just another team

Hello,
I'm a pretty much a beginner player in the competitive metagame, though I'm playing pokemon for a lot of years. I'll be glad if you rate my team though it's kind of a basic one:

162.png

Furry Purr (Furret) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Trick
- Body Slam
- Focus Punch
- Sucker Punch

Furret is the main reason I made an NU team. I can only enjoy this game if I can use the pokemons I like, or at least one of them in my team (can't use Moltres, Venomoth and Vaporeon in the same team since OU will kick my ass). So it's a simple Furret: trick scarf to someone that will hate it, usually a stealth rock user (but in NU I also discovered the joy of tricking a poke with an evolite and also giving him a scarf, equals: totally messing it up), then focus punch or switch to set up. body slam is the stab move and also may cause paralysis. sucker punch is for quicker pokes. Yeah, he dies a lot, but I don't care. He has his shining moments...

StrongWill (Torkoal) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: White Smoke
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Yawn
- Lava Plume

Took this set from Smogon. When Furret tricks a stealth rock user, I will usually switch into Torkoal to rapid spin it, since Ninjask really dislikes the rocks. Then I can set up my own rocks, Yawn the opponent to force him to switch. Lava Plume is a stab move and also the only special attack in my team.

291.png

Ninjask (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Baton Pass
- X-Scissor

There are usually 2 optional leads in my team: Furret or Ninjask. The plan is simple, like in every baton pass Ninjask: Sub for safety (and also get a speed bonus), SD and then baton pass for Marowak or Gurdurr. X-Scissor is stab.

105.png

Marowak (F) @ Thick Club
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Double-Edge
- Stone Edge

This is this team main sweeper. After getting the speed bonuses, and possibly also the attack bonuses from Ninjask, this pokemon is literally unstoppable and
can crush entire teams. SD is for getting the attack bonus if Ninjask coudn't give it. EQ is stab, double-edge is for opponents that resist earth type attacks (by using the Rock Head ability) and stone-edge is against opponents who resist both, mainly Misdreavus.

561.png

Gurdurr (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Rock Slide

Took this one after seeing some people use it and just take out my entire team like nothing. I used to have Hariyama but it was nothing like this thug of a pokemon. It doesn't even needs the speed bonus from Ninjask (though it can be helpful). It can set up with bulk up, drain punch the hell of it's opponents, outspeed them if they survived with much punch, rock slide everything else, and with guts, it only gets stronger from hexes!

Dodrio (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Early Bird
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Pursuit
- Roost
- Taunt

Dodrio had proved himself for being an essential part of the team, just by having taunt. I used to have so many problems from Whimscotts and Murkrows and other pesky things that Furret didn't came in time to trick before they got their sub. But He's more then that. Brave bird with life orb is almost a suicide, since it costs Dodrio in half of it's life, but it's worth it like hell and can 1HKO most of the pokemons in the tier. Pursuit is mostly for doing some more damage to these hazards pokemon I just taunted when they try to switch out. otherwise I can just use the advantage to roost. I'm thinking of switching the Pursuit into quick attack though, to make Dodrio a better revenge kill. Also because I don't have enough priority moves in my team and sometimes it can cause me in a sweep...
Also, his early bird ability make him a good counter to Amoonguss's spore and of course, with it's typing it can handle giga drain and 1KO it with brave bird.

So my team's strategy is simple: It focuses in attack. Marowak is the main pillar but it depends on Ninjaks speed bonuses. Gurdurr is the second choice attacker and can be used to get rid of pokes who threat Marowak until it will be safe to go out. Also, it can be used as an attack machine of it's own and doesn't need much of support from his fellow buddies. The others are mainly to make this mission done: Furret is for tricking opponents and messing with them, and also for scouting. Dodrio is for specific special threats like Whimscotts or pokemons that can taunt or break Ninjask, and also a revenge killer. Torkoal is a spinner for the hazards and also can wall some pokemons.

So tell me guys, what do you think of my team?

Furret is completely outclassed by Lopunny. You've said you like Furret, so you may want to keep it, I don't know. You say that if they get a Substitute up they counter you, the fact Lopunny gets Klutz gets rid of that problem. You could go for any item and they wouldn't know what you were using. Go for a Flame Orb if you find yourself weak to physical sweepers, or a Choice Scarf if you just want to set up your sweepers.

Lopunny (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Klutz
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Switcheroo
- Thunder Wave
- Magic Coat
- Return

You are also very physical. Physical walls that beat Torkoal will give you trouble. You could try fiddling around with your team, but if you find physical walls beatable, then fine.

Oddly enough, Trick Furret and Taunt Dodrio are your team's only hope of breaking past physical walls, especially Weezing and Quagsire. From looking at your moves, other than Trick and Taunt, you literally have nothing that can damage either of them enough to beat them before they status you and wall your team into oblivion, (and Dodrio is so frail that it will probably die to a couple of Scalds). Also, your team relies a lot on your set-up sweepers, so Taunt hurts you as well. Finally, watch out for Special sweepers, because you have no real defense against them, especially SubCM Mesprit who can easily set up on Gurdurr, and Scarf Jynx and Rotom-S. Crygonal over Torkoal gives you a faster Spinner and lets you attack on the special side, helping against Rotom-S as well. Toxic lest you take on Quagsire too.
