[SET]
Sun Support (Jumpluff) @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Chlorophyll
Level: 50
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 220 HP / 68 SpD / 220 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tailwind
- Sleep Powder
- Sunny Day
- Rage Powder / Encore / Pollen Puff
[SET COMMENTS]
- Jumpluff is a sun staple, providing fast and invaluable support in the form of speed control and sleep, on top of others.
- Sunny Day is a good option because of Jumpluff's high speed, letting it reliably set up the Sun before an ally Charizard attacks, boosting its power. Rage Powder is the preferred last option, keeping frail allies like the aforementioned Charizard safe. Encore, on the other hand, ounishes passive play like Fake Out and Protect. Pollen Puff can heal up allies Ursaluna while also giving it an attacking move, making sure that Jumpluff isn't entirely useless when Taunted.
- Covert Cloak blocks Fake Out from the likes of Rillaboom, preventing it from disrupting Jumpluff, especially because it doesn't have space for Protect.
- Tera Water flips Jumpluff's weaknesses to Fire- and Ice-type attacks such as Flare Blitz from Incineroar and Blizzard from Alolan Ninetales into resistances while also granting a resistance to Make It Rain from Gholdengo, boosting its longevity.
- The bulk survives Close Combat from Jolly Sneasler when Tera Water, Tera Stellar Draco Meteor from Power Herb Archaludon, Rock Slide from Assault Vest Tyranitar even after the sand chip damage, Fiery Dance from low-invested Volcarona, Draco Meteor from Hydreigon, Scale Shot from Dragonite, and avoids the 2HKO from Extreme Speed from Dragonite. The Speed investment outspeeds Adamant Sneasler.
- Jumpluff is able to very easily outspeed a lot of threats such as Sneasler and put them to sleep, especially when the Sun is active. After that, however, Jumpluff relies entirely on its partners to deal damage, leaving it very easy to exploit with moves like Taunt.

Teambuilding
============
- Because of its passivity, Jumpluff requires partners that deal meaningful damage on their own to foes; this means that they will likely need to have spread moves such as Heat Wave to damage both foes at once.
- Pokemon that set up with either boosting moves or other options like Trick Room appreciate Jumpluff's ability to redirect attacks or deny them altogether with Sleep Powder.
- Jumpluff heavily appreciates allies with sun-setting abilities, as it makes it so that Jumpluff isn't forced to waste a turn on setting up the sun for itself with Sunny Day.
- Charizard is a great offensive ally for Jumpluff, using Heat Wave to damage foes and appreciating Jumpluff's access to Sunny Day and Rage Powder, activating Charizard's Solar Power and protecting its frail stature from powerful attacks, respectively.
- Torkoal can damage both foes with Eruption and also sets up the Sun for Jumpluff. Jumpluff can additionally use Pollen Puff to heal Torkoal to fire off a more powerful Eruption.
- Ursaluna is another ally that can consistently damage foes, this time with Earthquake. Jumpluff can put foes to sleep, namely Sneasler, before they can move so Ursaluna is free to attack.
- Jumpluff is very supportive and cannot do any meaningful damage on its own. It is particularly useless in front of Gholdengo or Pokemon with Safety Goggles such as Incineroar, as they can ignore Jumpluff entirely or KO it with Make It Rain and Flare Blitz, respectively. Allies such as Charizard and Hisuian Typhlosion are able to break through many of these Pokemon with their devastating attacks. Jumpluff also has a pretty poor defensive typing, being weak to top Pokemon such as Alolan Ninetales and Sneasler. Allies such as Incineroar can help out by KOing them with Flare Blitz or mitigating their damage with Intimidate, respectively. Jumpluff can also outspeed them with Drought support from Torkoal, putting them to sleep with Sleep Powder before they can threaten Jumpluff.
Strategy Comments
============
- Jumpluff's main objective is to be a nuisance under then Sun, putting foes to sleep, changing the speed order with Tailwind, and resetting Sun if necessary. Jumpluff loves to be in scenarios where it can spam Sleep Powder easily without worry. To help it achieve this, roadblocks such as Powder-immune Pokemon like Safety Goggles Clefable and sleep-immune Pokemon like Magmar and Electabuzz should be removed early on.
- Jumpluff tends to prefer being brought in the front, getting off early Sleep Powders that could easily sway the battle in Jumpluff's favor. Jumpluff can be brought in many matchups, but certainly not Trick Room; because of its relatively poor bulk and lack of Protect, it won't be able to survive.
- Shutting down the Sun with Pokemon such as Pelipper and Alolan Ninetales will sever Jumpluff's speed boost, leaving it vulnerable to Pokemon such as Maushold and Sneasler. Removing weather setters early on and preserving Jumpluff's allies such as Torkoal will ensure that Jumpluff's preferred weather will be up. Jumpluff is also susceptible to Taunt from the likes of Whimsicott, considering most of its moves are status options. To counter this, removing the Taunt users early with explosive damage in the form of Charizard or Ursaluna will be helpful.
