Jumping on the bandwagon! (Yup, it's a warstory)

So my old friend Joseph and I settled on a match, 6 to 6, no ubers… and we both agreed that we should keep a log of this battle. I’m posting this warstory here because the two of us think it was a pretty even (but poorly played) match, and, well, who HASN’T posted a warstory here yet?
So we started the battle, both of us standing in different rooms (He didn’t want any of Epistaxis’s sick mind games, which’s a shame. Luckily I got the kitchen, and got to enjoy a sprite while we played.)

Neither of us are anywhere NEAR competitive.

My team, the noble defenders with sexy nicknames:

-Yanmega -YANMAMA
-Slowking -Pinky
-Lanturn -Sparkplug
-Tentacruel –DOESNTSPIN
-Cradily –My Wall
-Kangaskahn –Comedy (He’s level 1, mind you.)

His boring standard team with no nicknames whatsoever:

-Swampert
-Metagross
-Dusknoir
-Gyarados
-Tyranitar
-Blissey

Nothing I haven’t seen before.

And we began, my hands shaking. I had assumed he was dead for years, and now he arrived just to battle me? C’est la vie.

Mepop sent out YANMAMA! (Me)
JOSEPH sent out Swampert! (What an original trainer name as well)

Fantastic! I’ve got giga drain on YANMAMA over Protect, and who can say I did wrong in this situation? Oh, I’ve got the element of surprise at my fingertips, friend… the element of surprise… I frantically write down notes on the battle.

JOSEPH withdrew Swampert!
JOSEPH sent out Blissey!
YANMAMA used Giga Drain! (10%)
Blissey’s leftovers restored HP a little! (96%)
Mepop’s element of surprise wore off!

Well, that was bad. And stupid me had choice specs, so I couldn’t even put his Blissey to sleep. Predicting a thunder wave, I switch.

Mepop withdrew YANMAMA!
Mepop sent out SparkPlug! (Lanturn)
Blissey used Seismic Toss! (~25%)
Sparkplug’s leftovers restore HP a little! (81%)
Blissey’s do too! (Back to full)

And so starts the real battle. Lanturn can’t do much, but I can at least paralyze and hope Blissey switches out. (This is probably not the best idea, but hey, I’m new.)

JOSEPH withdrew Blissey!
Joseph sent out Tyranitar?!
Tyranitar kicked up some sand with sandstream!
Sparkplug used Thunder Wave!
Tyranitar is paralyzed! It might not be able to move!
Sparkplug’s leftovers restore HP a little! (87%)
Sandstorm negates it!

Okay, I wasn’t expecting the Spanish… Tyranitar. This might be a stroke of luck for me after all. From now on, I won’t mention the sandstorm or leftovers, unless it’s completely NEEDED. But I count on my opponent’s having sandstream, as it helps my strategy a lot.

Sparkplug used Surf! (50%)
Tyranitar is paralyzed! It can’t move! (Lucky!)

Since there’re no leftovers, I’m pretty sure it’s a choice band Tar.

Sparkplug used Surf! (50%)
Tyranitar died!
JOSEPH sent out Swampert!
5-6

You’ve got to be kidding, he didn’t switch? And here comes big bad boy Pert again. I’ve figured out half his team already, and obviously he doesn’t want me to know any more.

Mepop withdrew Sparkplug!
Mepop sent out YANMAMA!
Swampert used earthquake! (0%)
YANMAMA’s speed boost, well, boosted speed!

YANMAMA used Giga Drain! (100%!)
Swampert rolled over and died!
JOSEPH sent out Metagross!
4-6

I didn’t think that would KO… shows what I know. Anyways, I anticipate a meteor mash, and do my best to counter it.

Mepop withdrew YANMAMA!
Mepop sent out Sparkplug!
Metagross used Earthquake! @#@%$ (100%)
Sparkplug died a hero’s death.
Mepop sent out My Wall! (Cradily)
4-5

Well, that’s the end of that. I refuse to believe Joseph has prediction skills; he probably thought earthquake would hit Yanmega. Either way, here comes mah secret weapon.

Metagross used earthquake! (49%)
My Wall used Rock Polish!

Haha, I remember how I always walled Joseph with Cradily back in Emerald days. He hates it now, and has no idea why I’m rock polishing – he obviously thinks My Wall is, well, a wall.
I’m going to risk this.

My Wall used Sword Dance!
Metagross used Earthquake! (48%!!!)
My Wall’s liechi berry kicked in! Attack rose!

That Metagross must have TERRIBLE IVs, not being able to beat My Wall in two turns with a choice band. It’s barnacle sweeping time! But I know Joseph’s not about to lose his Metagross, and will switch… When in doubt, stone edge!

