introduction
hi all, another shitty teach rmt this time with a brand spanking new doublade core. I built around doublade, s/o to EviGaro and lil pump, so that's where we start. without further waiting, here's the team

teambuilding
doublade.gif

the start to any good team, doublade makes my team instantly not weak to Kartana, Bulu, Mega Cham, or Hawlucha so I built off the need to ignore these mons.

doublade.gif
gastrodon.gif

Doublade is honestly destroyed by Ash Gren, Koko, and any other special attacker, so Gastro comes in as my overall special attacker check and is pretty good.

krookodile.gif

Doublade is Knock off bait for anything holding it so I like having a Knock switch in & have really been liking this set in terms of what it can provide to a team, w/ checking T-Tar and Mega Zard X while not being an offensive drag which not a lot can do atm. Overall cool mon, use it.

at this point I was weak to Zygarde, Scizor, and Ferrothorn among other stuff and my team was slow as shit (w/ nothing outspeeding Greninja or Tornadus) so I slapped HP Ice phys def Amoonguss w/ an eject button to handle Ferro/Scizor & used magneton over magnezone for the extra speed. Don't hate <3.

My team was slow overall, I was lacking a Defogger with my Z-Crystal taken, needed a Zard Y switch in, + No ground immunity so I opted for Latios-Mega in my last slot. It fits really nicely and provides a lot of offensive pressure while the team + defogs often.

the team

Doublade (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Atk / 76 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- SacredSword
- Toxic

This is my tried and true Doublade set, with Sacred Sword as a flex slot and giving us perfect coverage. Does everything this mon should and gives you a nice way to emergency revenge stuff at low hp or just hit crap neutrally w/ Ghost/Steel coverage. Toxic lets you actually do something on a Lando switch and effectively lets you set up your own sweep.

gastrodon.gif

欲 (Gastrodon) (F) @ Leftovers

Ability: Storm Drain
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 80 SpA / 172 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic

- Earthquake

Gastrodon is a Pokemon that has really grown on me. Originally I kinda just saw it as a gimicky way to beat rain but it checks way more than that and I've been v happy with it on this squad (Mag, Koko, Lati@s). Very good at just generally taking special hits which Doublade can 100% not accomplish. One of my favorite Doublade partner, they really compliment each other albeit making your team slow.

krookodile.gif

罰 (Krookodile) @ Darkinium Z

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 124 HP / 132 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off
- Earthquake

- Foul Play

Basically every Doublade core I've made has used a Dark-type that doesn't mind Knock Off and this squad is no exception. Krookodile is an odd mon that I feel really really shines w/ the popularity of T-Tar and other crap it checks like Lando/Toxapex/AV Mag. V cool Pokemon, believe me when I say stuff is good <3. I've considered using Groundium but Darkium hitting a lot of stuff neutrally has been too good to pass up. EV'd to live +0 Flare Blitz from Mega Zard and OHKO back with EQ.

magneton.gif

罪 (Magneton) @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon

- Hidden Power [Fire]

Scizor (with Knock Off) is very annoying, as is Ferro and Celesteela (especially given my Latios set), so Magneton joins the battle as my counter to all of these Pokemon. Pretty simple set, Megneton > Magnezone in this meta for speed tiers, fight me.

amoonguss.gif

花 (Amoonguss) @ Eject Button

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 168 Def / 92 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 1 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Clear Smog

- Hidden Power [Ice]

Regenerator is legit fucking broken lol, as is trapping + eject button. this + mag is how we handle steel amongst other steel types. this shit is wack, HP ice for Zygarde other stuff is basic. ban regenerator.

latios-mega.gif

神 (Latios) @ Latiosite

Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Defog
- Psychic
- Earthquake

- Roost

This set is honestly fire rn, its just such a good Balance breaker given all the Mega Venusaur/Toxapex//Heatran running around. Really good set, really good. Checks Mega Venusaur + Mega Zard Y and threatens basically everything w/ a 2HKO. It's so strong, I opted for Latios over Latias because my Hawlucha check is already very solid so the extra power is appreciated instead.

shoutouts to EviGaro and the ru squad as always o/, s/o to reusing my avatar because it fits so well.

Hey, I think your team is kinda neat, but I'm gonna be that guy for a sec. Lando is always gonna be better than Krook, and you can still knock with it. U-turn is always nice and can keep the momentum from eject button going. And if that's not the route you're looking for, your team seems kinda weak to bulky grass types like M-Venu (even though it's basically dead, rip) and Tang, so Z-Fly can give you nice coverage, while still hitting a bunch of stuff neutrally. Also, nitpick, but why have 1 IV in Attack when you can just run 0 to take less damage from confusion (even though confusion is basically dead). Oh, and IDK if magneton lives an HP fire from Lele, it's probably a 2 or 3hko, but keep that in mind, because lele kind of walks through your team without it. I hope this was a little bit helpful, but if I'm completely off, feel free to say so.

PS team builder has me worried with hidden powers lol, I usually just click the type and leave it since I've gotten screwed over with IVs before but you're right there. Ty for the lando mention, it probably fits the team slot better I just get worried about bisharp at teambuilder a lot lol, but tangrowth and mega venu seem scarier.

Hey teachable! Very interesting team you have there. I love the idea of using Doublade as well, as it checks the most common physical threats in the OU tier thanks to its typing. I am of the opinion, however, that the team needs some improvements to better beat some other common threats in the OU tier. I will be explaining the problems I have with the team, name some additional threats to the team, and lastly cover the problems and threats mentioned. So without further ado, let's get started!

