this thing is useless. Any insight on proper usage of sub-seeding in ubers would be appreciated. The EVs are taken directly from the strategidex so I'm not sure if it is optimized for uber use.
Giratina @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 240 HP/252 Def/16 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dark Pulse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
I chose Giratina because it is common knowledge that Lugia, Blissey, and Giratina are the premier walls in uber. I opted for the CM set from the stratigidex because I am using Toxic Spikes which may make Will-O-Wisp's uses limited.
Groudon @ Leftovers
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 HP/156 Atk/62 Def/40 SDef
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
I chose Groudon to help Jumpluff in it's sub-seeding and because Stealth Rock is so good. Dragon Claw is here to do some nice damage to the large amount of dragons in Ubers such as Latios and Latias, Rayquaza, and Garchomp. Earthquake is the most reliable STAB ground move Groudon has, so it's quite obvious as to why it's in this set.
Lugia @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP/80 Def/176 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Roost
- Thunder Wave
Being completely unfamiliar with ubers, "Lugia" is who I think of when I see the words "uber wall".
This Lugia was mind's idea. If lokopoke remember correctly, this set helped him win the last Ubers Tour of this season. It really does work well. Thunder Wave and Calm Mind, along with Pressure as an ability can help Lugia set up instantly and begin to wall my opponent. Lugia also serves as the Pokemon used to counter Rayquaza and Groudon perfectly. Untill it sees a Rock Polish+Sword Dance Groudon.
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 204 HP/252 Def/52 SAtk
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Protect
- Icy Wind
Icy Wind so that Garchomp basically loses it's Choice Scarf if it stays in, and also takes a decent amount of damage from it. Rayquaza becomes insanely slow, and allows my Groudon or Giratina-o to revenge kill it. Icy Wind also makes Mewtwo even less of a pain since I know it no longer has it's speed that makes Mewtwo the threat it is.