JOSEPH withdrew Metagross!
JOSEPH sent out Gyarados!
Intimidate, you know the drill.
My Wall used Stone Edge!
A critical hit! (100%)
Gyarados went back to wherever it came from!
JOSEPH sent out Metagross!
3-5

All right! I deserve a pat on the back for that. Whatever Metagross, eat Earthquake!

Metagross used Bullet Punch! (What’s a bullet punch? O.o)
It’s super effective! (2%)
My Wall died to the unknown attack!
Mepop sent out Comedy!
3-4

I’m assuming bullet punch’s some steel type quick attack. Didn’t even know that move existed, lol. Now I can hear Joseph laughing his little head off in the other room because I’m using a level 1, and mocking his mad skills or whatever. Just you wait.

JOSEPH withdrew Metagross!
JOSEPH sent out Blissey!
Comedy used substitute!

He thinks I’m underestimating him by using a level 1, but it’s the other way around.

Blissey used calm mind!
Special attack rose!
Special defense rose!
Comedy used endeavor! (Blissey went down to 9 HP)
The sandstorm kills Blissey!
JOSEPH screams ‘WTF’ and sends out Dusknoir!
2-4

I never thought this would actually work! Count on Joseph to try setting up on the only level 1 in the world who can OHKO Blissey, lol. But calm mind and seismic toss on blissey? I'm not seeing it...

Dusknoir used ice punch!
The substitute faded!
Comedy used endeavor!
The sandstorm kills Dusknoir as well!
JOSEPH screams ‘WTF Endeavor can’t hit ghosts’ and sends out Metagross!
1-4

This is great! A four to one!

JOSEPH fled!

He knew he couldn’t win, I guess. Oh well, slaughtering his Metagross wouldn’t have been much fun anyway.

1-4

Props –
YANMAMA and Sparkplug for taking out his sandstorm resists
My Wall for taking down Gyarados, who I have a major weakness to
Comedy for being the only level 1 to ever OHKO Dusknoir and Blissey! (In case you’re wondering, Comedy had Scrappy as her ability, letting her hit Dusknoir. Pretty much the only reason to use L1 Kangaskahn over L1 smeargle, but I think my idea worked.)
Not having to use Pinky to set up a block+yawn thing to send out Comedy
Me for winning
Slops –
JOSEPH for using too many standards
Metagross for using an attack unheard of, and earthquaking Sparkplug
Blissey for ruining my element of surprise
The whole battle for being too noobish and unbalanced
EDIT: In case you're wondering why I have THREE water type special walls, it's because they all serve different purposes - everyone of them's a gimmick set except Lanturn.

Lol, like how you wrote this (comments like: Lanturn died a hero's death!)

It was funny that he didn't just attack Kangaskhan, did you have focus sash on it btw? Also just wondering, does sandstorm not go through subsitutes? Is that why Kangaskhan didn't get killed by the sandstorm?

Just a small thing to add, if you feel like it edit in pics of the sprites under where you put each persons teams. I just like seeing pics of the teams in these warstorys, I don't know. =)

Haha this was pretty funny. The battle wasn't that impressive but your writing kinda saved it. And the use of Comedy was pure gold =)

Lol yay!~ So fun to read! I always thought war stories were violent and stuff. Yay for your Kangaskhan. Your friend is really uncreative!

Thanks for the support, guys. :)

He assumed I put kangaskahn on my team for comedy relief, hence the name, and tried to set up against it. Fortunately for me, sandstorm does a percentage of damage every turn, so Comedy only took 1 HP damage per turn. I had a quick claw on Comedy.
I'll add pictures later, but not right now - there's a terrible thunderstorm and I must turn off my computer, or I shall probably die.
EDIT: Well, that was fast. Scattered shower I guess.

You are so funny! ^.^;

This was a hilarious warstory! And I like how your team was original and full of style, yet still managed to do what it had to do to win!

This is what makes pokemon battles exciting. Kudos to you!

Also got to give it up to Comedy.

Congrats on beating all of those standards with some innovation and lower-tier'd pokemon. However, I feel the win wasn't, as the kids say, "Great success! Very nice!" I am saying this because of how bad your opponent was. His prediction was really bad. Keeping in tyranitar against lanturn and keeping in swampert against Yanmega was just dumb. But I'm sure it felt good knowing that you beat your opponent out of sheer skill. I would too.

It's quite satisfying when you defeat two Pokemon with FEAK! :)

That Swampert thing was pretty dumb on Joseph's part. . .

I know, it was a battle between dumb and dumber. Still pretty satisfying, though. :p

A+++++++++++++++++++++++
GREAT WRITER, WOULD READ AGAIN.

Besides the Ebay comment stupidity, yes, this was a very entertaining match to read. Please do continue

While it was a nice story, it's sad that Tentacruel and Slowking did not receive any action, but that's partly his fault for not using a single special attacker.

the small ocmmentary on the side was a nice touch though