Overview:
As already said in the intro, I love the idea of using Doublade for its formidable typing, bulk, and ability to set up and sweep in the end. There are a few things that bother me on this team, however. Firstly and most importantly, a
Ground.png
resist is missing in form of a
Grass.png
type since I do believe that Amoonguss alone isn't enough for Zygarde. Another thing I have noticed is that some spreads don't make sense to me. For instance, I don't get the weird spread on Gastrodon when its main purpose is to act as a wall and stauts spreader for the various Pokémon in the tier. Or let's take Krookodile: I think it has a purpose for sure, but it doesn't seem clear to me for what. Lastly, there are some redundant sets that can be changed and a moveslot opened, it's not a huge point of criticism but it could potentially be important in a few cases.
What is your team weak to?
718.png
:
As a result of you not having a solid
Ground.png
resist, you become at least annoyed by every common Zygarde set. Substitute-Toxic can either beat or poison every Pokémon on your team except for Amoonguss, and even that gets beaten by Zygarde after some chip. Choice Band just gets a lot of damage off and is pretty much guaranteed to get one kill but then serves as set-up bait for Doublade. Z-Dragon Dance is probably the most fearsome set for you as the Z-Move can also blow away your only check to it. I would say Dragonium and Groundium are equally dangerous to your team as both sets OHKO Amoonguss at +1. I am of the opinion that the team definitely has counterplay, the team just needs more, in my eyes.
786.png
: While I do think that choiced sets of Tapu Lele are checkable, I do find non-choiced sets to be a huge problem for your team as you don't reliably outspeed Tapu Lele with your Krookodile (speed tie), nor do you have the bulk to take hits from it like Tyranitar, although that also isn't considered a good trapper against it regardless. It has the coverage to hit every single Pokémon on the team and you only have very limited options to counteract it. In my eyes, having one or two reliable options against it makes a team deal fine with a Pokémon, but to have one unreliable measure is kind of bad, I am not going to lie.
006-mega-x.png
: This acts as an icon for setup sweepers. What I have noticed is the fact that you don't have much for certain set-up sweepers, especially in conjunction with spike-support from either Ferrothorn, Greninja, or Skarmory. Flare Blitz from Charizard-X almost always OHKO's a Krookodile at +1 with a Spike up, hence I think it is kind of an issue. Gyarados is also a force to be reckoned with as certain sets can just sweep your team, look at Z Fly Gyarados or Substitute Mega-Gyarados for example.
How can you improve the team?
Major Changes:

Bag_Leftovers_Sprite.png
423-ost.png
: I do agree with 0verloud that a Landorus-Therian definitely fits on the team, I just think the Pokémon that needs to be replaced for it is different. Landorus-Therian firstly gives you a soft check to Zygarde, which is needed as stated before. But aside from that, it is another momentum gainer helping the main Pokémon, the star of the team. Gastrodon wasn't an easy replacement for me as it was a superb Heatran and Tornadus-Therian check as well as having a few other niche purposes. At the end of the day, I realized that Mega-Latios did most of Gastrodon's jobs well enough already and that my task lies in covering the few other aspects with the rest of my changes, hence I decided to make this the first change.
Bag_Assault_Vest_Sprite.png
787.png

Bag_Eject_Button_Sprite.png
591.png
:
I do like the combination of an Eject Button user + trappers. But on the other hand, I feel like Tapu Bulu is just way more important as it check so many threats to your team. It supports the Tapu Lele match-up, supports the Zygarde match-up so that Landorus-Therian is able to beat it in Grassy Terrain, covers the Gyarados weakness etc. . Tapu Bulu just does all these things that Amoonguss cannot do and that is why I feel this change should be made. I can guarantee you, Tapu Bulu is going to be one of the MVP's in a lot of games.

Bag_Icium_Z_Sprite.png
461.png
>
Bag_Darkinium_Z_Sprite.png
553.png
:
Reason for this change are the speeds of the respective trappers. Krookodile doesn't have the most amazing speed stat, so it can fail trapping certain Pokémon, some are even general threats to the team. This is where Weavile comes into play: It is a fast trapper that can get rid of choiced Pokémon guaranteedly in one turn, or non-choiced Pokémon in one turn after winning the 50/50s. Icicum Z is intended for those scenarios. If you win the 50/50s you get a kill, guaranteed. It would also be another set up Pokémon as well as being a decent stall breaker with the combination of Swords Dance, Knock Off, and Icicle Crash. You can run either of those sets, if you want to focus more on trapping the threats, I would go with Choice Band. If you want to mainly focus on breaking stall, run Icium Z.
Minor Changes:
Surf > Earthquake (
381-mega.png
) :
Considering the fact that we now have Grassy Terrain and a Landorus-Therian now, I don't think Earthquake does more for you than Surf does. It's just a way of not being as annoyed by Heatran, not more, not less. The set overall is therefore going to be Defog|Psychic|Surf|Roost.
Conclusion:
All in all, I have to say that the team wasn't bad and had a lot of potential, but there were a few things that were missing or that could have been optimized, in my eyes. I hope I did a good job of maintaing a lot of the team's dynamics while having covered the aspects I wasn't satisfied with. The Weavile can have two sets as already said before, hence I am going to post both versions and you can see what version seems better to you. And obviously the team isn't perfect. Weaknesses the team might have are Life Orb Kyurem Black, Mega-Mawile, or a well played Tapu Lele, for instance. I also hope you had no hard feelings towards me while reading this rate. In any case, I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and have fun with the team! *Oh, and also I would edit the set of Doublade since it's meant to be Iron Head but you have Sacerd Sword as a move instead (that rhyme though).
Version I.
Version II.
